Question: Does Yun’s low, forward, or strong CG’s have any special characteristics? E.g// speed, distance on grab, recovery
From what I’ve been told, they are all exactly the same. No speed or range difference outside of the EX version.
They are exactly the same, the EX version (5 frames) is 2 frames faster than normal version.(7 frames)
Low, forward, strong? Did you mean short, forward, roundhouse?
Actually the roundhouse version allows you to combo with a cl. mk in the corner, to set up a genei jin combo.
also EX version has more range
Wha? They change your placement after the flip…? I’ve put in a lot of hours into Yun and I definitely didn’t know this.
It’s because your using the command grab while their in the corner making it possible for the cl. mk.
Oh, I know that. I thought he meant that roundhouse had different properties.
all the kick versions (non-EX) are the exact same - no different
ex version is throw invincible too
they are all throw invincible
Negative.
Damn, it’s really impressive how much misinformation there is on a simple thing like yun’s command grab. Look capcom, that’s who you’re listening to when you get asked for nerfs
So Yun isn’t broken after all?
its impressive how freely people throw around misinformation too
He’s much better than other 36 members of the cast, slightly better than one of them and on par with another one (guess who they are), but no, I wouldn’t call him broken
I think Yun has all the tools that he needs and has the options to open people up. It’s not that he’s overpowered, but a lot of the cast is simply underpowered. A lot of people, Justin Wong comes to mind especially, thinks AE can be rebalanced without a single nerf.
Compared to the rest of the cast short of a few yun is overpowered. Buffing everyone and everything has been done many different times through out several types of video games and it never works out. Hes overpowered compared to the rest of the cast, therefore he needs his nerfs as they say.
I will say that for a fighting game super and ae are both extremely balanced to the extent we’ve never really see before. Balancing is hard, and its even harder for a game such as street fighter. No one wants to see nerfs and its easy to sit back and say well just buff everyone, but that never turns out well and has completely destroyed games of other genres.
Dont buff the rest of the cast, nerf the “stronger” cast members in ways which allows the rest of the cast as a whole to compete. pretty difficult to do in a fighting game. Everyone thinks they know better and could make a game balanced but there is a lot more than we realize to balancing any game.
I am not calling for nerfs to yun or anyone else but I understand why nerfs happen and I am not against yun or anyone that is at the top getting nerfed.
I’d like to know what other games have been sufficiently popular and competitive and were ruined by buffs. Capcom has showed time and time again that they have an idea of what makes a character strong, and they won’t take it away. How many times could they have nerfed Rufus’ EX Messiah Kick’s invincibility? Or what about the juggle potential off Balrog’s headbutt? Capcom wants this game to be more rushdown, and less Super Downback Fighter 4, so why would they start taking away things that open people up instead of improving the things that do already, but for the entire cast? I think it’s time people start accepting that Yun and Yang were designed with Arcade Edition in mind, but Capcom didn’t apply the same style for other characters across the cast when they were rebalancing. Yun in AE is nowhere NEAR as bad as Chun-Li in 3rd Strike, and just rampantly complaining about him will not help you beat him. It took years for people to realize Yun’s potential in 3rd Strike, and I’m sure there’s characters in AE that will evolve in the same way.
