i need any and all tips on the honda matchup i can get, please
i need to beat this dude in a grand finals of a friendly tournament because he and i always end up in GF and i’m character locked to yang and his honda stomps my yang nearly every time

If you get a knockdown you should be able to OS with j.MK pretty easily to counter all his reversals. But you know, playing people is more than just a character match-up. You have to be ready for what HIS Honda is like and counter appropriately. If his hands pressure is strong, throw in more neutral jump dive kicks and the like so you can be the main instigator in the match up.
Wait, what? I need you to explain this OS. What does it even beat? Also why are you character locked to Yang in a tournament? I never go Yang against Honda/T Hawk/Zangief (except against Snake Eyes)
Because it was set up as a single elim character lock tournament and I picked yang

Yang actually has a very short window(assuming 1-2 frames based on difficulty) where he can get a walk forward Cr. MK xx Slashes to punish EX QBomb.
Edit: Easier with St. MP as you can tag the tip of Fuerte’s fingers or something.

how does yang beat akuma what is the matchup like…
i do air he anti airs, he jumps at me how do i beat him…what do i stop his teleport with…how do i answer air fireballs? sweep? ex rolldp?

don’t know that much on the Matchup but what i do know is this
Stop jumping where he can AA then I guess? Air fireballs can be beaten with roll kicks , sweep punished by ex rekkas. If he jumps use LK roll kick when he’s deeper in preferably. Idk how to stop teleport Gameplan is put akuma in the corner I think, he has low health and low stun so your combos do some good damage on him.
I’m a scrub still so I might be wrong about this tho
Edit: So for Honda what do you guys do? Got bodied by a friend of mine and he kept doing headbutts and body slams on me. I know I can do FA on body slams but sometimes he crosses up when I didn’t notice so I get punished.
Also, did my execution just become terrible or can I not do two cl.mk on Honda?
You can get one HP rekka on Honda as a free punish to headbutts. But yeah, it sucks.
Sweep is punishable by ex rekka on block.
If you stand block headbutt you can punish with full rekka chain. crouch block you only get first hit
Went to my first tournament in a long time, lost to an E. Ryu player and a Cody player. Any tips in this matchup? I think I could have gotten closer in the E. Ryu match if I was catching his cr.mk which he kept throwing out. Cody though I have no clue how to fight
You can easily push cody in the corner, mix empty vertical jump / divekick, advances step by step, zone with cr.mk and whiff punich his slide and his 3hk with cr.mk or cr.lk
Cant Cody punish with his kicks or rocks if I do vertical jumps though? His slide kept causing me troubles so I’ll attempt whiff punishing more which I need to add to my game more anyways.
Kicks yes, rocks no…dont neutral jump from bad distances and you wont have to worry about either

also, what specifically do you guys do to blanka that makes the match in his favor?
