yo electric chill dawg, to be fair that blanka ball punish with dash f.mk’s timing is pretty strict and you have to be blocking standing for it to work iirc
as for chibit89 - if its hard to believe, at least try it first in training mode

hah, everyone getting serious up in here. I wasn’t doubting you, Eletric, I meant it like when girls say, “shut up!”… except less gay.
yeah, i’ll try it out tonight. thanks for the heads up.
Blah - just me having a shitty day… don’t take it personally
Also, personally I find it easier to punish blocked Blanka Ball with fp CoD, but it’s not quite as easy as mashing it out as soon as you block…
When you block a Blanka Ball, input the motion for CoD, and hold the forward direction for a little longer, THEN press FP. This should make you walk forward a little bit after exiting block stun, and then do a CoD. This gives you a little extra range on the CoD that you need.
Ha - my post above sounds fucking stupid reading it back. My bad.
I got pretty much peed on for most of last night. I’m getting so brutalized by throws it’s painful. People just jab into throw on me and I feel almost helpless to stop it at times and feel like a complete scrub. Definitely shotos do it to me the worst.
Ryu players do neutral jump MK (I think) and land and throw and seem to eat way too often or Ken LP LP kara throw or EX tatsu and throw or srk. So I just said to myself duck this every time or face the guessing game or with the jump throw I was like fuck it, I’m at least gonna try to anti air everything and not make it as easy for them to put me into block stun and abuse it. I got SOME mileage out of those realizations but not as much as I would have liked.
Advice on avoiding throw mix ups would be much appreciated. Maybe my Brontosaurus-like reaction is the real problem? At this point I think it’s a possibility and something I’m going to have to work really hard to change… oh well.
Ok so there’s another way to punish Blanka Balls/Cannon spikes. Nice to know. I gotta try if i can constantly do it in a game, I doubt it since I often focus too much on avoiding to get hit and i forget thinking about the right punish at the right time.
And Ken’s pokes which someone mentioned are also really freaking annoying. But I don’t really hate the matchup, though it like Abel vs Ryu (or any other shoto) much more.
@ Gernburgs: I often fall for the same cheesy throw setups over and over again as well. Sometimes you can just mash the throw tech if you know he’s goin for a tick throw, but sometimes you gotta wait if he takes some steps forward and throws you then. If that’s the case I try to remember which setups the opponent often uses and then i go for the command throw. But if they do tick throws all the time i think you should just mash throw tech, which i often forget/mess up somehow^^. And maybe, if he starts doin other crap like srk if you get used to the techs, you can try to use the downback+throw option select all the time.
Electric,
Also, i see why you prefer COD, dash -> f.mk is pretty strict for me b/c getting the f.mk to come out is a bit tricky.
You should be able to punish all versions of Blanka Ball with FP CoD… also it’s easier to do it if you block the ball standing, because your hitbox is skinnier than if you were crouching, meaning they don’t bounce back quite as far. It should also work from anywhere on the screen. I’ll try record something tonight to illustrate how far you need to walk forward etc.
Also with the dash -> f+mk… yeah, it’s pretty tough… You have exactly 1 frame of leeway… If you can nail the dash -> f+mk punish, it’s worth it for the extra free damage
BB is -15 on HIT.
-24 on block.
gahhhh fuck the way eventhubs switch up the frame data charts, post irrelevant.
Honda’s have been giving me a lot of trouble lately
chun li and blanka. i have no clue how to punish anything or bait out anything in that match. so whenever i get a knock down i just dont know what to do. on that note anyone know any scrubby chun’s or blankas i can play? im pretty crap so i would like to find ppl who play characters that im bad against but are close to my level
Ibuki
Rufus
Good Chuns
Cammy is my arch-nemesis.
Felt like I’d inform you that Abel’s OS tech is bad/uselses (unless like vs Goukens backthrow, only). If you knew his frame data you’d understand why.
Bison, He can keep you out with just standing roundhouse D:
as of now, I really need to learn how to play against Rufus and Balrog. I have the most trouble because of Rufus dive kick pressure and also Balrogs light punch spams. It just gets hard under all the pressure on wake up. Cuz from what i know. Abel doesnt have too many wake up options.
gief and thawk… its like they got an advantage every time i get close. i try to distance myself with the wheel kick but thats all i got for them… need help…
Just your your regular TT because it has grab immune.
For Zangief when you do close footsies and he likes to lariot. when u feel you dropped the combo just do neutral jump light punch because it stops it. try it out
