Well, I emailed Iron Galaxy and Dave responded:
“We are pretty much done with our side of things (meaning, work on the patch is complete) and we’re waiting for Capcom to get the patch out the door, so it’s probably unlikely that we’d be able to squeeze that in on this patch.”
Unfortunately it is as expected, though I wonder how much longer until this patch gets launched

Actually, I had the same sorta reaction to SRK. 2007 fun stuff. 2008, the legend of Blackuma and this Roshihikari guy. 2009 and beyond, like around the time SF4 was going to get Yun. Yoshi Ono outright lied by saying a Genei Jin super will not be in SF4, due to concerns about Juri’s stupid combo bacteria eye or something and people seeing the countdown “Timer” in screenshots. I typo’ed this as “Genie Jin” in the Gameversus livestream. A fun KO Elena showcase one that day.
The host of the stream still responded in English. “There is announcement news?!”
All I could do was parrot Yoshinori Ono, twitter without the direct link, in all this, grapevine news you never hear yourself and might get force fed through all the stream/Eventhubs/SRK front page/stream false chat/forums everywhere people being excited about it. Now the worst part. I did not understand what I read on SRK somewhere about this very same thing.

I had no idea what “Gay Asians” meant. What the hell move is that in Street Fighter?! Something like that might make you stay away from the community, unless you’re all a bunch of radio station listeners to the “gay and asian radio station techno music” I guess is somewhere else I heard something like that. And what a bunch of whiny losers who don’t like being stuck in a combo, but can’t just go play Yun themselves, too much pride not to pick OP characters, in the name of BALANCE fair play and such.
Later figuring out this crazy person seems to have been hopefully just joking, trolling, & also hearing things nobody hears in the game. SF3:3s Yun activating SA3 “Genei Jin” = to him and nobody else really, “Gay Asians!”

So we can agree that 3soe is basically not tournament viable unless yun is banned right? Because this gives him an even more unfair advantage.
No console yun player in America is good enough to make it a difference.

I imagine most small pockets of dedicated 3s players in the US have access to at least one cps3 setup. And if not, it’s relatively easy and affordable to make one now.
It would be cool for 3s players to do what the ST players do and insist on playing cps3 and offer to bring a supergun setup if needed. If we all do that, the deficiencies of OE won’t matter.
Which leaves online as the only casualty, which I think is not a big deal.
The differences between cps2 and cps3 are what makes owning 3rd Strike difficult.
Price and availability, battery, and the fact cps2 already comes in a box help portability. I always feel like I’m holding a fragile glass trophy when I touch cps3, I wouldn’t even want to bring it outside lol.
Also, most of the current players learned how to play from console or ggpo. To them it doesn’t matter. Well not enough to warrant spending 400 on a board and whatever it costs for a cab.
I think you’re a rare breed that decided to take a leap of faith in us old assholes opinion that cps3 is really different.
Once you get your cabs up and running and get used to playing with the characters up in your face (you’re in the game) and the correct feeling of a proper stick that doesn’t fuckin move in your lap, youll also realize that playing on a supergun is also inferior.

yeah I’m pretty excited for that. cab comes in tomorrow! I’ll find out soon enough. everything you mentioned and also button listening will all be an improvement I think. like no matter how hard you try to tune it out, side by side supergun play, you’re gonna hear the other dude’s buttons and I’d rather not deal with that. it changes the ground game a bit when you can hear buttons IMO.
it’s a bummer that more people can’t easily play on CPS3. once you’ve experienced that you don’t really wanna go back to console or online if you have the choice.
I told my wife I wanted to get a CPS3 and a cab for it and she said, “You already have like six ways to play 3S… why do you need a dedicated device that only plays 3S?” I said, “It doesn’t ONLY play 3S! It plays some other games, too!”
I’m not getting a CPS3 setup any time soon.

If I ever get married, I’m making sure she doesn’t know the word dedicated.
The problem is three things: I don’t have the space for it because we need our own place again; I can easily spend the money for it, but I need to get a new car first; and I’m the only person within an hour’s drive that wants to play 3S. I just like to tell my wife what I want to buy so she can make me be responsible. I won’t do it on my own unless I have to.
I was considering adding 3S OE to our weekly tournaments in Detroit, something to fill the time slot from 7pm to 9pm since most of the AE and Marval folk do’t show till 9pm.

the nearest one to me had it’s battery die a long time ago and the owner doesn’t want a new one. i wish capcom re-released a new less stupidly over-the-top security system for cps3 that didn’t come with a suicide battery (really capcom? wasn’t the arcade business slowing down big time in 1996-97? why would you do that to arcade owners?).
