Ok I was watching Uryo’s stream and he played a few games with Yang vs some E.Ryu player, anyway he was focusing to bait cr.mk xx fireball, which is usually a true blockstring but he backdashed when he saw the cr.mk hit his focus and then punished the fireball with U2, looked pretty sick and I guess it’s decent tech vs E.Ryu since they would never really expect someone to punish their cr.mk xx fireball strings.
nope no vids. just have to wait and see if somebody snipes one of my replays. match is probably even. im just way comfortable with it since one of my training partners is a bison main
to me, i think the key to the match is understanding you can turtle harder than bison can. for every devils reverse he does, you can whiff 2 slashes and move him towards the corner. plus it matches his meter build. if he corners himself, he’s going to have to break charge. sweep goes under round house. if you get him to start thinking about that and start hitting far mk instead, then you can start dive kicking
the next thing is not always finishing strings with slashes because his response buttons and reversal lk scissor compete better than most. do more overheads or command grabs or re pressure dive kicks or dash back in etc
also i pretty much abandon cl.mk resets against bison since you have to completely give up all pressure to bait his escapes
besides all of that, xbox live bisons will usually hang themselves by whiffing a slide or scissor, or doing one of the unsafe mk or hk scissors. just be more patient against him. its not that bad of a match
Aah…I see. You have a Bison friend…that makes sense. The MK reset…yeah…I guess it would be pointless since he can get away. I’ll concentrate more on safe jumps and getting him to the corner with combos.
Didn’t know sweep could go under his godlike standing HK. I assumed it would get beat. Plus it’s a little slow. I’ll have to implement that more in my game.
I play on PC.
Bison, Blanka, Seth, Ibuki, Dhalsim, and Yun destroy all my characters(Gen, Deejay, Yang). This is what happens when I fight them personally, it has nothing to do with actual tiers or matchups.
Good or bad I feel like I’m losing to the character more than the player.
Funny thing is…is that this very thing is something I was personally trying to test last month…trying to do it consistently.
Don’t know if have seen any hi-level Yangs use this tech in vids that are out there, since most seem to prefer Ultra1.
I cannot beat him on the ground, it’s impossible. I cannot divekick his limbs since for whatever reason he is able to short me before I finish landing on them and press anything. Stand strong is meh and does shit for damage when trying to beat his scissors/standing pokes. Even the target combo doesn’t do good damage, and if you are wrong on it, you get punished.
Gief and Hawk are just difficult. So much to the point where I just play Ryu/Akuma. For every 3 times I’m right in that fight and get a good jump in/low forward one SPD makes it even and he’s at an advantageous spot.
I played CJ Truth last night in a Microsoft tourney. He put me in losers and then I fought back to GF. He started with E Ryu, and then switched after losing back to Fei. I reset the bracket and lost 3-1 in the last set. Fei is so hard to compete with. I feel like everything I have gets out classed by him. I was making really good reads, but in the end it would come down to him doing a lot more damage for every touch compared to my stuff. I was able to get him with a couple of resets since he tried to dp me after a stand forward reset. After I did the little glitch to him, he stopped trying me there. It would have been 3-2 but I messed up the frame trap. I hit him with jab jab, wait, st. fierce and I tried to palm but because all three punches was on I accidently got the ex palm instead. Oh well.
i know you cant dive kick his RH. youre absolutely right about him ending up even or frame advantage and getting his cr.lk out if you do it in that situation.
but like i was telling the other dude, cr.mk and sweep duck under it from max range and will whiff punish it from a decent range. if you tag him he’ll switch to far mk. you can dive kick that button pretty well
also try raw fierce rekka instead of mp at far ranges or in situations where you think you’ll see scissors. like if you force a bison player to block a string ending in palm. or if he blocks a far rh from you. its still kind of a shitty reward on block, but it’ll check him from always trying to get his offense started off of your pressure
You can, but like otori said, it’ll make them lose back charge and even if they still do get the reversal, it’ll go the wrong way. But honestly its more of a mind fuck kind of thing for me. They challenge it once and think it was just some weird situation, then they go for it again, but get the same results. So they look over at me and I’m just smiling and that’s when they realize that they dun goofed. And then they respect the mix up, especially since all of my air resets are off the jump forward short.
But can you be jabbed or thrown out of the roundhouse after the reset?
Here’s a match I played in endless on PSN vs a rather run-of-the-mill Bison. I barely lost, but since I use Bison a bit, I know what to look for and counter effectively. It’s mostly getting the timing down vs certain escapes and maximizing the godliness that is his j.MK. Otherwise I find it a reaction based match up that forces you to play not as dive kicky as some others.
