Yun Match-up Thread

your talking to a guy who likes playing fuerte mirrors. Yun mirrors seem like ryu vs ryu when compared to elf lol

I agree. Yun mirrors are really annoying and the opposite of fun for me. It’s almost as dumb as a Viper Mirror. If I know my opponent/friend uses Yun I’ll pick someone else 9 times out of 10.

Even with that written up info about blanka I just have hell and back with him

Blanka is free for yun in my opinion.

can someone PLEASE HELP ME IN THE SIM MATCH i heard it was 7-3 yun but i don`t see how its supposed to be that easy

All you need to do is get in once and Dhalsim is done. You can pretty much pressure him for free and he can’t do a whole lot. If you’re full screen build meter with palm.

need some help with akuma matchup its too hard he can zone me with fireballs, st.hp and **shoryuken mash **

what i know… when he spams fireball i try to use lk divekick then jump with mk to start a combo… also on wakeup i os his teleport with hp lounge…
sry about my enlgish…

use focus absorb to dash in and start your pressure

if he air fireballs… then HP lunge punch

if hes playing a heavy ground fireball game then you use your HP shoulder right when you predict him to shoot one

Make him scared to use his fireballs then use smart pressure

Do…NOT use lk divekick to start. It almost never hits low enough for you to be positive on block, unless you get a counter hit or are attempting it when they are knocked down (for a crossup) or crouching. Do fake divekicks and build palm from far away. Medium/Heavy Shoulder to get through fireballs. You can quickly close the distance with ex lunge into mixups. Watch out for akuma’s sweep, it is the foundation for his vortex, which is still deadly despite the fact that Yun can get out of part of his vortex. I recommend you don’t play footsies with him. Just try applying pressure using cl. smp/cmk shoulder and get in with medium/heavy divekick. When you are doing your block strings, leave a slight gap/delay and walk back to bait out his shoryuken. Punish after obviously. Make sure you don’t mash dp after a forward through. Akuma has a safe jump setup on yun with that throw. Hope that helped.

Can someone help me with some of the charge/turtle character match up like Guile, Dee Jay and Honda. I cant event get in. With Dee Jay it is like he has more tools to turtle than Guile. The only way I can get in is to use shoulder when they are shooting projectile, but for guile it is almost useless since he recovers so damn quicky.

Not to mention I have bad performance toward nearly all charge character, like Balrog, Blanka, Vega. Dont know why, but found it very hard to get in

you should be able to punish all of guiles and deejays booms with ex shoulder for free and crossups rape guile wakeup against honda you dont really have to get in just stay back and build meter and fake palm to try to get him to headbutt punish a palm all but EX and Lp. headbutt are punishable so if your out of range u can punish all of his headbutts with a lunge punch and once hes near you go nuts cause he cant get away easily just be wary of EX moves on wakeup but crossup divekick beats most out anyways
on blanka everything he does is punishable on block whiffed up balls are free with lunge punch and if he doesnt have EX just meaty all of his wake up it will always win

i don’t think yun can be vortex’d because in this video all clakey D did after neckbraker was safe jump and on forward throw he at a DP for tryin to kunai any vortex or cross-up daigo just DP’d or for focus dashed

I can ex shoulder deejay, but guile recovery so fast that I cant. 2nd, every time i try to cross up, i eat an ex headbutt or he just fly away. He deal damage like a ton, 2-3 headbutt and my Yun nearly die. His NJ.HP stuff Dive kick so he is like a brick wall that I cannot get in.

Also for Guile, once I get in it is easy, but my point is HOW TO GET IN. IT IS SO HARD.

ClakeyD is fail. Ibuki needs to land on the other side to be safe from dp’s. And focus dashes can be punished on reaction with sweep/raida/whatever. It’s just that Clakey wasn’t looking for them.

Plz don’t laugh but I need to know how to approach good sim players. I eat too many pokes on the way in which usually costs me the match. I also need to know what pressure tools work best (block strings and stuff) :frowning:

Same here. I never played Rufus before Yun so idk why it’s bad for Dhalsim. Well not that I don’t know why, but I want to know how to make it bad for dhalsim. Matchup tips?

Yun Dive Kick can change direction i think. 3 different Angle make it hard to punish. Also the palm shut down nearly all dhalsim poke. Shoulder shut down projectile. Not to mention lunge punch to close space and very heavy pressure block strings. If dhalsim block too much, zempo tenshin him and start to combo.

Some one mention it before that dhalsim is yun favourite also because of dhalsim floaty knock down. It is way way easier to juggle dhalsim compare to other character

One of the keys to the Sim/Yun match up is that you want to try and push Sim to the corner. This is a universal thing for most characters because Sim’s getaway options are highly cut off there.

Focusing through st. hp can be beneficial in getting in on Sim. So always remember that. Also, Sim has to be quite careful about throwing fireballs when Yun has EX. Most time it leads to a free EX shoulder(watch the spacing since good Sims will space their fireballs accordingly to swat you out of the shoulder). This reduces Sim in most cases into only using fireballs as meaties on wakeup. I haven’t tested it, but I don’t thing cr. normal/mk dive kick OS lunge punch doesn’t auto correct to catch teleports the other way. I’m not sure though.

Also a little tidbit to help in the Rose matchup: after a combo that ends in up kicks, meaty mk dive kick(aimed at the toes) OS close st. mp beats all of her options. Here is a rundown of what happens with all of them.

backdash: gets hit by far st. mp
EX soul throw: whiffs
EX spiral: gets counter hit by close st. mp
U1: gets blocked
U2: stuffed

Hope this helps.

What do you guys do against decent Kens? Most of the time they play some footsie or just jump randomly back and forth with j.hk or whatever.
If I get in I often get DP’d, if not then it’s guessing time again, because we’re poking eachother again and his karagrab is just a fucking pain in the ass.
Lost 1000pp from 3500 to 2500 today while playing against several Kens, maybe it was just a bad day, but I had a pretty bad loosing streak.
