If Konami takes control, i hope they get rid of the secret rare crap
if konami takes control, tourney scene is screwed. konami generally runs very few official tournaments. when konami took control of the op in europe, this was the case. im hoping for the best no matter the outcome of the lawsuit, however. i don’t wanna see the scene die out.
Since Heraklinos got cheaper for getting printed as a promo, Gladiator Beast Sounds Really Fun.
Also, Synchro monsters are getting their boost with Gorz coming to the TCG scene.
almost any deck can benefit from gorz though. i wonder what kind of cash he’ll go for…
Six ($6) Dollars. ^^
Haven’t seen prices this cheap since the original series.
Especially after DaD and CCV (DaD’s price is halved, CCV is around $350,prolly).
overall, i wouldnt say prices are that cheap. PSZ is like 80 and its a must-have in so many decks. its considered the money card of yugioh right now.
A Very Sweet Card Indeed.
But Ygo Tcg is always expensive :X
I still want a Stratos,though. xP
Yeah, I’m bumping this thread.
I’ve always had a secret interest in YGO, although never had the opportunity to play. However, I’ve recently obtained some decks, and have found out there is a league location nearby, so I may give it a shot.
So…how’s the 09 DS game? Worth picking up?
Why would you bump this? -_-
I played competitively up until about a year ago, but still keep up with the metagame. It’s a disaster atm, full of ridiculous OTKs.
Cat X-Saber, right?
If anyone is planning to Gen Con Indy from Chicago, let me know. I’ll be hopefully volunteering for Konami.
The game has been a disaster since Last Feb. I’m surprised there’s a thread on SRK about the game.
Decks that are too broken to logically play anything else:
Dark Armed Return
Gladiator Beasts w/ Gyzarus
Dark Armed Teleport
Lightsworn
Synchro Cat
Dead since 2009.
Beatable.
Dead since newest banlist.
Never caught on in America for some reason.
I’ll give you this, but everyone’s sure that Rescue Cat will either be limited or banned in next list since the advent of X-Sabers in the TCG.
The real problem are Blackwings, and I don’t have an answer for that.
I figured with the decks being posted in chronological order, people could infer that they were THE broken deck in their time period, but I guess I overestimated the intelligence of some. Let me try again:
Dark Armed Return
So powerful when it came out that it required an emergency ban.
[BGladiator Beasts w/ Gyzarus**
In the summer of '08, this deck won EVERY Major North American tournament.
Dark Armed Teleport
Dominated the winter SJC season until restrictions in Feb. knocked it down.
Lightsworn
Before Saber was released, this deck had a tight grip on the metagame.
Synchro Cat
Everyone’s always been sure insert broken cards here was going to be banned/restricted. Money > Balanced metagame. If Konami feels they will make less money if they shut down a deck, they won’t shut it down. I feel it’s too dependent on what the next set brings.
Blackwings
What makes you think these are a problem? Lightsworn and Synchro Cat routinely beat it down.
I was told Lightsworns actually didn’t show up in the finals of any of the majors and ultimately, American players were too worried about decking out for this to catch on.
Guess we’ll see on this one.
I guess you haven’t seen any good BF deck builds, then. They swarm in seconds and have their own Honest. They really are a problem.
Just as an example, Lightsworn took all but 2 of the top 16 slots of the first SJC after the February ban list was put into effect.
Blackwings get smaller numbers than Lightsworn and Synchro Cat in the top 8s SJCs and Nationals. You could argue that they’re the 3rd best deck, and I’d agree; however, I find no real problem with them to the point that there needs to be some sort of ban or limit on any of their cards.
You’ll have to forgive me because I’m not actually familiar with the tournament scene and go by second hand information. From what I’m told, Lightsworns are part of the metagame in Japan, but not so much in America.
lightsworn is bigger in america than in japan. japan doesn’t have charge of the light brigade yet, and that’s huge.
japan runs better stun decks, simply because they have easy access to doomcaliber knight. last I checked, japan is huge on blackwings due to vayu the big flag abuse.
top 4 in last week’s US nationals were
- synchro cat
- gladiator beasts
- lightsworn
- blackwing
I expect dark strike fighter to get limited to one, if not outright banned after taking nationals. rescue cat and summoner monk will likely get limited as well. a OTK dragon deck abusing red eyes darkness metal dragon won canadian nationals a couple weeks back - so at least we’re getting some variety in OTKs.
^Lol. And I haven’t played since about 2 sets after Chaos Emperor Dragon dropped, hahaha. If these decks are as bad as THAT beast was then seriously lol @ Konami.
nah, nothing has been as bad since they split the game into two formats. before the last banlist 4/5 duelists were running a variant of teleDAD (the fifth was probably lightsworn). I’m glad there’s more variety to the game now.
Lightsworn and CatSynchro are THE best decks at the moment.
But more importantly, something needs to be done to Mind Control, Dark Strike Fighter, and Rescue Cat.
