I posted this in character specific combos thread but add it here also. Against Poison. cr.strong, cl.st.strong, ex-lunge, to ultra 1. Links anywhere on screen for 451 and 1 bar.
Cool! Gotta test that one out. Thanks for the info.
Is the link tight?
Not at all. Mash the ultra if you have to. It nearly looks like she should drop out of it and then the ultra will hit.
thanks alot for posting my info dipshit! lol jk
if you are super god like you can do the forgotten ae command throw combo. do tenshin slightly walkforward cl.st mp and do it but its one frame and only people ive seen doing it during ae was kazunoko and daigo.
You can also do walk forward Target Combo 5 > ex lunge. Scales the combo more but the startup on close lp is 3frame which makes it easier than close medium (4 frame) and gives you the opportunity to see if you missed the link so that you can cancel into shoulder for a blockstring instead.
I’ve got two solid Decapre players in my area, and it’s already becoming a headache. I played a first to 3 last night and winning it barely 3-2 only because I had to outplay the player this time.
I don’t think Yun steamrolls this match like other matches. She has good ways to deal with approaches from the air and ground, and she can pressure from the ground with normal xx rapid slashes.
You can’t even use far st. mp at certain ranges vs. her. She can actually reversal it on block. This goes for if you cancel it into something too. Also, she gets a safe jump from lp rapid slashes. Also, she can max range cr. mk to meaty and it makes all upkicks miss. Then she gets a huge combo plus the same situation.
I will be doing some studying and testing this week extensively on her to see if there is anything specific for her or some new tactics to employ vs her. Seems like a struggle at this moment though.
I guess the big poing against Decapre is when you put her down always remember that each of her DP is only invincible to hit/throws/projectiles depending on the button, except for the Ex.
You can also try to regain momentum after LP hands with s.LK, Ex.Lunge. That’ll make for some occasions to punish when they decide to do their reversal. I have yet to test if you can grab her with Ex Kara cmd grab from there, but if you can that’ll make a neat mixup, making doing hand not that appealing.
Oh yeah and they have some setup where they want to fish with cr.MK/s.LP hands. Use Red Focus in that. I guess you have to abuse it since with the combo + the hits you’re getting so much meter back.
Last thing, nj.HP can beat her LP sommersault if done after invincible frames. Netting us a dive kick/nj.HP mxup. Even though the hitbox of that move is really huge.
BTW most Decapre’s I fought against online might not the best.
And i’m a scrub at this game, so take everything I said with a big grain of salt.
Does anyone have any particular matchup advice/tips with Decapre? I’ve been having a lot of trouble with the character so far.
Hello guys, I’ll be facing a claw soon, does anyone have any tips regarding this matchup?
Most of my problems come from punishing gimmicky stuff he does, but I guess I can check out most of the ways on training mode, but if anyone has any tips (combos, setups etc.) I would be extremely grateful
Peace
Saw you guys talking about yun vs decapre and ran into this lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z2hPBtJF2o
i was playing against my friend kelvin’s poison last night and got wrecked, but learned a lot of tech!
Yun can just neutral jump on poisons wakeup and if she does wake up uppercut, the uppercut will go up with YUn but won’t hit him, so you fall down with her and punish hard.( don’t hit her in the air and knock her out). The best part of all this is if she DOESN’T do wake up uppercut, since your neutral jumping already you can just press early strong as your falling down to continue pressure.
You can even do ex lunge and neutral jump if you think she’ll uppercut. it will avoid her uppercut and you can fuck her up real good.
Her flippy kick is -1, if you do press buttons after blocking it, you have to do low jab then stand jab into strong xx upkicks. If you do low jab low short then stand jab, the stand jab willl always whiff.
Her ex flippy kick is +2, just respect it
If Poison hits Yun with uppercut FADC then resets with low fierce xx fireball, you can ultra her as you fall and it’ll hit. haven’t tested this for every fireball but it seems to punish all of them ( i believe he was doing uppercut fadc, low fierce xx FIERCE fireball, which is the safest so Yun can punish all of them. Just react to low fierce xx fireball and get let that ultra rip.
Another thing i noticed is when i was playing Evil Ryu VS Poison, whenever she did flippy kick i could reaction uppercut it very easily. Even if she whiffs it intentionally in an attempt to make you whiff your uppercut, she has such a large hurtbox that i would reaction uppercut and STILL hit her. it looks so funky cause shes SUPER far away and i can still get one hit of my fierce uppercut to land on her. so definitely huge hurtbox on that flippy kick.
Remember her overhead is -8 but i would practice punishing this in training mode cause i always let him get away with it, it is very awkward because it can hit deep or it can hit super early.
That’s all i’ve discovered so far!
Nice, good finds man
Get an opportunity to cl.mp xx ex lunge, U1 him at all? Haha
@whooisodis Against Poison end your combos with dp.LK, whiff s.LP, j.MK crossup, safe jump all her DPs (OS lunge for backdashes). Mix with Dive kick. Free.
(Tested only on cr.MP,cr.MP,s.MP,dp.LK for now)
With a slight delay after the s.LP the DP even whiffs.
Works on at least with the same timing:
E.Honda (Crossup but no whiff on Ex Doskoi)
Seth (Weird seems inconsistent)
Gouken (Avoid Tatsu/Super)
Akuma (Crossup, no whiff on MP/Ex DP)
Oni (No whiff Ex DP)
Yun
Dhalsim
Abel
Dictator
Cammy
Hakan
Rolento
Poison
Eryu (Crossup but no whiffs)
Guile
Zangief (Crossup no whiffs)
Claw
Adon
Yang (No whiffs on Ex DP)
Fei Long
Haha that would be cool but i never trust myself doing ex lunge ultra 1s on floaty characters, i only went for ex lunge into jab lunge but kept missing it . I just assumed it should work if shes floaty enough for the ultra to work, must practice it more against her.
Weirdly enough, I have some issues against Gouken.
Any pointers on how to approach the neutral game ? His buttons are amazing, I often find myself getting poked to death by farHK or crMP fireball. Jumping can work by making him guess between divekicks and jMK / jMP but he has pretty good options like ex tatsu, jMP, or far HP that are all very damaging.
I learned yun can backdash for free against Hugo this weekend, my buddy was getting reads on my back dashes with reaction U2 (which should work). It turns out it doesn’t seem to work on any character with a cartwheel back dash (yun, yang, cammy, juri etc)
Thus we get away from his ultra for free~
What in the world am I supposed to do against gief/hawk/hugo? These fights are like a nightmare for me if the the player is competent.
You gotta really condition them, if you really want to win these matches against very strong players you gotta take into account every step you take with Yun.
Against Gief you can mess around with his lariat, what i’ll do sometimes is i’ll neutral jump in front of them (just outside of lariat distance) and it LOOKS like zangief can hit yun (or they anticipate a divekick) and whiff the lariat, which you then punish with stand strong xx upkicks.
Then it gets interesting, after you’ve conditioned them to hesitate on their lariats, you do delayed divekicks and blam, it hits. It works SO WELL against gief players. Other than that i would avoid using stand strong against gief because they can whiff punish very hard ( strong chop, short short ex greenhand ugh its nasty).
I’ve noticed that you literally can just press medium kick and chill because its the one button Zangief can’t beat, and he’ll be too afraid to guess lariat and if he does (punish him) and always stay on your toes. Also you should do REALLY hard to see sneaky jab shoulders (if jab shoulder trades and you can react in time, you can follow it up with stand short lunge or something else). And of course don’t forget your occassional roundhouse and fierce, just don’t get jumped in on when you use it.
As for hugo, you can literally divekick jump back strong ALL DAY against him when he has no meter, since your jump back strong will hit him regardless of fuzzy guard or not, you can just take free damage from him until he gets his meter and uses EX backbreaker. This is literally free damage and there’s close to NOTHING that he can do when he has no meter/beginning of the round.
Also stand forward is godlike against hugo, its the only button you need. You stay just outside of his clap range in neutral game so if he claps or whiffs a fierce punch, you can react punish with stand strong xx shoulder.
Also you should do divekick and guess grab because if he does ex piledriver as a reversal, your grab will win. If he does ex backbreaker as a reversal and you stay on the ground and whiff the grab and then you can ex shoulder (or lunge) to punish him falling down from his ex backbreaker.
Hugos like to put out low shorts and have them buffered up to clap cancel, sometimes i’ll stick out stand forward but get caught with low short xx clap into low jab xx lariat. Use stand roundhouse at max distance and it’ll beat his low short clean.
As for T.hawk its scary because of his jump in divekick or w/e, but if your dealing with condor spire pressure you can just reaction uppercut with short upkicks (did this shit to Hung b from socal and it worked wonders)
If he sweeps a lot you can block the first hit and reaction ex.palm , the second kick will whiff and your ex palm will hit him HARD. Mashing ex uppercut works well too.
If you play in close proximity just outside his pokes, you can just stick out low strong xx lunge and it BEATS a lot of shit, so if he sticks out a limb and you have your strong out, you’ll tag him and get low strong xx lunge.
Thanks! Ill keep this info in mind.
Can anyone give some insight into the Balrog and Adon matchup? I’m heaving alot of trouble with these two characters at the moment.
With Cody i know my way around a bit better against these characters but i want to approach these matchups with Yun.
