OK, finally news on the content provider situation. Advice will be appreciated.
SO:
- I will probably get that $600 back
- I’m their biggest “server” customer now.
- I pay $120/month
*I “should” only get 1.5MBps (475GB/month transfer) - I can buy up to 10MBps (3.1TB/month).
- They sell each additional 1MBps (320GB/month) bandwidth at $50
- Right now I’m on pace for 2TB/month even with the server way way throttled. It was up to 6TB.
So in theory I can pay… $375/month here for 2TB/month. That seems nuts.
I am leaning towards getting some kind of temporary solution with them and immediately beginning a move to something like DreamHost.
If anybody has better ideas, lemme know.

OK, big news part one:
- I got the $1000 for servbot.net credited to my other account
- The random $600 should be credited back too
- That’s all awesome news. Just need to point that out.
- The site will likely need to be immediately moved to a new provider. I’ve sent mail and have the wheels in motion.
FMJ pointed me to a site, fdcservers.net , that will apparently sell me a 250GB HD + unlimited bandwidth for $149/month (probable maximum throughput would be 5-9TB/month). So that would be awesome and could actually be a permanent(?) solution. It appears the current iteration of zachd.com was randomly insane according to Infinity Internet and they never noticed.
Bear in mind that at 250GB, that would hold my ENTIRE Marvel collection (~140GB). Every file. So… yeah, potentially this is just Pure Win, at only $20/month over what I have now.
So I’ll talk with the sales guys at both companies tomorrow and see what’s up. I will try to get this all finished by Monday. There is a ton of content out there that’s been coming out (FRX from two people, old Evo, new combo videos, other stuff), and I will desperately try to get all of this stuff up and to you ASAP.

I still just remember how cool it was to jack the Tricks of the Trade videos from DJ-B13’s AIM account, and all that kind of thing, and I’m still just trying to give back to everyone back then who did so much to get me interested.

Thanks to MrWizard’s extensive plesk knowledge, zachd v2 is up and limping along. I plan on putting the backbone in place overnight, and I’ll give you guys the new temporary IP URL by about next Sunday, and then I’ll work with my service provider to transfer the domain.
I did confirm I get the $600 overage charge back too. So I am getting a full refund from those guys, and it seemed like they owned up to their mistakes in this whole fiasco. Their bandwidth limits are about 464GB/month, which turns out to be impractical for what we’re doing.
Like I said, the new server is up and running. If there was footage you needed to send me, lemme know and I’ll hook you up with it (Bernie, ‘Nellie’, you guys should be set, Nano was going to send me it in mail). I will be putting up my entire archives as time allows, starting with what I had up and then going from there. As such, I will likely be off the Smash hub for a while, but when I’m back it’ll be with 3x quicker downloads from my PC thanks to FIOS. So this should just be all around pure win.
