Haha how much differently does akuma play ¬_¬ beg pardon?
Sadly this tactic cannot be applied to akuma , I’ve ted it. Ryu and Sagat has faster DPs and its range are better too regardless of whatever frame data says otherwise. I can spam DPs for Ryu and Sagat all day fullscreen, not so with akuma doing exact stick to button moves etc.
If anyone was curious after reading this post, none of this is correct.
For Ryu I can do crlp crlp crmp hp.dp xx fadc ultra1 but akuma will whiff that DP.
For anti airs though, akuma’s hp.dp seems to be the strongest of the trio with ken and ryu’s having just a little more range in the x-axis.
I hate to agree with you but you are right when it comes to JR…I played him the first week SSFIV 2 times in rank…the first time he beat me but was a close match he use the DF into super like he always do but on the second match I beat him cause I took his DF away from him by either c.HP or teleporting away. Not saying he isn’t a good player but like Superlollo said he plays Akuma like if it was 3s and in this game you can’t play Akuma like that plus JR isn’t good when it comes to defense sure he gots a nasty offensive ways but in the defense department he’s not good.
Heh I have gotten a lot of comments that I play like JR even though I don’t intentionally try to play like him.
The thing with flip pressure is it is hard to beat simply on reaction, but on anticipation it usually loses. Depending on who you face there are some tricks you can use to mix things up, but ultimately you do need to throw some other things besides flips so that the other player is not expecting it when you do use it.
Flip pressure is a lot more abusable against characters with bad anti-air. Though like any other move, if it isn’t working you need to change your game plan. The Flip provides quick offense, but if the quick offense isn’t getting you anywhere then you need to buckle down and play some good solid play.
Throw fireballs, dragon punch jump ins, basic shoto play, I don’t understand why all Akuma players think they can just DF all willy nilly. It may be bullshit fighter 4, where fireballs are mediocre and fierce dragon punches trade with jump ins, but still, learn your fundamentals folks.
Zone with fireballs and cr.mk (and other normals), DP jump ins (or cr.hp depending on the situation), neutral jump air fb to apply pressure and move forward, try to get a knockdown, AND THEN you can go nuts. You don’t always have to Demon Flip on wake up, crossups (including tatsu), safe jumps, meaty attacks, EX air fb, etc. are all viable options.
This is basic shit folks.

I actually just finished watching a J.R. match, very good offensive tactics and was fun to watch. I’d also like to say that reading that caps lock post was brutal :lol: Peace folks!
You’ll have a very rude awakening at EVO this year…last year the game was still young and most people couldn’t deal with that df bullshit…but seriously, all it takes is a c.hp to stuff it every time…you basically got ZERO footsies and always use teleport on wakeup like there is no other option lol…sure it’s great against people who don’t have a clue on how to option select a tatsu or some equivalent move.
I regularly play Italy’s (well, probably even Europe’s now that v-ryu switched to makoto) best Akuma and seriously, you’re just making me laugh with your caps lock nerd rage. Wonder why in your youtube videos you always beat “no-namers” but almost always get bodied by anyone who has a clue on how to deal with akuma in this game…resets can only take you so far

Just out of curiousity - superlollo, how good is your Akuma? Is LoyalSol the best Akuma here, or is it JR or Shin?
I feel like Four Wude is the best Akuma in this forum…followed by Shin Akuma (the one with the RE avatar). I won’t comment on my personal level (you guys will), i saved quite a few replays, and as soon as i get a new mobile phone (with a decent camera) i’m gonna post some here…probably in a month or so.
