Julio against Justin Wong at SCR was really cool. Julio used Genei Jin on block to get the win against Justin. It got me thinking to what I should do if I do use GJ on block and am trying to close out the round. Ideas?
Reset into Zenpou Tenshin. You will have enough time for one on block. At least that’s what i would do.
There’s some listed in lee’s yun ae 2012 sticky.
Regardless of the changes, I’m never gonna drop my main nigga Yun. Never. Genei Jin until the end.
…b-b-but Yun is chinese. Y-y-your main chigga Yun?
When I do cr.lp cl.lp cr.mp cr.mk, the cr.mk seems to whiff on a few characters (Gen, Sagat). Is this supposed to happen?
you have to be deeper when you start off the first jab. example, if you divekick and hit ankles this combo wont work on many characters. get a hit on waist/thigh area and this combo works on everyone (standing). If you want to still get lunges for spacing/pushing towards corner during combos and have it guaranteed without the risk of cr.mk whiffing, use blanka combo.
Thanks for the answer!
For a little clarification, I don’t think I’m late or too far away - Yun’s foot/leg on the cr.mk looks like it goes through the other character and it’s like the other character’s on-hit animation makes them lose a lower hitbox. I will try getting a little higher and the blanka combo, awesome
What do I input to do kara palm for genei jin combos?
You use st.mk for the kara palm. Few notes:
-for the plink press st.mk first
- you CANNOT do the df,d,db,b, it has to be just a qcb and nothing more, otherwise you’ll get a command grab.
cr.lp/lk, cl.lp, cr.mp, cr.mk xx lunge shouldn’t be used that often unless for spacing or if you want to stop people from standing.
After 4 hits HK Upkicks will whiff on a few standing characters, namely Ryu, Ken, Evil Ryu, Sakura, Adon and El Fuerte, instead you’ll have to do MK Upkicks ender on them when they are standing. Unfortunately you’ll lose around 20 damage. A more damaging combo for these standing characters would be ending it with cr.mk xx mp lunge. The problem with this is; unless you are pointblank this combo is very annoying to pull of on the aforementioned standing characters, it works on Sakura for example but a pixel off and it will whiff. You should almost always use this combo only on crouching characters, but if they are crouching you might as well go for the st.mp xx HK Upkicks ender.
General rule for Ryu, Ken, Evil Ryu, Sakura, Adon and El Fuerte:
Standing - st.mp xx MK Upkicks ender.
Crouching - st. mp xx HK Upkicks or cr.mk xx mp lunge ender
What do the changes in ultra mean for yun? He gets a little damage buff for BnB stuff, but did they nerf his wakeup game? I’m confused as to what the changes mean for him.
Yeah they nerfed his wakeup, but at least we keep our godlike backdash. So you can still backdash on wakeup, and it’ll be a mindgame as to whether to wakeup to with HK for low meaty attacks vs LK dp for standing meaty on your wakeup. That’s how it’s looking to me at least.
That stupid +10 damage buff changes nothing, his commandfrab range was nerfed, now it does 1 point of damage,HK upkicks are only invincibile to lower attacks,So now u have to guess between lk upkicks and Hk upkicks.
That’s pretty lame. I’ve only started to play yun recently and even in this version his wakeup options seem to be extremely risky considering you can’t cancel out of them… seems like a really pointless and harsh nerf. What’s with the command grab range nerf? It seems perfectly fine as it is, the range is crap unless you kara. I don’t remember seeing a command grab nerf for yang. -.-
Oh and yeah the damage buff is pretty tiny and only there because he’s being nerfed but hey, damage is damage!
Yup doesn’t make sense why’d they nerf his dp when he already has low health (and it was non-fadc). THey keep E.Ryu’s srk invincibility and buff his health though… Yang’s command grab wasn’t nerfed for range because it already was worse than Yun’s, and I guess still is (1.0 to .96 lol).
I must be doing it wrong. Because his backdash doesn’t seem godlike to me. I always take a jab or so.
The command throw nerf didn’t do that much… his BNB still does 207 instead of 212. The only place it makes a difference is combos into ultra 20-30 damage reduction.
Plus yun gained a lot of sick EX red focus high stun combos. I also think dive kick characters are going to dominate in this game because of DWU. Some of the Japanese players have already said that yun is top/high tier.
Bonchan said that but he’s on crack.
Yun just about makes top 10 in AE2012 and considering he’s getting nerfed he’s definitely going down a tier. How can dwu HELP him or other divekickers for that matter? He relies on relentless pressure and DWU takes the momentum away from relentless pressure, just like it does with vortex characters. DWU works AGAINST yun… the only thing the DWU mechanic does to help yun is slightly balance out the fact that his wakeup game got nerfed.
Yuns BAD matchups got buffs (hawk, gief etc) and a ton of yuns 5-5 matchups got huge buffs while yun got nerfs. Quite literally everything about yun and his matchups have gotten worse (not by much, but still worse). On paper there is no way yun will be better in ultra so I dunno what the hell bonchan is talking about unless there is some magical aspect of ultra that the japanese haven’t told us about yet.
Also, I can’t see red focus being valuable to yun. Genei jin is a game changer in so many situations.
EDIT: So it seems red focus isn’t as gimmicky as I thought, level 1 focus combos are big damage and stun for every character. I have no doubt that yun will be a solid character, his playstyle is designed to open up people who can’t defend with amazing pressure, but i’m 99% sure he’ll be worse in ultra due to his nerfs and matchup buffs. As for system changes, it remains to be seen how useful red focus will be but the DWU is definitely a nerf for yuns gameplay.
Yeah Gief didn’t get buffed so lol at that. Hawk will probably be a hard match up now but eh. Sagat could be really tough but pocket characters exist.
Yun still really good, never thought about dropping him reading his changes. He didn’t really get anything he needed but he got better at doing what he already does. Some RFA combos can probably use use backdash EX Palm for MP Shoulder, meaty non-EX Palms, and other good stuff. Karagrab is actually easier to do than I thought it was; just hard to get in the habit of actually going for the motion during a string…
