I don’t know why anyone would try to lariat the butt slam. You can just reversal SPD him every time.
This. I think the only reason to try anything different from this is if he’s good at making it an ambiguous cross-up, but to be honest I don’t think it’s a move you’ll see smart hondas ever using against a gief unless it’s EX for a reversal escape from something.
Wooooo I just beat British Justice, ranked 6th in grade points.
lol hundred hand slaps make gief not so scary
At any level or reason no matter what. Buttslam should always = SPD or Ultra. I usually am one for the mix ups but SPD that shiiit.
well hondas will still do that move because there is a chance it will cross you over if they over shoot it correctly just like zangiefs will banishing hand for no reason get blocked and thrown for free
And you are correct. If Gief ever does random Ghand and its blocked. Throw that or combo that shiiit because he shouldn’t be doing it anyways and deserves to pay for the mistake just as Honda should.
But honestly. If i was Honda fighting Gief I would not do buttslam unless I really needed an escape out the corner because in any case that Gief can EX.SPD you have to play his wake up game or get ultra’ed. The risk is not worth it Honda!!
i just beat blanka’s ultra with close lariat…weird
You beat blanka’s ultra with close lariat?
I’m gonna go in training mode and see if I can do that consistently, if so then I don’t have to eat blanka’s ultra when block crouching!
was close but not that close…i think i hit him on his way up…it happened too fast…
I just found out that if you time a c.FP just right you can punch Sagat out of his ultra on start up. might it work with other attacks? I had seen a G-hand do it on one of the threads here, but the timing on that would have to be pure luck
He’s okay, but I don’t think he’s all that. GP is primarily based on who is MMO grinding them the most.
Watch how he handles Sagat here, (which I believe is a 5-5 matchup right?)

I’ve got the audience capture because some of the comments that come out of the crowd are hilarious.
well, im proud of it, as he was sort of my arch-nemesis on champ mode, he always beat me and now I got my vengeance (cue evil laugh)
Anyway, about blanka’s ultra, if you lariat him while he’s in the air after the initial start up of the ultra if you lariat him then you will trade, which does less damage to you than if you block it all believe it or not.
when it happened it didnt trade… lariat beat it clean. but good to know…thank you.
no problem, you must have got pretty lucky or something then, cuz I couldn’t find a way around it without trading.
EX green hand might work, though i imagine you’ll need some insane timing to pull it off.
Ive tried EX Ghand TONS of times. Dont work
I might go home and try jump back mk or cr.mp. I know the ball is vulnerable after the initial frames. You can hit him with pretty much anything once he’s on the ground though. You just have to time it well. But if he’s just sitting there charging and you’re close enough, you can just cr. jab him out of it. But this is only for situations when you know you’ll be killed by the chip damage. If you have the life, you might as well just block and then punish with ultra or at least a SPD. If I know he’ll die by it, I’ll EX GH him after block because that’s usually a 100% guaranteed hit as opposed to the SPD or ultra which I might miss every one in a while due to lag. The ultra timing is also slightly tricky.
i’m thinking gief’s headbutt can hit blanka in the air during his ultra startup. i was playing a few blankas today and i tagged their EX rainbow roll attempts maybe 6/10 times. i hope the same could work against ultra @ the correct distance?
It probably won’t work if you are right next to him. It will never come out before he gets you on your head. I’m not even sure if jumping backwards works because I remember trying that once and getting nailed. I tried to jump immediately after blocking low but the ball came down on me too fast.
Naw. Mabey if Blanka did this stupidly far way you could possibly hit him while rolling. But that would be pointless really. I would X this option out because trying to headbutt a ball of bouncing electricity is a BAD idea. Even if it could break his ultra 6/10 times the risk out weighs the rediculous damage of Blanka’s ultra. Basicly, if you aren’t in the right position ready to block before his ultra comes out you have to take the hit. Just learn to block that shit or don’t crowd Blanka on wake up when he has ultra if you cant afford the chip damage.
