From the looks of this video Geif vs Yun is not going to be half as bad as it’s being made out to be.

played a bit today. so against t.hawk palms are godlike. dives either get stuffed or beat clean always in my favor. if he whiffs the condor dive? (the one that goes straight) lunge punch or far fierce on reaction to knock him across screen while you start palming to build meter again. if he does whiff it closer to you you can st.mp shoulder activate. risky to try to AA with light rising kicks against hawk because his dive will beat it. maybe ex rising kick for more invincibility?

also against yang it can get annoying because his jabs are fast + he gets frame advantage. i tried to do the st.mp shoulder lockdown thing or w/e (its not that good but i wanted to do it) and yang can just st.lp x 2 low forward slash or w/e. if you see him jump dive kick you can neutral jump fierce to beat it. if he does cr.mk slash and stops after the 1st one i was able to cr.mk dash punch. dae did slash slash (2nd one hit me at the very tip) and i was able to punish with cr.mk dash also.

against ryu, blocked sweep = lp lunge punch. possibly U2? couldnt get it out kept messing u pthe inputs i guess. random hurricane kick ex lk rising kicks activate in to GJ combo.

oh yeah and if you AA with short rising kick and only hit on the 2nd one you can still juggle with lp lunge.

i tried messing with ex palm, you can combo a lunge punch after it, i tried doing U1 after since yang can U2 after his ex palm. seems like you cant or there is some tricky timing to it. maybe even take a pixel step forward then U1 but i dunno. so far i only see ex palm useful after a crumple but even then i would rather do cr.mp x 2 st.mp x w/e to get more meter.

You can’t EX upkick xx GJ, I guess you mean LK upkick xx GJ. Tokido said that Daigo does MK upkick xx GJ.

When you do upkicks, does it cancel into GJ? Or do you do it after you land and you juggle from there?

i didnt mean ex i meant “=” hah. but yeah i used lk. i guess you could use mk but if you are going to use it as AA lk is better because more invincibility than mk. it doesnt cancel how the fuck would that work? you land and activate…

You can cancel a lot of DP moves into super, like shoto DP xx super, Fei Long has it for one of his trials. Just curious.

well if you cant fadc it i dont think you can cancel super.

i see fuerte giving yun problems.

I see characters who move around alot giving yun problems. :stuck_out_tongue: aka super jump characters.

i dont know about viper giving him problems. gotta play it to really see. but yeah i definitely see fuerte being a problem.

oh yeah, against grapplers dont dive kick in. really risky and it definitely doesnt put you in a good position. against hawk i dive kicked in, literally held up and his spd beat me. dunno if stick malfunction or something but im pretty sure that mis spaced dive = free spd.

It IS a free SPD.

This isn’t a proper match-up thread though. Either we fix it or make a new one.

The game has been out a week, lets not get too carried away ,we have a lot more time to gain match up knowledge.

The frame data for yun isnt even out yet so just give this thread time and it will probably be used alot more…

  • vs Makoto: I got rocked HARD by our local Makoto player. Meaty ass mp is sickening. Buff cr.lk xx EX Hayate is crazy good. Also, Fukiage is a very legit anti-air compared to console. Comes out VERY FAST and has a bigger hitbox. Gotta be weary about jumping in and footsies at this point, especially against the corner with her being able to combo into lp.fukiage after EX Hayate. How was the Yun vs Makoto matchup in 3s? I feel like this matchup has to be played very cautiously since Makoto’s job is to get in and finish the round in less then 10 seconds. I dunno if EX Dragon kick will beat EX Hayate on block. I think it recovers a bit faster. Will test it out.

  • vs Dudley: As I’ve mentioned above, EX roll goes under some of Dudley’s pokes (f.hp, and duck xx punch) More testing will be done to prove this for good. Dudley wasn’t scary when he has no meter since meterless uppercut is ass, but when he has meter, I tended to back off a bit on the dive kick pressures. As for punishing blocked EX Machine Gun, I just EX Dragon Kicked. Dunno if he’s close enough to do target combo into finish. Will test it out of course.

  • vs Sakura: It felt pretty even to me. Gotta be weary of her cr.hp. Very effective anti-air against high dive kicks. Well spaced cross up dive kicks will probably beat it. She definitely got some damage buffs so she’ll knock Yun out a bit quicker. Her cr.mk got better which is dangerous. Felt like who can get the first knock down was able to come out on top.
