Of course they’re all very good players but i feel like adeel and shin are above the others…just my 2 cents.
Oh and btw i’m not saying (and never said) that JR is a scrub or anything…he’s been playing SF for years, he sure does know how to play the game and probably has more tournament experience than anyone in this forum. I only said that his playstyle shouldn’t be taken as an example for someone who’s learning Akuma. That seemingly “mindless” rushdown doesn’t always work against people who know how to move in this game so someone starting with Akuma should also learn to play some good footsies and zoning for the situations where resets and giggles don’t work.
Sorry, didn’t mean to turn this into a “who’s the best” discussion. Just wanted some info for my own personal use, I tend to learn characters by copying other players.
Haha I am not the best by any stretch of the imagination. West still has a winning record against me and last time I played Wude he came out 9-5. I still make too many mistakes. My offense can be air tight when all is going my way, but when I start taking water I start making stupid errors. I still have to play Shin to see how I stack against him, but I know he is better than I am.
To the eye JR plays a very reckless style, but the thing is he has the speed to keep up with his opponent. Not many players can do that. When I have played him that was something I noticed is his reaction speed is crazy fast. So he gets away with a lot of things that other players would get destroyed for.
And that’s exactly why he shouldn’t be taken as an example (as i was saying in my first reply)…not everyone has been playing this game for 5+ years (especially most of those asking questions on this forum) and as such not everyone has crazy reflexes like him…that’s the one thing I always notice the most when playing against old school players…
When playing unexperienced people he can get away with that crazy rushdown because the ones he’s playing against simply can’t keep up with him, but when he’s playing against people with the same good reflexes and experience as him his whole gameplan tends to fail more often than not.
I hear you on the reflexes / speed. Other than the fact that Im still learning to be better at this game, the second someone better runs the pace of the match, Im boned. Happens everytime I play West. As soon as he gets momentum I lose
I completely agree with you, it happens especially when i play West and JR, when i’m controlling the pace, being the aggressor, i do pretty good, until they get the momentum and then it’s pretty much over at that point because i can’t keep up.
You know I actually thought the same thing as Superpollo before I played JR. I played JR a little while back as Sagat and broke even with him 3 to 3 and really the only thing I did was wait for him to do something dumb like mash out a DP and punish with Sagats LOL combo. I thought poorly of his play style and then got a chance to first to 10 him in a mirror match. I knew his tricks before I played him, for example I shut down his demon flip spam, but to my surprise he actually adapted to my play style very quickly and ended up beating me convincingly. He gets his damage however he can and if you’re a horrible scrub who is free to DF spam he’s going to take advantage of that. If you’re not he’ll find another way to get damage. And no, I’m not nut hugging, just saying what I think.
I’ve ran into you a couple times and you need to chill when you play. You seem to panic and do stuff that eats your life bar up in the end.
Yea, I do tons of unsafe stuff, and with Akuma’s low health, thats a no no. I cant seem to change between rush down and play it safe with Akuma. Even with a substantial health lead I’ll put myself in compromising positions when I should be sitting back and zoning. I’ll get better eventually lol. On top of that, if Im trying to get away from pressure I tend to get predictable with teleports and that’s also asking for a lot of trouble. Idk, sometimes I’ll be playing and everything I do is spot on and the very next match I do everything wrong lol.
If you remember anything in particular that I did that was notably stupid, lemme know so I can avoid it in the future
I can relate to that, only for me, it seems to go in “days”: some days I’ll do everything right (or almost) and my gameplay will be decent. Other days, it seems I can’t even beat a n00b doing j.HK, c.HK combos on me (like last night)…
It will also depend on what kind of comp I can find online. If I get scrubs at first, then my play is also scrubby. But if I can get some good fights with someone really good (IE, someone who knows who to footsie, zone, bait and punish, etc), then my play seems to elevate a bit afterwards.
Hopefully with my new internet connection I can stop just playing anyone I can get a decent connection with and only play people at my skill level and above
