as you would pressure any dp character. Every poison player mashes the hell out of cr.lp and her hitbox makes 3 lights whiff.
-
you punish his far normals on block, corner him and os his wakeup forever and ever
Tips on fighting Seth? I have trouble dealing with his backdash / teleport on wakeup, and anti airing him is difficult considering the different options he has to jump in. It’s hard to lock him down in a corner and keep the pressure up on him, and with so many wake up options I feel like I’m playing more of a guessing game than he is when I try go for a setup of forward throw.
What os should I use against him?
Does poison go even with yang?
cr.lp, s.lk os cl.mk
I’m not confortable enough vs poison to rate the matchup, but in my scrubby opinion it should be slightly in yang’s favor (but I’m free to all the new characters). He has a lot of ways to blow up her cancels since they’re not true blockstrings and if they don’t cancel you (theoretically) can punish cr.mk on block.*
Her antiair is not good either as long as you’re not being stupid and jumping over lp fireballs. She has a lot of trouble antiairing divekicks consistently so if you mixup empty jumps with divekicks and normal jumps it should be a pain for poison.
It’s extremely annoying to pressure her though because she has a weird hitbox (3rd light usually whiffs, crossup is really dificcult) and has a godlike jab that every poison mashes.
- Reversal ex rekka after blocked cr.mk punishes it if no cancel, makes her jump thing whiff (and you can punish), counter hits the harder fireballs. LK teleport also lets you punis her spin kick. U2 and EX roll also punish everything depending on distance/hitbox. Immediate jump forward lk divekick punishes all fireballs and sometimes you tag her out of spin kick, etc.
Can anyone give me a quick summary of what MUs are good and bad?
IIRC, most grapplers give Yang trouble at least
Blanka shouldn’t be using cr.hp vs. characters who can punish it. Far MP is way better vs. Yang as it recovers quickly which allows you to not get jumped on as a Blanka, and it’s also +1 on block.
Doing things that get punished by rollkick/U2 are no go.
Otori, what is this option select good against? I did some testing and I didn’t find anything though I nay have tested against ex moves but I can’t remember
yeah I wasnt using it in the corner. I guess this cant be used midscreen at all?
You can’t cover everything midscreen. You have to do cr.lp, os rekka, s.lp to catch his backdash.
Cornering blanka and keeping him there in general is pretty important imo
You can do this one midscreen (end of video)
How do I pressure viper on wakeup and in the neutral game was is the best option?
Any option selects I should know?
Which ultra?
Viper is honestly a pain to deal with on wakeup imo, cr.mk will actually avoid or hit her hp.thunder knuckle on wakeup and recover in time to block anything else she does but the problem is if she does anything other than hp.tk she gets out for free…
Most of the option selects you can do on her will lose to some of her options and beat others, like cr.lp, OS st.hp beats backdash and ex.seismo but loses to hp.tk and gets air resets on burnkicks, cl.mk raw is ok if you time it right on her wakeup it beats burnkick and ex.seismo clean for big damage, you can also cr.lp OS U1 to catch backdashes and ex.seismo (bear in mind she can cancel ex.seismo to bait OSs) but again this loses to other options.
There are some other fancy OSs that i’m not confident enough in my own execution to attempt like cr.mk xx lp.rekka OS ultra 1 (cr.mk xx qcf p, qcf ppp) which is supposed to beat burnkick, ex.seismo and hp.tk but I never really got it to work. But yeah it’s pretty risky to OS her unless you got reads on their habits and keep in mind she can ex.seismo/hp.tk cancel to bait unsafe OSs.
From a safe jump in the corner you can do OS lk.dp which beats everything she does except ex.burnkick which will whiff and get her out the corner.
As for which Ultra I would probably go U1 for the damage and OS capabilities and U2 doesn’t see any character specific punishes in this matchup as far as I know.
Oh yeah another OS you can do is cr.lk OS st.mp, this is kinda hard as you have to use the block/hitstun of the cr.lk to hide the st.mp unlike normal OS where you chain, but it beats burnkick, backdash and ex.seismo…I could probably find like 5 OSs for every reversal but she has so many there isn’t one OS that beats everything lol.
What happened to all that old tech that pretty much shut down Viper’s wakeup entirely?
How about Akuma?
Seems like yang should be able to option select the hell out of him if he teleports but both his ultra and his ex roll kick majorly whiff and don’t chase him down.
Is there a trick to this or can we not option select him at all?
Interesting… When I play vs Akuma’s I can usually react to teleports with u2 (which should be slower than OSing) and catch his teleport. All depends how the Akuma teleports, OS jump forward or backwards (from fwd throws) can work.
Most Akumas I play generally use u2 anyway so using Yang u2 as a teleport punish is just something that rarely happens.
Due to the low profile on yang’s u2, I have hit akuma out of his ultra many times. Maybe if they time it correctly it can beat u2 chase?
What happens for me is I’ll jump in OS his teleport on wakeup with u2 and he will teleport and my ultra will not chase him down at all. Is it purely a reaction?
Os dash seems good
What is the game plan for Rufus? Anything specific I should know?
I am really struggling against rolento.
His anti airs are really good, his rush down is so gimmicky that you basically can’t predict anything, the only good wakeup pressure I can think of is os ex roll but I don’t always have meter.
There’s just so much wrong with this matchup that I don’t know what to do
