/worst_fake_italian_accent: That’s a spicy meat-a-ball! Erm…uhh…yeah :looney:

So if you’re looking for a bigger shaft to go with the bigger balls (*ahem), here you go:

WOOT! Found a Seimitsu shaft extender.

Hm, a 45mm top is significantly larger than I imagined - 10mm doesn’t seem like that much, but I guess it’s almost 1/3 larger.

So, LS 32-01 + shaft extender + round gate + maybe bat top. Of course I’ll still have my Sanwa stick, shaft, and 35mm balltop, too - so I’ll see what combination of those gets some SPD’s going for me. :bgrin:

Thanks a million guys. I couldn’t have found this without you. It’ll be a while before I have the tools available to do the mods (gotta love living in a dorm), but I’ll be sure send updates on how it works out.

Too bad they don’t make the bubble tops in 45mm…

Holy freaking cow. Never player HDR . . . want to now! So . . . Gief can combo into command grab here? MASSIVE forward hitboxes. ( You can jump in on Guile?!?)

I don’t think it’s a true combo, just a massively short window. I went and tried those combos in IV and they work there, too. But like I said, they’re not real “combos” - someone with good timing can still knock you out of it. But if you jump in with HP (not splash - well, you can, but HP is generally better unless you’re crossing up/doing a fake crossup), crouch and tag a couple of LPs, then wait just long enough for them to recover, you can nail them with an SPD. The real bitch is that you have to essentially do a “crouching SPD” - from downforward to straight up. I found it easier to buffer a full 360 motion into the last LP, rather than try to get the 270 after the LP. Then I end up pressing forward around the time they come out of recovery stun. It’s a new concept for me, but a pretty beastly strategy.

Bro, if there’s anything else that you need help with i will try my best and help you with it. I want the gief community to grow so and we have to be able to share information of all kinds.

Yeah for the spd in hdr, it’s better to go from 63217 using the key system for spd notations , or what the japanese guy thought me was, for quick reversal’s on get up for spd’s on hdr but it’s not that practical but it’s still good is to go from 6248 and it will come out almost instantly. I love zangief on hdr but fuck he had alot of terrible terrible match ups. All of my time is dedicated( as far as games go ) to getting better in sf4. I want to honestly become the best zangief in north american…then i want to take a shot at maho and cantona .:wgrin:. But i am fucking so far behind man, … i really have to work hard to get there but i will, i will.

Sweet. Will do man. I’m still pretty green, but I’m at a point where I’m progressing pretty fast - largely because I know more theoretically than I am able to to physically. So every time the technique goes up, my game goes way up.

I find myself with specific kinds of questions all the time I can’t find. How do I beat this, what do I do if Opponent X is spamming move Y. Mind if I add you on Live man? We might not be able to get a decent connection to game now - I’m in NYC - but to ask questions, and come summer I’ll be in South Carolina, so maybe we could get some games going and actually have someone tell me why I’m getting my ass beat!

Cool shit, I alwasy willing to help and sometimes i get my ass kicked so bad, i just want spd my xbox … wait no… throw it up in the air and do giefs new ultra to that shit lol. Well, i play alot of good people, not saying that iam good but i think iam pretty damn decent.Well, i live in georgia so, we might have a good connection hopefully, because i hate laggy matches .

ALso if there’s a scene in south carolina and it’s pretty close shit, i would go there just to get some games in with some decent people but i have to drive to miami,( MY HOME TOWN BABBBBBY) just to find a decent arcade.

I wish man - there’s no scene in SC, I just meant we’d be physically close enough to get a decent ping on XBL. There are a couple arcades in Myrtle Beach - which is where I’m from, and going to be this summer - but they’re mostly for kiddies. DDR and retro games. I haven’t seen so much as a ST machine since I was a kid.

Damn that sucks… that’s why i love the arcade in miami… it’s called " FINALROUND" . Iam not affiliated with them i just chose the name and within like two months, are so, they open up an arcade. They have original st cabinets, original cvs2 cabinet, mvc2,third strike, killer instinct 1,2. Then they have the two bigscreen set up so, you can play against other players on games like hdr and sf4, blazblue and bunch of other game and it’s like 5 bucks or 7 bucks for the whole day dude that’s sick. I might go down there next week. i love offline gaming

Oh, so jealous - but, then again, Chinatown Fair Arcade, which is awesome, is downtown. It’s just usually crowded. I might have to make a road trip to Florida this summer.

ECZangief in the trading outlet makes Circular gates for JLFs by hand. I just picked one up from him, you may want to think about doing the same.

So damn tired i played like 80 games with gief today maybe more:nunchuck:. Damn chinatown fair that sounds fucking sweet that arcade that i was talking about is 5 hours away lol

Yea, it’s a famous arcade - it just happens to be this little dingy hole in the wall in a pretty sketch neighborhood.

Don’t mean to raise the dead, but I wonder if the OP ever got 720-ing on a square gate down? I finally, FINALLY think I’m comfortable doing it. My problem was that I was doing the 720 motion too fast. In SFIV, 720s and 360s are way easier than they are in any other Capcom fighter; I went back to Alpha 2, 3 and HDR and could never do it. A few times practicing and I finally got it. Perhaps doing it so fast may have been the problem. I’ve been messed up by the “standing/walking” 720 videos.

The only thing that cause me a headache is… “Japanese is better”… “Daigo is Japanese”, “Japanese sticks”, … … … . i mean what the… I’m playing an arcade game, a 2d fighter, Street Fighter, i wanna feel the game, the classic arcade feel, spd is an spd not just a “flick of the wrist”. :frowning: If something is smaller that doesn’t mean it’s better, netbook < desktop pc… I tried both sticks, and i used to play on korean sticks, from my preference Sanwa parts were the worst, while i’m reading threads about, hey don’t mash your stick, it’s gonna broke. It’s amusement thats why i’m still playing arcade games, that’s the true feeling. (the motions were made like this, to feel it when you are standing in front of the cabinet that you did an spd) So yes choose what’s comfortable and practice makes the master.

Instead of talking about the stick and what gate being better, I think human adaptability is most supreme.

It is cheaper for you to adapt to what you got than for what you got to adapt to you. I wish people would try to be so awesome that you can play effectively on both types of sticks.

Not to brag, as I really don’t think I’m great or anything… but I love using my TE Fightstick with a square gate, octogate, and my saturn controller usb pad. My preference would be the pad, as that is what I am most used to. However, I love using sticks as it gives me easier access to the buttons. I do better with the square gate when using charge-based characters, and the octogate makes it just slightly better for me to use hadouken/srk type motions.

I’d like to add here that as far as square gates go, the LS-32-01’s gate is smooth like butter. I don’t know man, but the corners on this thing are very smooth and don’t seem to have the HARD right angle that annoys they hell out of most people with other gates.

Square gate on the Seimitsu ftw!

The best gate I think, for Zangief would be a hybrid arcade stick:

  • With a standard square gate so you can perform option selects, block and jump
  • And an additional thumb analog (like on xbox), so your thumb could quickly twirl to get out 360’s and 720’s.
  • Place the analog on the ball top of the stick, so you can 360’s with your thumb and perform standard movements with the stick.
  • You get the best of both world’s, you can play like itabashi, snake eyez and vangief.

It would be amazing, if it works.

Else, just place the analog somewhere on the stick. But seriously, if all sticks had a secondary analog, players would become more dangerous. Easier effort with less error.
Walking 720’s, partial buffer U2, perfect 7 frame U2 and more ranged LP SPD.
