You May Be of Some Use to Me: The Dr Doom Team thread

Chris/Doom/Sent

Chris builds up so much meter for the other two to use.

Or Sent/Doom/xxx

Land Sent’s Hard Drive, DHC to Doom, proceed to rape them in the corner.

no worries,he just kept his assists out and wave dashing when i was using advancing guard, was unlimited pressure and i would sometimes try to get my doormamu assist out when in the corner = bad idea.

I’ve resorted to only using haggar assist when i want to counter pressure and using sent/dormammu assists when i want to start pressure.

sential assist A is ridiculous. When its out I can really start my mixup with doom, crossups/low/high everything. using haggar as my third just because i know some matches people will be on me with better rushdown than i can give.

any recommendations for a good person to add to a team with Wesker and Doom?

I was thinking X-23 maybe? I’m mostly just picking characters I like right now…

Those two build a lot of meter, so maybe a character that uses a lot of meter would be nice to add. but of course whatever u enjoy is fine. Ideally someone who burns a lot of bar would be a nice complement.

Surprised at the lack of Doom (Plasma Beam)/Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer)/Phoenix (TK Shot) teams. Based on my plays on ranked, I would say this team is inherently broken.

Doom stalls at the beginning, plays keep away, and baits with Morrigan’s assist. His second role is to cover Morrigan and Phoenix with a full screen assist. Allowing them to waltz across the stage with protection.

Morrigan is the wildcard. Your use of her is dependent on how good the situation looks. Sometimes she’s expendable, and sometimes she’s the most needed. Her meter heavy game is typically what holds her back.

Phoenix should only be defensive if Doom is dead. In all other situations she should RTSD with Plasma Beam assist and cross-up teleports. If Doom is a alive Dph will never be needed. lolz

I guess this isn’t best for letting Doom shine as point but, based on damage, I see him as a very mobile tank character. His movement just doesn’t cut it. Instead, I opted for making Doom my teams most valued character.

I thought about this team as well, Doom on point is really fun. I found though, that not only was I just ho-hum on playing with Morrigan but her meter building assist for Phoenix isn’t really necessary. Having another character with an assist that helps pressure works well enough for building meter. I found Wolverine on point with Doom assist works well, as did another poster, but for the most part one has a wide variety of choices for a third character running Doom/Phoenix.

Doom / Wolverine / Super-Skrull

Doom (molecular shield), Sentinel (Bomb), Morrigan (Shadow Blade), I think a pretty consistent team

Is DOOM DOOMED?

Rocking Wesker(Samurai Edge), Doom(Beam), and Dormammu(Hole). The team seems solid and Doom and Mammu both assist and fill their roles well, but Wesker is iffy. I might go Skrull instead. Honestly I’m having a hard time choosing a good “on-point” rushdown oriented character to balance my team out.

Doom(Missles)/Tron(Boulder)/Dante(Jam Session)

Considering subbing dante for sent, but gotta practice more. DHC from doom air super sucks for tron, you have to time it just right. Dante is lenient though.

Doom (not sure which assist)/Hulk (Gamma Charge)/ Dormammu (Purifcation)

Tips?

Hidden Missiles are good for rushing down with Hulk. I’d go with him on the rocks, but you already have Dormammu’s pillar.

I use Sent-a/Doom-b/Phoenix-a

I was actually using the same team with same set-up. Thinking about switching out for Magneto for more rushdown and easy keepaway. But, I need to practice more with Doom in terms of getting in.

Using wolverine (barrage), Haggar (lariat), Doom (rocks).

I feel my team is all right, but I’m trying to work more crossup/highlow tactics into my assists. Right now pretty much all I do is the rocks + wolverine’s crossup slash into combo. Is there anything else/ any other assist selections I could use for this?

Trying to make my team work as a unit so that no matter who the point character, my assists will help them out somehow but I keep running into a few walls. Right now I’m using Hulk(gamma wave), Zero(Projectile), and Doom(can’t decide). I’ve been using Zero as my main point man and it’s been great to be able to relaunch people OTG with Zero’s downward air attack+doom’s plasma beam, but Hidden Missiles has saved my butt plenty of times, but there are a lot of times where the opponents have learned how to get away from them and it’s pointless. I can’t really figure out a use for the rocks assist, but everyone is telling me it’s great.

Also if Zero bites the dust and i’m using Hulk, the plasma beam assist paired with Hulk’s gamma wave attack is more than enough to stop opponents who sit in the corner and projectile spam. But if Doom is my point man, I can’t really make use of Zero’s projectile assist unless he’s shadow mode so I was thinking using Zero’s uppercut since it’s hard to keep pressure off of Doom when your opponent is rushing, but then I think it would be better to use Hulk’s uppercut since it has armor on it… but then I lose that awesome gamma wave… but do I really need it since Doom’s projectiles are so baller already? I could ramble and go back and forth all day, but hopefully someone can lend some insight to this situation!

X23 (ankle)/ Doom (missiles)/ either Dorm (black hole), Sent (force), and Phoenix (TK shot)

I’ve been running cap(shield slash)/skrull(tenderizer)/doom(plasma beam).

I still need to play around with the molecular shield assist, but lately I really like the plasma beam because it helps my cap and skrull get close to the opponent keeping them relatively safe.

Hidden missles are such a double edged sword. Great when they work, potentially DEVASTATING to your team when they fail.

cap’s assist is nice to allow for doom to close distance if desired, and skrull’s tenderizer isn’t bad for anti-air. I’m still pretty new to the whole marvel thing, I’m a tekken player lol. Using assists as a regular thing is still something I’m trying to figure out.
