Oh my bad, I thought those were double palm combos, cuz he said qcb MP/HP instead of qcb MP+HP (to denote EX usage and not regular palm). Actually all of the combo wording is quite confusing.

DFL can’t you use symbols or some shit instead of saying “dp LP” which most people would think like upkicks and not shoulder.

I’d say it’s definitely due to less damage scaling.

Mago uses plinks on his two frame links, he also instructs new players to do the same. Double tapping two frame links is not as good because double tapping is inconsistent and impossible to practice. Mr. Troll, aka dickhead, never misses his double taps, so for him plinking is useless. Players daigo and mago plink instead. For instance, how do you know you are doing a double tap correctly when you go from cr.MP to st.MP? You don’t. How do you practice it in training mode? Why would you ever put holes in your attacks, when you can just extend them with plinking?

Just post a replay of a good yun player using double taps over plinks?

On Mago’s new show, he is teaching and he demonstrated doing the two frame link by plinking - NOT double tapping. I guess Mago needs to be spoonfed by you. You would have to let him know what an idiot he was, etc…

Question:

Why use st.MP x LKDP, lunge instead of st.MP x MK/HKDP? The first does only slightly more stun but less damage. Are the mixups better off of lunge instead of upkicks?

Those were double palm combos. The ex palm he was talking about is:

FA3 (backdash if you’re in the corner) qcb PP dp LP qcf HP - 416 damage/670 stun

let me re-word.
I’m trying to figure why this combo might be advantageous over this other one:
st.MP x LK Upkicks, Lunge versus st.MP x MK/HK Upkicks

If you combo lunge after I’m presuming lk upkicks is only hitting once, which means you could also do U1 instead of jab lunge, it also might do more stun

Dk-cr mp2x-st mp-lk dp-mp lp= 288/441/85-90% of a stock
Dk-cr mp2x-st mp-mk dp= 281/426/75% of a stock
Dk-cr mp2x-st mp-hk dp= 287/456/75% of a stock
You get more meter and little bit more stun basically. Plus it looks sexier.
They have to be standing for lk/mk dp to connect but you have to be closer for hk dp to connect
Also as Latino Kourck said you can U1 for no meter

What are my follow-up options after landing an EX Lunge Punch on an airborne opponent? It seems like they’re too high in the air to connect anything but U1…

Quick question, does anything connect after shoulder FADC? It looks like they’re in the air forever but upkicks whiff through them and I can’t seem to hit them with ultra. I haven’t seen anyone FADC a shoulder on hit in videos, so what’s the deal?

edit: the best I can do is mp shoulder FADC ex lunge, but that’s 3 meters for like 200 damage, seems like a waste

I dunno about you, but I’m definitely able to MP/HP shoulder xx FADC , Lunge or U1.

It’s like Adon FADC-ing into U2, you need to pause a tiny bit. When you first FADC the shoulder, Yun is actually ahead of the person you’re hitting. That might be your issue?

its actually mago+tokido show… part of the TOPANGA project where they take one beginner player and train him for im not sure how long… i tried to apply for it but then tokido told me “you aint no beginner LOL”… apparently i didnt realize that its strictly for beginners lol

try searching topanga mago tokido on youtube or something… not really useful if you dont know japanese though.

I’m used to doing FADC Ultra as fast as possible, but with the HP shoulder especially it’s easy to “over-dash” while the other guy is in the air, so Yun is in front of the opponent in the air and I would end up getting an EX plam or EX shoulder the other way instead of ultra.
Slowed it down a bit and now it works.

quick question. Does Yun’s command grab have any kind of hit invincibility, low or full?

The EX Version cannot be counter thrown for first 6 frames. Regular version can be thrown.

The EX version also has some really good range.
