You think you're hungry? You're not

Alright, time for me to pitch something positive in this shit.

FUCK EVERYTHING!

I’m saying it right now, I am going to have beaten EVERY person in the NW scene using Seth in a tournament, it will take me awhile to calculate all those 'W’s, but I know it will happen. Please learn the match up ahead of time so it’s not Free.

On another note, if you suck, you should be hungry. I know I suck, I quenched most of my hunger learning some basics and gimmicks that my character has to offer, but I do know that I’ll have the fundamentals and basics down come less than one months time, so be ready for someone who doesn’t play games for fun, I’m going to stop smiling, stop giggling, stop laughing, and make sure you all have a new fear/anger toward the Yin-Yang twins.

“Wait till you see my… Sonic boom?”

If that’s what you think I’m saying, you’re misreading. Talking ish in competition is not treating people like ish. You’re getting the wrong idea completely. Fighting words are fighting words. I can take you out to dinner and say your game is worse than the last dump I took. I can treat you well while bringing your GAME into question. It depends on your attitude. If you’re the type to think that casual games and how well you do in them means more than how you perform at a national tournament, you’re probably not one that handles pressure well and wouldn’t be one that benefits from ish talking in the first place. Different strokes for different folks.

Have you been around the country? I’ve been around and have lived here twice. Back in 2003 and now. Both times there have been no less than 30 players. That many people over a span of 6-7 years is stable. There are still places in the country where people are lucky to gather 5 people to play.

That’s what I mean by stable. Seattle has never been at a loss for players. Any time a good game is released, the players flock more than the majority of scenes throughout the country.

Geez, the gatherings Zach has at his house are rare in comparison to the rest of the country.

Apoc.

I think a lot of the newer/suckier players are hungry, they just don’t know how to eat properly yet.

Longer diatribe coming eventually.

The best way to start eating is start this diet of consumables:

Cancels
Links
Dash/Backdash
FADC
Basic Combos
Blocking
Normals (Pokes)
Execution

That’s a fair enough list of simple things to practice with your specific character. I haven’t even completed this list, but I was just explained to as to what plinking is and how I can incorporate it into my game.

jalapNo has spoken?

Pretty interesting that Valle is seeing the same thing that we are here. We have an amazing community of players but an aspect of what caused the growth in the scene is all but hidden from players nowadays.

Understand that when I met Watson, there was smack talking. When I met Thao Duong=smack talking. Nelson and I=we talk smack. Cole and I? We’ve talked some ish, believe me. I could make a list longer than my… ego. We’re all friends and always have been. We made one another better and we laugh at all the smack talk years later. When I’m competitive, I STILL talk smack. If I’m not talking smack, you can bet I’m not even caring to try. Holy Crap, Julien and I have epic crap talking history all the way back to '95! Yall just don’t know! lol I love all of my rivals. But get us drunk and reminiscing and yall would probably laugh your ass off at us!

There is NOTHING like that right now.

Seriously, if Pablo and Airthrow could infect yall with some attitude you’d see how much more fun the scene would be. Look at sports or MMA. Don’t tell me they indulge in competitors’ personalities before matches for nothing. It’s understood that matches become more interesting when personalities and smack talking is thrown into the mix. That’s how fights are sold. Generate interest=generate money. Same thing here. Generate interest=bigger tourneys and more passionate competitors.

I love the community here. It sucks to say this, but if everyone is all friendly and buddy buddy, the Northwest might as well be one big circle jerk. Let your balls hang and get serious when you throw down.

I have barely played SF4 and I’ll see yall at Evo. When I rip you a new one(and I will), just remember that I told yall why you will lose. If you’re afraid of acting competitively because someone may not like your attitude, you are already not a competitor. You’re submissive by nature. If your game is good, no matter how much you’re hated or liked, you will always have someone to play. I’ve been loved and I’ve been hated and I’ve always had people wanting to play me even at my worst.

Quit making excuses. When you’re in competition, you’re trying to win the match. You’re not trying to get your opponents phone number(ok, maybe some of you are, I don’t know). Put your game face on, get rough, and after the competition, go out and have a nice laugh with everyone.

Apoc.

Nah, South would just own. :smokin:

Lets do this mofo~! We play in TW next so I’m looking forward to it! I haven’t played you since before Evo, meaning I’m going to be out for BLOOD!

^The North is hungrier…yeah I said it prove me wrong south.

Wildcard is going to fuck shit up friday. wait and see.

Haha, damn right!! I actually found one of our trash talking threads

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.games.sf2/browse_thread/thread/c38101cdc2db7b47/74d458cc61e6c87b

Classic, I’m cracking up reading it now. Even John Choi jumps in the thread.

Totally agree that we have no rivalries today like we did back in the day. Man we sound like old men “Back in my day we didn’t have no dagdum internet…”

Julien

sounds about right

Yknow, I dunno who’s the bigger Apoc fan between me or Mickey, but let me just say Apoc entered this thread for real. He put it down! KEEP POSTING JASON!

This is a good point, but the thing is, people nowadays are still fucking soft. Rivalries are only beneficial if the participating parties can actually handle it. People here are so quick to get butt hurt, catch feelings over the most minuscule bullshit, and take everything personal. There are very few people here I can actually call out and not take it as a personal attack on their reputation or manhood. For example, I can call out Beasley and challenge his bitch ass Dictator with my Gief in a first to 10. He would accept and most likely beat the shit out of me, but that wouldn’t stop us from pounding some Muscle Milk afterward.

Again, it comes down to having no where to play. Players buddy up and the circle jerk/nut swinging mentality flourishes. It is no one’s fault really, just the reality of the situation. Gameworks is sadly the only place we can play each other in a neutral setting. I mean really, I wouldn’t go to someone’s home and start talking shit to my street fighter arch enemy. That would just be annoying to the host and make other gamers feel awkward. Not many options left nowadays.

The obvious solution is to create a portable street fighter setup so that we can meet in parking lots and back alleys and have rumbles.

Mandel and I have a rivalry. We’re gutter like that.

LMFAO at Bob Painter’s emo X-Japan (great band BTW) signature!

Bob Painter=Shirts right? If so that guy does not look like he would be an X-Japan fan…especially with how easily he rages and punches his own HRAP and storms off.

During casuals.

im hungry ~_~

your problem bro is the entire team thing. you dont need a north vs south, or east vs west, to create competiveness. sf4 is not a team game. its a 1 vs 1 game. the entire point of this thread is this. you should play EVERYONE just as fierce as your rival. never lose the will to fight, dont give up rounds out of sympathy, dont congratulate your opponent everytime he lands a combo, fucking think how to win instead of thinking how to be a homie.

friend time is after matches, but during a game you should focus on how to outsmart/beast your opponent, rather than thinking about if you will hurt his feelings if you perfect him.

kinda blazed, not sure if i thought this post out thoroughly

No, Bob Painter isn’t Shirts. Bob Painter is Kuroppi/Kuroyume. Bob plays Honda and Zangief.
Shirts is Jason DeHaras and he plays O. Dhalsim.

Shirts was getting hella heated during casuals. I like that, because I don’t even know what “casual” means.
