Zbattle = True Online OG SF?

yep udp is checked and when we try to connect it says udp connected. also, the other guy has played before so it isnt a prob on his side - no firewalls or such. plus, i shouldnt be behind a firewall, i can join up on custom warcraft games no prob, which shows my comp isnt behind a firewall, and no ips or ports are blocked. argh!

well, i may have gotten a new good player from kaillera to come to zbattle. his name is Aures.

And hey Jessie, he wants to play your fei long. He doesnt believe its possbile to be really good with fei.

fei long = massive damage factor. small guy doing big guy damage hahaha. deadly

I saw him on earlier today.

I have played 2 guys from Kaillera…and although they like the gameplay…after I beat them down they make the excuse that its “Not arcade perfect” or that “If you were on Kaillera, I would own you!”

Well, this isnt kaillera. And its not supposed to be arcade. Its snes for crying out loud! What?? Are they mysteriously better at playing on a laggy connection??

I tried kaillera the other week, and I was on a really good ping server…the gameplay was total crap compared to zbattle. Yeah, the games look alot prettier on Kaillera, but I would rather play an enjoyable lag free match with ok grafx than an arcade netclient that “loses synch” every other match!

Tell him I will be glad to play him  Hope he has a good controller

Oh, and let him know that SSF Fei Long is nothing compared to ST Fei Long

While I agree that zbattle is way more fun than kaillera, I think it is worth noting that the SNES version is WAY different from the arcade version.

There are differences in priority and so forth, but actually I think the biggest difference is in size.

The characters on SNES are significantly smaller. This is a big deal.

For example, in arcade, if Im Guile in a fireball fight with a shoto, I can take a small step forward and jumping roundhouse their fireball from full screen. On Snes, its not even close. I have to flash kick over a fireball first before I can do that. If they jump forward over my sonic boom, in the arcade I could jumping roundhouse them from practically anywhere. On Snes thats not the case, and my positioning will be crappier for it.

I’m sure you can think of more examples.

Actually, it’s amusing to think about which characters are better on SNES, and which are worse. I’m really not sure.

Anyway, I think the point is that SNES sf2 is a different game, but still a fun game.

well one thing is for sure, its alot better than the arcade version by far rofl. but like jsj said, i’d rather take a lag free match and a decent conversion than play the arcade version with crap connection…at lesat one is playable

agreed

bump for all the new blood on Z who are encountering any problems…

question who here can vouch for vint/gaiden that they use pads? I find it unbelievable that anyones thumb can respond so well?? PAD pro’s? do they exist? on the next montel.

Zbattle hates me…

ok, yesterday i played a few games, now when I try to play a game with someone zsnes doesnt’ come up or I get a message saying something like

Zsnes has caused an error in Zsnes.exe.

Then it closes. So I’m like, “WTF?”

This guy tells me that i have to d/l Windows Socket 2, so I d/l it and when i try to open it, i get a message saying:

An error was encountered while installing Winsock2. Setup has been cancelled. See C:\WINDOWS\WS2SETUP.LOG for more information.

I’m stuck. What the problem?

Zbattle hates me…

Hey,

Don’t try to run Winsock. Just download it and place it within your Zbattle folder, which should be within your ZSNES folder. After that, you should be good to go.

-This is 1 part of the union known as Mana+, btw

Thanks for the tip, imma try that right now, as seening that i’ve been on zbattle for the last 3 hours trying to fix the damn thing.

EDIT: No luck:( :frowning: :frowning:

My aim is Yoshi Musashi. If anyone is willing to help me step by step with this, i’d really appreciate it.

bump bump

im sevenforty…someone play my sim and cammy

Yes Max…we do exist. I can play just as good on a pad than I do on a stick.

Remember that fierce, fierce-standing flash kick?? All on pad

Aures,

You cannot play either my bro or me until you fix your connection. It was funny the first time when you played my bro the 20some odd battles with that ridiculous lag, but now…it’s just as bad as Kalliera

jesse . well yea i mean i can do that decently on a pad too if given the opportunity but i’m talking more about the transitional dp’s from walking forward, backward from whiffed moves and shit. hard to explain. like with fei i can normally poke forward ect. advancing and on a stick quickly go to back dp for flame kick. but on a pad takes me too much time to do that.

i got omars mas stick! someone go go go! hurry before nyquil kicks in

First, I want to thank Gaiden and Vingate’s help to getting this ish started.

But now another problem arose. I have lag. I can play fine offline, but when it’s online, i get hit by fireballs from across the screen. That isn’t good :frowning:

max: yeah dude I know exactly what you are saying. I never really sat down to play real sf with a pad since it came out on snes. I can play on a pad well, but my thumb speed doesnt seem to be fast enough to do certain things like what you said. like i would try to do footsie games with shotos walking back oand ofrth throwing out low forwards, and i can see the jump coming, but my thumb cant go from back, to a completed dp motion in a fraction of a second. I never realized how insanely tough it is to do that on a pad. I find it tough to the point where i lose confidence in my AA abilities. I start to second guess the reliance of my pad playing and just have to settle with blocking and losing my momentum. and we all know that second guessing is a really bad thing in sf.

I dunno, i just cant see it being possible. even tho i guess it is. i just think moving your hand is obviously much faster than being able to move your thumb. like for instance, I think the hand is naturally faster to wiggle a stick left and right than it is with a thimb using a pad. im sure with a thumb, you can get decent speeds, but i dont see how its possible to move as fast as the whole hand. Just seems like a human physical limitation? I dunno.

all i know is that vintage and gaiden can land dp’s on any jump you try to do on them. too good, and at the same time frustrating, god damn those games last night rofl! I just do all that shit fast enough on a pad. i can on a stick easily, just not on a pad unfortunately. i need a stick badly :frowning:
