It should be no shock that the Bleach DS games are great. This is the same game developer that made the fabled Yu Yu Hakusho 4 player game for the megadrive.
Also Ichigo was retarded. Really only second to Aizen in the first game.
Okay, well the Budokai games replaced high/low with attack/unblockable/throw and the games were based more about frame traps with the bulk of the game revolving around unblockable charge feints which you had to know how to deal with by either dodging the chains you could sidestep or jabbing out of the slow ones or if they were going for the unblockable do an unblockable of your own to clash, etc., etc. In short, you’re wrong. They were more simple games than SF/KoF/VF/whatever, but simple does not mean can’t be played competitively. Look at Smash, there’s no high/low in that game either but it has one of the biggest tournament scenes.
Well Smash is some completely different from budokai. All the normals were stubby with weird hitboxes.
I guess there is a low level of strategy, but not to the caliber that I would refer to it as a fighting game. The budokai games were more like party mashers.
Is Naruto played competitively? Whats the strategy behind it?
As it pertains to Naruto fighters, I’ve only ever played Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 on PC and I hated it. I came in expecting that it would be at least mildly balanced like Dragonball Raging Blast 2 and I was horribly disappointed.
I’ve never seen any true competitions for Naruto, or for any anime fighter, to be honest, due to the specific fact that they’re not made to be balanced or strategic. Sure, one could argue (like a buddy of mine did when I told him that UNS3 was utter shit) that there is a strategy to the game, like conserving your substitutions or “juggling,” but with my knowledge of fighting games, I just dismissed those claims.
You could say that. You can make anything competitive. Are all games made to be competitive? No.
There’s another episode down. I’m gonna look this Yu Yu Hakusho game up.
Dragoon might (one of konami’s few ventures into the fg genre) i probably got the name wrong
Tobal 2
Advanced v.g 2
Sonic council
Fighters history (snes version) mizoguchi something blah blah
Goiken muyo 2 (this one is a must, made by a few vf legends like bunbunmaru and a couple of others, a really fun game)
Ninja masters
Brief karate foolish
Golden axe the duel
What’s that data east one again? outlaws of lost dynasty??? came out 1995 or some shit
plenty of decent games out there without having to resort to anime shit,i’d use those as a last resort
But then again that’s just my preference, this is your baby.
Just thought i’d list some to wet your whistle, just not the usual shit that people spout when you mention underrated or under played fighters, garou, rival schools, insert anime fighter here.
Aizen is freaking crazy in that game…I loved Yu Yu hakusho Sunset fighters… That game is pretty crazy fun… I really wish dark tournament didnt come out over here and fuck everything up the way it did…We could have got some other pretty fun yu yu hakusho games
Naruto is actually played competitively in small circles. There’s a group in Vegas that plays it competitively. Naruto Storm games are basically baby Marvel, pressuring with assists to cover your ass, setting up throws (which are invincible), and baiting substitutions. There’s a good handful of assists that help offensively or defensively that are really nasty.
How about Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire? Try Amusement Tower had a tournament for that as part of their Ura Tougeki/Super Tower Opera, and it seemed pretty interesting.
A-Cho had Jackie Chan as part of their Ranking battles for a few times.
I’m probably one of the few people that say the arcade version is the best version of Street Fighter the movie. My reason it isn’t some piece of shit hacked up version of ST. And the arcade version of Street Fighter the Movie was in the A-cho ranking battles a couple of times as well.
Yo You said something real interesting right there. I used to play that game all the time. Shadow was pretty fun in this game! I dont remember too much about it…A break down of that game would be interesting!
