didn’t they say that command grabs in SFV have more start up? Is that the sole reason or is the loss of green hand that huge? at least psychologically to Gief players.
Knee hammer has the same startup as headbutt (12f)
The reward of headbutt is greater than knee hammer, but with shorter range.
(anti-jump knockdown>reset, better damage, better linkage into combo, better stun, better advantage on hit/block…)
The reward of knee hammer is not as good as knee hammer, but it can move gief further distance.
Thus after c.lp, I would follow up with headbutt at first priority if I am close enough.
If the distance is a little bit further away, I will use knee hammer instead in order I can keep pressuring opponent by getting close.
For example, vs cornered & knocked down opponent:
Meatly wake up headbutt>headbutt>clp>knee hammer (to get close)>clp…
Whatever you want, just mix it up with SPD to let them guessing.
Winning when there’s so much ignorance on the table, doesn’t mean much. The game is new and a lot of the meta and strategies are still being developed.
Sure, the slower SPD hurts, but it fits into the meta game of SFV quite nicely. But it’s more the lack of options, dealing with those avoiding the command grab.
Big Z lacks bread and butter hit confirms, especially into EX. And arguably, his CA has limited hit confirm-ability than others. And is almost horrible for option select buffers in the mid range footsie game. Because of his poor mobility, back recovery hurts him.
And getting your damage off of raw SPD is not good, due to the risk. They can rape you for far more than your 240 SPD damage.
@Gemini_hk , I’m referring to using Knee Hammer instead of Headbutt when they jump out of your pressure. For example, a string like crouch LP. (they jump) Headbutt.
Because when you hit a jumping opponent with Headbutt, you get a soft knockdown, and they can back recover and laugh all the way to the bank. =) You know, HKD - Hong Kong Dollars!
In that particular situation, Headbutt does 100 damage (200 stun) but they back recover. Instead we replace that with Knee Hammer, to do 70 damage and 100 stun, and put us right next to them, so we can stay on them.
It’s not without it’s risk, but the anti-jump Knee Hammer can set-up any opening, another Headbutt or HP SPD.

Outside of technical issues, the game is fine. This is just Snake Eyes being salty, even without Capcom Pro Tour tournament numbers would be high; it’s a new SF game.
Well I would agree with both of you actually.
I mean the fact that CPT is tied to SFV as well as at Capcoms behest, lead to them effectively shutting down SFIV including leaving it off EVO despite its huge numbers the year prior whic is insane if you ask me. I bet that if SFIV got one more year they would be probably be neck and neck similar to the Smash community with Meele and smash4.
I also agree with you in that being a new game people will give it a lot of attention. Whether it be that fans that disliked four or were burnt out by it or simply just wanted that new itch. So numbers would be high but I doubt the current avalanche of entrants we have in the tournament scene currently.
Exactly, it’s a new SF so people are playing it. That doesn’t make it a good game at all. The game is not fine imo, far from it.
Good thing players have the option of moving on to other titles instead of sitting around complaining about the ones they dislike.
Looking at it autocorrect is easier in this game and it really hurts Gief…
So the general consensus is to start using v-skill more in our gameplay. I know alot of characters we play have gaps in their block strings that we could v-skill. Anyone have or know of a list of all the characters most common blockstrings? I think this would really up our game.

It would be welcome for sure. I think it would result in more wins. Yeah, would totally support an extra 50hp.
There’s a bug related to combos into Critical Art where it will whiff during a character’s hit-stun recovery; pretty easy to test with combos out of V-Skill Flex.

He needs way more than that to be decent imo. Extra health would be nice but he needs more tools. Unless they gave him like 1500 or something lol.
