trickiest part is hitting the 2Y Flame just as EoA ends so that the opponent goes into the untechable knockdown state. don’t cancel it, but wait a split second after Strange says “Palm” then input FoF.
damage: ~1,078,300 with Lvl 3 ender. had to use a lvl 3 to get that damage, but fuck it, I’m tired of seeing Vergil/Dante/Zero hogging the SRK front page every time there’s a UMvC3 video roundup. damage is probably more or less the same as rogueyoshi’s if you DHC to Sphere Flame but I’m too tired now to try it out. combo’s pretty difficult lol. I’ll record it tomorrow and submit it as a tip. Strange needs some love from SRK, and enough with the team Trenchcoat Mafia already. -____-
Well two problems. First is that I don’t have a setup, and secondly its hard af for me. In terms of difficulty, I’d say its a step above Zero’s Raikousen Clone loop back in vanilla. What that means is I can’t do it well, and I keep dropping it due to execution errors.
I’ve looped the sequence 4 times at one point and thats as high as I can go before I mess up. Most of the time I can’t get past 2, and I’ve only gotten to 3 once (when I looped it 4 times). I feel like 6 would be adequate proof that its an infinite, but 8 would definitely put any doubt to rest.
I got finals this week so I don’t really have the time to practice it, but after those are out of the way I’m gonna mess around with it for a couple of hours. If my own lack of execution is clearly a barrier I’ll pass on my findings to someone more capable, although Rogue apparently has stumbled upon the same thing or somethin similar.
Just want to confirm something, can you only combo into the palm loop after an L Mystic Sword only when they have been impact palmed at first? How about after a sweep into L Mystic Sword?
Not sure exactly what you’re trying to ask, but there are other ways to combo into Impact Palm xx Mystic Sword L. I do it all the time off of Disruptor assist. Sweep xx Impact Palm xx Mystic Sword L work on some of the larger characters, but I don’t recommend relying on that kind of confirm.
Well, there are some different versions. What I try to do is adapt and go with the flow. It is A LOT easier to link a cr.H in a battle or a palm into a not-grounded enemy than to crumple them, so when that happens I tend to go for the impact loop, with that weird timing on the air series and from that to the loop. Any S that you hit will do it, even confirming out of the agamotto eye, or disks, or whatever. It deals a little less damage, but it is WAY more plausible to happen. Of course, if you can crumple the enemy and followup with the Faltine~MysticSword into Alzarath’s loop, its way better due to the damage dealt.
Also, what Settai said is true. IIRC any char from Vergil’s size and bigger will get hit by that.
posting my combo video later and what I think is the first Strange glitch ever… it’s really fucking weird and looks cheap. I wish my camera was recording while it happened but I was practicing my combo and fucked up the part with Strider I think. I backed off and all of a sudden Wesker was getting hit by 2Y over and over again but the Graces never disappeared. DESK HELP US!!
that glitch looks amazing! even if you block it will chip you to death since there’s no push blocking it. if it holds them in block stun they won’t be able to reversal out of it either…jawsome!!!
i’m guessing it was triggered when a character fell in after a snap. probably screwed with the targeting or some jazz
I… think so, yeah. maybe like on the super rare occasion that 2Y hits at the same time Eye of Agamotto does, but again I’m not quite sure. the glitch is super cheap though. 10 hits kills Wesker since each hit of 2Y is 100k. o__O really wish I recorded the fuck-up that led to the glitch, but oh well.
now if it worked with 3Y… goodness gracious. I submitted the video to the front page. hopefully I can get some answers as to how it works cuz let’s be real, not like Quicksilver glitch in Vanilla was allowed in tournaments. what more a glitch like this gives Strange free Grace setups and puts the opponent in infinite hit/block stun.
I’m trying to look for a better hit confirm on Strange that can also be relied on as a safe blockstring. Mystic Sword L is pretty safe and I’m wondering if I can go into the Palm Loop with lmh xx Impact Palm xx Mystic Sword L.
when a character switches out the graces of hoggaths and the fire ball doodad have to switch targets. the switch might of occurred on the same frame as the fireball hitting the hoggaths and it didn’t have a target or some jazz. if this is the case, you sir have yourself a snap back set up in the corner as long as you hit them on the way in and force them into it.
I tried all the ‘regular’ loops, and he is way too fast for all of them. But I’m confident that there are x-factor combos with him. Only thing is, WHAT THE F are their inputs.
xfactor loops = just delay your jump after the S, do properly timed delayed mh impact palm then do the jump loop
but instead of [mmh impact palm] just do [m h impact palm]
after a SoV xfactor teleport you can loop [m h impact palm] infinitely at least in xf3 (havent tried 2 or 1) until thor dies
In XF 2 and 3 you can do a true infinite with launch impact palm medium teleport impact palm and launch and just repeat indefinitely, its good after a long combo then SoV then H teleport and land and impact palm launch and go from there.
Reading this thread has been a great help with my strange game. I used to use a silly little grace setup without a palm loop for semi-respectable damage, but I need to go for the gusto, because my strange gets eaten after landing approximately one combo and change. I’m trying the palm loop from both :L: :H: palm :S: and :L: :H: palm :L: :H: palm :S: and in both cases I can do the standard delayed j. j. j. j.:H: j.palm (land) j. j. j.:H: j.palm (land) but it’s about this point that dude hops out of it. I’ve had more luck with doing [whatever] to :S: j. j. j.:H: j.palm (land) :H: palm :S: j. j. j.:H: j.palm j.:S: (land) daggers xx book. The damage on this doesn’t satisfy me though and it doesn’t hold up if you use a grace setup during the initial palm crumple.
The other problem I have with this is that it’s hard to convert from any ol’ hit to this for any sort of damage. I’ve been having a bit of luck setting up graces for relaunches and getting into the 600k range but I feel like I am plateauing with strange way more often than I have with like any other character. I’ve been grinding in the lab for hours. Wish I picked a character with less execution to be obsessed with!
I am happy with his 4:H: and 6:H: performance though, especially illusion against divekickers tends to tear them right apart. Obviously the palm OS is beast as hell, especially since you can then cancel it into a safe move if it’s blocked. But yeah. Can’t convert hits into combos very easily, can’t do big damage combos, and I also have trouble getting ground palm to connect sometimes, due to the way his buttons push back. I can take care of that last problem on my own well enough, but I need a few pointers on how to convert and extend my palm loops.
I realize I am asking for help after I haven’t been very detailed in my description of my combo, but I’m not sure at this point which details I should give. Feel free to ask me questions about my playstyle or combo sequence or whatever. I just wanna get this guy down. thanks in advance~
