You've Been Naughty: Official UMvC3 Morrigan Combo Thread

So I was messing around with some more optimal Morrigan XF combos, some thing I don’t normally do, and I noticed that you can do Shadowblade M xx Fly Soul Drain unfly etc. in all levels of XF. It hurts my thumb due to the way I smack the S button on my stick to repeatedly do these combos since you have to cancel the Shadowblade M after the last hit of it really fast, and I suck at optimizing combos, so if any of you other cool cats wanna optimize these for me mess around with it/already have combos down that’d be cool:)

corner xf combo i just start with M shadowblade fly soul drain unfly land, then go into jMMH soul fist fly ADD soul fist unfly and other things.

morrigan xf combos are one of the only things i work on nowadays. i just like the momentum i get esp since i put her second and i’ll have xf2.

Can anyone who knows a guy who knows a guy who can do the soul drain infinite post notation? I can’t tell exactly whats going on before/after some of the fly cancels.

Spent around an hour and a half trying to find Morrigan raw tag combos. All I managed to come up with is:

with DT Vergil (T_T)
ADDF j.H land s.LM c.HS j.H Soul Fist H fly xx ADDF (cross up the opponent) j.H Soul Fist M unfly (hold A1 or A2 w/e Vergil is on) s.MHSH Judgement Cut L s.HS j.H Helm Breaker Teleport M High Time Dimension Slash

Only gets around 680-690K damage…And all I got this combo to work with is DT Vergil:( I tried Zero, but all I could connect was a s.L and then they popped out. Magneto and Doom couldn’t do anything. I’ve gotten the consistency down pretty well, so I could justify it as a combo to use if you’re showing off lol. Hopefully you guys (if you choose to mess around with this) can find better, more practical raw tag combos:)

I could never even figure out how a raw tag combo with her. Now you gave me some stuff to try out…

i actually have looked into it but i had the same problem with zero only getting sL.

my setup was sLMH fH jLMMH Hsoulfist fly add (crossunder) jH xx soul fist (different ones give different heights/distances) to raw tag.

zero sL is 5f, launch is like 7f or something. his raw tag is notoriously good for comboing off of but not at this HSD unfortunately.

doom has a 4f sL but his raw tag doesn’t set up the juggle height well.

Question, is it always safe to end your combo in shadow blade and fall slowly to the ground unable to block? Seems like some characters would be able to punish you for it.

I’m just starting to learning her, so any input would be nice.

@Phantasy Pretty sure Doom’s st.L is 5 frames.

I’m assuming you’re referring to air combos that involve shadow blade, fly, shadow blade or shadow blade, super, shadow blade. You’re right that it is risky. You shouldn’t end a combo in shadow blade when your flight is already used up unless it will kill. Even if it goes unpunished, it leaves you in a bad position, where you typically could have gone for a TAC or used a j.S instead to get a knockdown to allow you to setup.

Basically everything Pat said. I can’t remember the last time I intentionally ended a combo with Shadowblade without knowing the combo would kill. Otherwise, go ahead and use Shadowblade whenever lol. Love that move so much.

Anyone know a good TAC combo with Morrigan other than her wack-ass infinite? I play her behind Mags and I never really know what to do off a TAC.

As everyone said, it’s just something people like to throw onto combos to show higher damage in videos. Most places you can do that you can also land a j.S for the hard knock down though.

does ~650-700k seemingly depending on starter, ending with k.H>j.623M>finishing shower is possible.
drains about 1.5 meter? if they start out with 2 meter they end with 1, so possibly more than that(given that they’re gaining meter while being hit). you end with about 2.5 bars, starting with 1. rough estimates from memory.

notes:
how high you hit the opponent after the first assist should determine the timing of the rest of the combo. this cannot be random and it should be possible to get consistent, but it seems hard unless someone can record a video to show exactly where successful spacing is.
if you call hoodlum early maybe you can make a TAC combo while still getting 2 drains? if you x-factor after AV i think more soul drain is possible.
it seems like it may be a little hard to adjust for corner distance, but i haven’t tried.
even if you drop this combo you should be in an advantageous, safe situation.
as a rule, fire just before second hit
when you 214s be careful where you’re holding

Does Morrigan have anything with Ghost Rider? She could get some Soul Drain loops off of the chain assist, I imagine.

with every wallbounce and groundbounce you should get at least 1 souldrain from it

Okay, I’ve been playing around with DHCs from Ghost Rider and found that I can set up an Astral Soul Fist H when they are dragged to the corner by the bike super. What can Morrigan get after that?

Does Morrgian have any solo combos that can do at least 600K before super?

XF factor ones lol

She does but corner only and tight timing and its just about 600k

Yeah I saw a video with some stuff showing her doing 700+ but that was after super

What are some fireball spam patterns to practice and use for certain situations?

Like you think or know the opponent is about to jump, they are already in the air, they are about to land, they are rushing in, you want to rush in etc
