Mabey the Elf was a good pilot and read your dashes correctly. I don’t think there is any trick to dashing out of his wake throws.
How can he grab you out of jump attempts? I didn’t even think that was possible.
Whenever I face someone who gets grab happy, i hold up and ppp lariat. If you cancel the jump into a lariat it becomes unthrowable.
But considering your luck versus that EF he’d probably get a throw out of that too
You know what’s funny, I was able to do unthrowable lariat a lot before now I can’t at all. But I can do the unthrowable ex spd on his run throw attempts sometimes. Maybe it has something do with the delay on the tortilla?
After doing some frame by frame video watching the lariat did in fact come out and I did jump cancel it but I still got thrown. I don’t get it.
Quick question. If its a mirror match, and a gief is knocked down and charges the ultra while down, and im in the line of fire what are some fast things I can do to get out of it?

Never put yourself in that position…zero startup - if you ‘see it’…your done. Well not exactly. If your crouching, your got. If you standing or blocking I think yo can jump…but con_ritmo is correct…dont’ be there. Gief is the melee God…you should stay OUT of that range.

Bait the ultra, jump right before he wakes up, then you get a free headbutt+bnb or ultra if you have it!

you should go into training mode and see what works against that
another very basic thing about mirror match is that you can do exactly the same thing.
so if other guy is better, try to do the same shit. look whats countering your move.
jump cancel lariat only give 1 frame of unthrowable. now matching this at opponent’s throw is unpractical.
ex spd is throwable. i don’t know any unthrowable move gief got. thats y all is spd variants can get thrown by able’s
this isn’t even such a complicated matter to find out yourself.
it’s not like frame data or something similar that takes more to find out.
one should at least try training mode to find what works. least couple moves for it.
and if he is still having problem then come back and ask for alternate ways.
spoon fed vs learning on your own, its obvious which will be better at the end.
if its a Gief mirror match, I just neutral jump over and over, sometiems short jumping foward. My goal is to land a headbutt…then another, then another, laughing the whole time. Eventually after they are trained they catch pokes, but I play mostl keep away since the SF4 engine seems to favor reversals so much.

generaly i like to like to x2 german if they love to stay on the ground, and if they generally want to go in the air spalsh into crouch lk lariat combo

Any special move that ends with up makes it unthrowable. I think that EX SPD just has more leniency when done against run back throw(I time the PP button press when Fuerte’s body goes horizontal in the air). I can do it most of the time and it also works against run splashes but you gotta do it a bit earlier. Unthrowable lariat is pretty easy to time against Fuerte’s splashes though.
ok i’ve been playing a real asshole of a seth for about 40 matches in row so i think i KNOW how to beat a spammy one now. so you know if you could add this to front page that would be nice (god knows i knew most of this BEFORE all of this)
Seth: Seth is going to be a combination of everything you hate, a projectile with properties of sonic boom (speed and screen control properties) AND hadoken (easly combo’d and spam’d) AND tiger shot (the recovery is ridiculous) a wall jump (hey rember el fuete? ya you do) WITH an even more (seemingly) evil heaven stomp courtesy of chun-li he has all of dhaslims moves that you hate includeing a teleport, akumas air mixup game, a high priorty shryoken and last but not least a command grab (YOUR COMMAND GRAB DAMMIT) not to metion he is a slipperly asshole that jumps faster then anyone else (meaning a jump in is going to be very very very luckly)

that shouldn’t be odd i mean this is zangiefs strategy anyways at one point or another, but the top three are more important then ever now.
first off stuffing
your boot of death is going to be your friend in this match because it can pointentally stuff pretty much anything under the right conditions including his FP and his air FP however it not really reliable. Only use the air mk when your in “magic range” ( which is pretty far way) to tap his extended limbs, any closer and his limbs will be over you meaning your kick is moot ( in which case switch to lp poke if you really wan to stuff)
ok so contiue to stuff him until he is near the wall…uh oh… his head stop can’t be counted with larait, trades in HIS FAVOR with crouch MP and crossups and is fast and hits 3 times. oh and it puts him on the other side of stage. How do you stop this wall jump madness? as soon as you see him jump off the wall jump your self and IMMEDIATELY headbutt. this should hit his feet, but any later and it will whiff and he will get a couple of chuckles in. if you do head butt him it knockes him away from you but puts him in the corner again. AGAIN try to contain and limit his options
ok now punish, this is generally easy, just if you see him teleport, whiff a shroken, or anthing that puts him at a bad postion larait, it does silly amounts of damge to him and puts him in get up game range. However some of his moves will give you other options for example his super or ultra will push you away only far enogh to hit with a bainishing flat (if you have exmeter use it combos destroy seth) and if he is stupid enogh to use tandim engine you can double german or spd (whatever is your preference)
ok so a general game will work like this he is gonna spam his sonic boom and jump back and hit you with his stretchy arms, in the begging your should jump over the sonic boom and boot of death but at a ceratin range stop. jump vertically over the sonic boom and move foward. This is the most important part of the match. you want to trick him into thinking he is safe with his air arms, you are going to jump straight up right out of range then headbutt
THIS WILL INSTANT STUN WITH NO COMBO ATTACHMENT
it is glourious, if you do this at least once a match you have won so this should be your ultimate goal
otherwise slowly run him down trying to get him to heaven stomp (if you can’t head but his sucka punch veration to the wall jump try a focus attack and if he does a “short hop” larait works EVERY TIME) trying to corner trap him once he is in the corner his yours. spalsh extendo hit box into throw, larait spam what have you once your in he is pretty much done (just watch for shoryuken) and try not to let him have your back because he despratly wants to teleport and GET OUT
so thats about it at first seth may seem impossible but with the right tactics zangief can overcome any obstacle because after all RUSSIAN WRESTLING IS ALWAYS NUMBER ONE
if youst found out a nice trick against roll liking blankas yeahr there is the hard like hell kara hand and the “we do less damage then his chip” c.jabs but c.mk at faar or midrange is realy like hell for blankas becouse if they try to stop the ball just bevore you to throw you they get hit if they want to hit you with the ball it got stuffed and last but not least if the try to stop wide bevore you it moves you inside punishment range and closer to him
it realy helps my game and stuffs the ball with much more damage then the jab but is much safer then a lariat ; no sliding after short roll^^
What counters Abels heel kick? I got shamed by a heel-kick/run like hell strategy today.
standing medium punsh the faar ones on block ; faar HK the early predictable ones(stuffs it perfektly); and spd the realy close ones
and dont forget standing medium punsh links into itselfs or can be comboed to s.mp s.lk xx greenhand^^
