So, I’ve got a problem. I’m trying to learn Yun, and I can’t seem to beat Ryus. It just seems like Ryu has way more range, especially in the air. I’m having trouble beating Ryu with airborne crossups, as his midair heavy kick just seems to hit everything. Shoryukens also mess me up. I’m smart enough to not lunge punch into him when he’s waking up, but I can’t really hit Ryu with anything overhead, especially divekicks. Ryu also does tons of damage with his pokes. Lastly, I can block hadokens with palm thrust, but I don’t really think it’s ideal, considering Ryu can mixup how fast they go. Any suggestions on how to win a Yun vs Ryu fight?
against viper do cr.lk st.mp - st.lp OS on wakeup it kills everything with oni be very patient try to punish all fireballs ON REACTION and try to make sure you are just outside of his step kick range because at that range all of his normals whiff u should try to low foawrd buffer lp.lunge punch at that range so if he throws out a step kick or f.Hp or step kick he gets hit into a meaty mixup
try to sfaely focus his fireballs to get U2 on wakeup if he is SRK mashing just do nothing and punish he will learn. and try to bait hit AA SRK by doing neutral jump lk divekick punish his fireballs with EX shoulder yun has god like air to airs use lk, or hk to stop him in air to air situations
If the Japanese players using U1 includes the top Yun players in Japan like MDR and Daigo, then yeah, I’d like to think that he knows something that we don’t. Even Ryan Hart has converted to using U1 in those match ups.
What you said in the comment previous to this makes no sense, a competent shoto player would NOT throw mid screen fireballs, like I said, with Yun has enough specials and a dive kick that makes sure he can’t get zoned out.
And linking a 1hr long video with a clip of a Guy player mashing ultra who happens to be Japanese? What’s that suppose to prove? If you found a video of a Yun player who knows what he’s doing yet is still getting shut down by a fireball character, then that’ll prove something.
I would love to buy underwear from vending machine.
5-5 for Yun at best from what I can see. His S. HK kills dive kicks. I’d even say this is 6-4 Bison.
honestly when i play any fireball character you have to play patient. if the character has a wake up DP you should be careful on adding pressure. especially when you play online they will mash uppercut period.
Versus fireball characters i personally just jump over the fireball and depending on spacing i use a MK or HK dive kick to get a little more closer. then on reaction i jump over the next fireball following a MK dive kick and it should or be very close hit to the wait or ankles. even if you still can get in by jumping bait the fireball and shoulder and score a knock down. then go into your dive kick pressure.
Ultras really shouldnt matter. if you have a good connection with player you can EX Lunge into U1…but you run into having a risk of input lag and you get hit with a punish.
U1 is just more versatile than U2. That’s why they stick with U1. Waiting for a random fireball can be useless against a good shoto player.
Daigo uses U1 vs. shotos as well as other top Yun players (Kazunoko etc.). End of discussion. I don’t see you winning tournaments PapaRhino so I’d rather go with someone who wins tournaments and knows their character very well and plays to a high level.
Yeah, I go with U1 also. U2 range isn’t that great to be honest and I feel like Yun has plenty of ways to get in and stay in. U1 also has a million applications.
U2 could be good for whiff punish i.e. whiff spd/command grab etc. Other than that i prefer U1.
The only character I’d even think of using U2 on is Sagat.
And maybe like CeramicSugar said but only under the circumstance that they don’t have U2
Just beat Mr. SNK in a FT5 5-4. Honda is a tough ass matchup, his damage nerfs do not matter against Yun, he deals so much damage with just hand combos into s.RH…I’ll see if I can get the videos uploaded and analyze them.
What’s Honda’s answer to neutral jump spam?
s.HP, EX Headbutt, LK and MK Buttslam, Ultra 1, j.LP, off the top of my head, it’s not a good idea.
All of those can beat nj.MK and nj.HP?
If he’s already up when you start the jump or if you connect it on his wakeup?
If he’s already up, all of those, if he’s on the ground still, EX Headbutt, that’s pretty much it if your timing is good.
I mean doing it at midrange.
In that case all of that list. except LK buttslam. You can do a MK or HK divekick to beat the EX Headbutt though if you wait for it.
If you air-to-air Chun Li and do crossup HP shoulder it will beat EX SBK
Let’s talk about T. Hawk. What the hell can you do about condor dives? They beat everything. It’s ridiculous.
