Um, Sakura plays completely different from Ryu but okay.
I gotta agree… Sakura isn’t some god and Yun’s mix-ups are amazing… I think its 6-4 in Yuns favour.
i did both LK and MK dive kicks and it beat flash kick. the only thing is…the guile i played was kinda weak but it look like LK dive kick works
Anybody got any info on the Vega match up? I got slammed by a Vega the other night, and couldn’t figure it out.
honestly what i do with vega match up is wait when he does his wall dive crap and punish with a light or medium lunge. when you add some dive kick cross up pressure he will do that flip that has invincibly i punish with that with lunge. most of Vegas moves can be punish. just dont let Vegas get you with the wall dive crap. the only thing you cant fully punish is the roll attack i believe.
I’m pretty sure Sakura is in the high or mid high tier lists now. I admit 7-3 is ridiculous, I’ll take that back.
Still, you guys are underestimating Sakura. The Sakura’s that I see online are terrible, don’t base your matchup opinions from those guys. Try challenging some good players like Fergus2k8/Skatan/Robin R Ramirez and you’ll see what I mean.
People can safe jump her all day and she can’t do anything about it, where you can’t with Ryu, that’s why I’m saying she’s like a worse version of Ryu. And I just don’t see why Sakura’s mix up play style would contribute anything to match up. IMO a lot of match ups are tilted one way cause of the character’s basic move properties (eg: Balrog rush punch against blanka balls, or Guile U2/ st.towards HP against T.hawk dives, Yun dive kicks against Dhalsim, etc), but feel free to disagree.
Hm, neat-o, thanks. I’ll try some of that stuff out in a couple of weeks. Hopefully il be able to contribute something to that matchup afterwards.
vs vega
medium lunge punch punishes blocked sky high claw, unless the vega I played just now didn’t block, hit him 3 times in 1 match.
watch the video review. do the inputs on the screen to see if he blocked. i do that and man…do i see a shitload of mashers LMAO.
I’m so lost in the fuerte matchup help please.
HP lunge should work too
Fuerte is tough because he plays an entirely different game. Its especially bad online where his wakeup game is impossible to react to.
DP as soon as he commits to one of his air attacks and you should either win or sail away.
Remember that your HK dragon kick has great horizontal range high in the air.
I play against a very runaway fuerte, so he gets a hit or two and runs for the hills. It’s very frustrating.
Fuerte is free for yun just walk at him and focus if hes the runaway type just walk him close to the corner and wait for the wall jump and dp it. Every option he has while running at u except for bait loses to dp so just react dont guess thats how u lose to elf…
Vs Abel
Careful with your dive kicks - I know this goes for every match up but if you land them too high he can get a free TT which means that he can start his mix up offense which you don’t want. He can also stuff them pretty clean with standing medium punch/neutral mk if they are too telegraphed (the timing can be a little tough on this one so faking dives and just jumping in can work pretty well sometimes)
Jumping in/meaty hits on wake up - Option select grab/command grab can be useful here as if he tries to ex roll away you’ll catch him, if he tries to ex tt to blow up your safe jump grab can beat this too.
His sweep is slow as hell, look out for it and you can easily counter poke it. Finally try not to whiff too much when he’s around his f -mk range it’s very easy for him to react to it and get a huge combo on you.
Just my £2 on this match up.
Any ideas on cody as soon as I apply pressure the bingo punch becomes a factor.
Aw shucks
Bingo is really punishable on block. Bait/punish like usual.
I’ve read a few pages back about this Adon player saying he can’t do anything against Yun, I’m just the opposite, I can’t beat any Adon players around, any tips?
Shut down jaguar kick spam with reaction upkicks or U1. This is important. Adon should never ever be able to jaguar kick you unless you’re already pushing a button. Try your best to stay just outside his st.HK. This way, he cannot fake a lk.jaguar kick and you’ll be within range to whiff punish his primary poke, as well as his cr.HK.
Once you’re at this range, and he’s not JK spamming, feel free to abuse your own quick normals such as st.MP for blockstring pressure or possible knockdowns.
