You May Be of Some Use to Me: The Dr Doom Team thread

When I purchase Jill later today I’m going to try something like Jill(?)/Tron(Fire)/Doom(Missiles/Rocks). I figured that both of my assists could help Jill get in and start doing her crazy mixups. Plus I’ve gotten so used to Tron/Doom that it’s hard to play anything else. :rofl: I’m not sure which Doom assist to use. Rocks helps a lot with Tron’s corner combos but missles is better (in my opinion) for getting in.

Does anyone have any tips for this team?

I use Doom on point with Plasma Beam, Dormammu with Dark Hole, and Storm with Whirlwind.

Storm’s Whirlwind assist helps with the keep away aspect and really helps with in your face characters, while Dark Hole keeps opponents still and I can keep pressure in for Doom. I usually combine j.H with Whirlwind assist. Any tips?

The team I like using right now is Doom/Shuma/Dormmamu, but I am not sure about which assists to use or which order to play them in. I’m fairly seasoned at SSF4, but I’m having trouble transitioning into MvC3. Any tips or suggestions on order/assists?
Not looking to switch characters, just tired of getting my shit pushed in during online matches.

I find it hard to use any other assist but Molecular Shield when rocking Tron/Doom, it just works perfectly as a follow up to Tron’s OTG c.:h: > f.:h:, maybe I just like it because Im lazy, but it gives Tron enough time to follow up with her capture gun effortlessly… I would definitely rock Plasma Beam if I had another applicable assist though, but my third character is Viper so that’s a no go, lol.

Can’t say much about Jill, but everyone loves Gustaff Fire and [insert Doom assist here], I like Tron and Doom, because your third character is guaranteed to have access to two assists that can do like, anything… lol

I use Tron with fire, X-23 with ankle and Doom with Rocks. Both X-23’s and Doom’s are good for Tron combos, Doomrocks can setup mirage feint shenanigans for X-23 and i find that Doom works really well without need for assists, so he anchors the team.
To be honest, i came in the thread to look for uses I’m bound to have overlooked in the “assists with Doom on point” topic.

so far I’ve been using a team of Wesker (low shot)/Super-Skrull (orbital grudge)/Doctor Doom (rocks). it’s worked pretty well so far, with wesker on point as battery, skrull for damaging combos using meter, and doom coming in with the rocks to setup mixups with wesker. I’m unsure of doom as my anchor though. should I re-order this team? what do you guys think?

I use the same exact team although my order is different. Doom(rocks)/Skrull(Orbital Grudge)/Wesker(low shot)

Team is fucking Godlike! Unblockable set-ups all day long with both Doom and Skrull.
As long as you’re on point with Doom’s relaunch combo he works great at building meter. This team is so dirty I love it.

I like the idea of Magz backing up Doom. Magz has that beam assist, nothing special but it helps cover doom’s air dash ins, makes them almost air tight and un-pushblock-able. Also, I believe two of Magz hypers can be DHC’d off of Doom’s BnB that ends in a Sphere Flame. I believe the pillars will reach up there, and Gravity Squeeze most definitely will for unscalled damage. A 700k BnB into a Level 3… they’re probably dead.

a low assist might cause Doom’s whatever block string [call assist] into DC cancel JC air dash forward jM, to be an unblockable. I like Deadpool’s Quick Work for that.

^Mags and Doom(plasma beam) is a really strong team. I played against Dieminion using Mags,Doom,Dorm in tournament and the zoning felt like an MVC3 version of Guile.Heres the video of my second match against him where he uses the combination well:

(my Doom is ass but I have improved him in the 2 weeks since then I think).

My team is usually Doom (rocks), Hulk (AA gamma), Wesker (low shot). I feel this team has some good synergy. Anyone could be good on point, solid at zoning, mix-up, good stamina, etc.

Rocks help hulk get in, AA Gamma is good for when you want to zone with doom or a decent GTFO me move, and Wesker helps Hulk OTG easier + helps doom with some unblockables.

Doom and Hulk can DHC into each other pretty nicely.

-Doom BnB ending in sphere flame, DHC into Gamma Crush is really good damage.
-(In corner) Hulk BnB into Gamma Quake DHC into Photon Array is also pretty good.


I feel like Doom has to be on my team. I really like him. I want to build some other teams around doom though.

I just this weekend started playing Zero Taskmaster Doom(missiles), and love it a LOT. Plan to play this team exclusively for a long time. Task and missiles makes for a really sick zoning trap, and Zero works with missile and Task arrows both reeeally well. one point hardcore rush, one point hardcore runaway. Task is non-negotiable, but for the 1-spot I’ve been trying to think who can best abuse hidden missiles. Rushdown or runaway are a-OK w/ me. I posted in the general Doom thread asking which characters according to current theory can be cheapest w/ hidden missiles. But I figured in here I could discuss the team specifics.

Ammy makes a ton of sense, and I have experience with her too. Plus lots of video reference of Clockwork using Ammy-Doom.
Sent can run away really nicely with missiles and I bet with some real thought and practice behind it, could have an incredible trap developed.
Magneto and Storm can both rush hella on the back of missiles, and Task arrows give you a continuation of the attack when you’ve gotten in. I’m pretty much using Zero for this role now.
Dante, Wesker, and Akuma could likely work really well too, not for any specific reason other than that Dante Wesker and Akuma are awesome.

Anyway, I wanted to submit Zero (handeki) Taskmaster (horizontal) Doom (missile) for your approval. I’d be more than happy to explain the strategies and tactics I’ve come up with so far, but figure most of you don’t come on here, read a team in a team thread, and go “I’m gonna use that exact team now!” But if anyone has any experience with either Zero+missiles or Task+missiles, I’d love to hear some fun strats.

do OTG gamma wave > Gamma crush DHC into sphere flame for much more.

While it is more, it wasn’t a huge amount.

Bnb > Quake> photon array is around 800k

BnB >OTG Gamma > Crush > Sphere was about 865k

I also like Task/Doom duo. Right now my team is Task/Dorm/Doom, but I’m thinking of ditching Dorm (he helps Tasky to setup unblockables and mean crossups, but DHCs from him are not very damaging and whole team can be easily killed by hardcore rushdown). Imho, best candidates for Dorm’s place are: Zero (really good synergy and he is rusher, his assists are not good tho), Storm (DHC trick to Taskmaster, nice DHCs overall and she is cool) or She-hulk (unblockables for Tasky and Doom, all DHCs work and she is also cool).

whats your Hulk corner BnB with Doom?

cause you can get that dmg before the DHC.

after standard launcher series, call doom plasma beam or rocks, OTG wave, cr.H, S, sj.S, OTG wave xx gamma crush.

if you started the combo without a bounce you can call doom plasma beam or rocks, OTG wave, st.M, L anti air gamma charge*, H followup, cr.H, S, sj.S, OTG gamma wave xx gamma crush.

L seems most consistent to me to still get the H followup.

Alright I’ve pretty much settled on Wesker/Doom for my main team. I need a third, somebody who can burn meter really well. So far I’ve been thinking Dorm or Phoenix could find their way in there, but I’m still ho-hum on them. Any ideas?

Either Dorm or Phoenix would work well.

If you’re using Dorm, put him 2nd since Wesker can get him the meter he needs and benefit from Doom Plasma Beam (pseudo-Wesker teleport crossups). Doom as an anchor has a lot of options covered.

I’m currently testing X-23(ankle slice), Trish(Low Voltage), Doom(Hidden Missiles) and its been pretty good for me.

I can go from x-23’s hyper(either one but probably weapon x-prime for a damage reset) to round harvest into hard tag doom sphere flame after an x-23 combo for a lot of damage. I can also do trish’s electric hyper(w/e its called) into weapon-x prime(even works fullscreen) into sphere flame as well.

I can use trish’s assist for mix-ups with x-23, or missiles to keep them blocking. Missiles can also help trish’s zoning game, x-23’s ankle slice can also be used for unblockables and helps trish’s high/low mix-up game. Doom is last because doom needs no partners.

I’m thinking of Task(3 shot direct arrow)/Doom(missile)/Haggar(lariat)

in paper it sounds like the an extremely solid Doom team but I would have to learn how to use Task.

^Thats my team but I use plasma beam for Doom.The team is really flexible in that you can zone with arrows and plasma beam assist really well (using plasma beam to cover the ground and firing arrows upwards with Task covers alot of space on screen) but you can also use it to rushdown with Taskmaster on point. Haggar benefits from the beam assist because he can make mixups off the cr.H invincibility whilst rolling.It also helps him advance more safely.
