You lack discipline oh foreign knight! The Arthur Thread

Uhhh in terms of Arthur tech, heres a playlist:

I suggest checking out the Arthur BnB compilation by Honzo Gonzo.

Theres also a lot of random Arthur stuff on my channel plugplugplugplug: http://www.youtube.com/user/Alrikir

Cancelling into a scythe on block isnt too spectacular, everyone just pushblocks it, in which case you get pushed back, and the opponent doesnt get pulled forward because theyre pushblocking. Also Arthur is too slow to be able to get back in because of how far hes been pushed back, so you have to go back to zoning, in which case you would want more space so ending a blockstring with Daggers or something would be better.

If you want to loop a block string outside of Factor try this:

But again free to push block.

Thanks. I watched all the videos in the first playlist, and a few in the second. Enormously helpful.

Nothing makes me feel better than baiting a Gimlet or Bionic Arm, then dodging it with a hyper. Also, I lol when I kill a teleporter with SJ.S, cr.H into combo.

question about your firebottle loop rikir. I can’t tell in the video if you start with j.s or j.m to start the loop?

Uhhh could you link the combo youre referring to? I cant seem to find it myself lol.

Philosophers have discovered yet another lost question of the universe:
"Why doesn’t Arthur have a dash?"

This is perplexing, because it is the only instance in the entire Marvel series where a character has no dash whatsoever. It even contradicts Ghosts & Goblins, because he had a dash in that universe too. Furthermore, the “man who runs through hell itself” cannot dash, but a tentacled divine being with no feet has both an airdash and a ground dash.

Recently, advances in technology have provided a glimpse of what could have been. In an alternate reality in which Arthur at least got an airdash, he is described as “Viewtiful Joe on crack … Safest rushdown in the game … OMFG Heavenly Slash is broken cause he’s always in your face”. While this may sound strange to us, note that it is only a simulation and not a real phenomenon. Sadly, this question shall be put to rest with the creation of the universe and the origins of man: never to be proven but always questioned.

Trying out Arthur in HnH? He really is awesome with an air dash.

Ah yes kinderparty knows where it’s at.

Wait Kinderparty sold his soul to Vergil? For shammeeeeee!

Arthur in Gold Armor runs into thread

Just broke 3,000 ranked match wins online! With about 3,140 losses so I’ve lost my share also, but my point Arthur & keepaway team have still kicked a lot of ass. The guy i beat was a Vergil player so that was sweet also. Predictable Teleports and spiral swords fluff were nothing compared to thy steel.

Suddenly Doom & Hawkeye appear and they along with Arthur in the center, in all red outfits, strike a cool pose in the middle of the thread with the words appearing on-screen: Keepaway Specialist

Huzzah!

Arthur throws lances x2 at screen and runs out of thread while the A-Team theme plays in the background

Arthur would NEVER say “ass”. **POSER  **

Seriously, how do you deal with Captain 'Murica and Derpgil? I can almost handle the rest of the cast when I get going (armor up>BIUNIC…ERRRRRM!) but those two never cease to create large amounts of salt. All that salt was cool at first, but now I’m running out of uses for it. Can you make a car out of Marvel Salt? ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT!

Yeah capt is a dick. You just have to be extremely careful in your approach. Look at things from a Capt’s perspective, they are hoping you’re going to shoot stuff at them so they can punish. What i do is refrain from keep away but instead use mindgames and lots of hit & run. Jumping over capt and assisting with missiles, fire bottle on the ground to limit his movement, double jumping to throw him off guard, and jumping S usage. Capitalizing on launching & combos whenever possible. Its tricky because Cap’s strength is the direct antithesis to Arthur’s.

Just know that you CANNOT do your usual keepaway game when he is around. Thats automatic lose. You have to completely change up your gameplan.

Also you just have to accept that sh*t happens sometimes and you’re going to get caught. Just try to stay calm and not freak out when it happens, so you can recover and not continue to get hit by stuff.

I’ve already asked about this in the PW forums, but what would be a good assist for Arthur/PW? I deeply wish I could run Arthur/PW/Ghost Rider, but … F**K YOU CAPCOM! If you can think of a way to make them work, I would be most grateful.

I like randomly using Wright’s missile assist during Arthur’s keep-away. Nothing is funnier than seeing someone get hit by a dog because they tried to stand block Arthur. My Wright is currently a bit underwhelming, but my GR is actually solid if GR/Arthur is better than Arthur/PW.

I’m speculating what kind of playstyle you’re after here, but Arthur and Phoenix give you good ground coverage thanks to Daggars, paper and Missile.

So what I suggest is either:

 1. A get-off-me assist. A well-placed uppercut, an invincible assist like Haggar’s Lariat, or a good shocker like Jam Session. Since you like Ghost Rider, you might learn to use Heartless Spire with good spacing?

 2. A vertical assist so you can deal with aerial or tri-dashing pressure. Uppercuts, Vajras, Missiles, Jam Session, etc. Cover your angles well so your team is a little more versatile.

I’ve suggested Dante a few times, so maybe consider him. I don’t know how well Dante works with Arthur, but he supplements Wright’s game like a charm.

Ghost Rider on point, Arthur second, Wright third. Build 3 bars with Ghost Rider while using Dagger Toss and Get 'em Missile! and end a combo with Spirit of Vengeance (H) -> Gold Armor -> Wright’s Maya Hyper (forget the name). Get evidence and be happy.

Alternatively, put Wright on point, and abuse Ghost Rider’s crossover counter, which is one of the best in the game.

Gahh! Arthur and Phoenix Wright on the same team? No wonder you’re having trouble. This is friggin’ UMVC3! If you’re going to champion a low-tier, then only one per team. This game is just too damned brutal otherwise.

Arthur: Great keep away character, but he’s in a game where everyone else is a melee, TOD combo beast. He can fend for himself on point but he needs better characters on his team.

Phoenix Wright: Poor melee, poor keepaway, etc. Pretty low tier. At least Arthur has decent mobility, nice surprise offensive options, great projectiles, etc. PW is just a sitting duck.

Going to have to choose: Arthur or PW.

Yeah, I think I’m going to have separate teams for Arthur, GR, and Wright.
Hulk/Arthur/Doom
GR/Strange/Dante
Hawkeye/Wright/Doom

Alright, so after a long Ghost Rider combo, I discovered that I can DHC into Gold Armor and just barely land Arthur’s dp.H into a ground bounce. Assuming high hit stun deterioration, do I have any follow-up there besides maybe s.S into j.S?

runs into thread

Fellow knights, might i have your attention please.

Arthur walks to the wall…pauses for a moment and… hangs up lance. Dramatic gasps are heard

Basically UMVC3 is all i play on my XBOX 98% of the time. Lately i was in need of extra money and since my system set was still in immaculate shape, it seemed kinda wasteful to keep for one game. So i sold it on e-bay and shipped today after schooling a few players online. The last guy i beat was a Hulk & spencer player, so that was satisfying haha.

Anyway, since buying UMVC3 on launch i’ve dedicated myself to maining Arthur on point and making him work, with Hawkeye second and Doom(missiles) for anchor. Yup it was undiluted, pure keepaway!

Its been a long road with tons of ups & downs as i flew the Arthur flag when it seemed like no one else would. So many instances when i was ready to quit from the salt, but i kept at it and always came back with a vengeance. In this time i also attended 4 tournaments and did decent, always taking out 2-3 players and close matches with others, before i was finally taken down. I made Arthur legit!

camera pans down…the corpses of countless Weskers, Vergils, and Dantes litter the ground

Again, i always played my Arthur on point. The way it should be! A TRUE King should lead his troops onto the battlefield, not hide in the background. So i ask you who here will continue my work?

makes comical cupped hand gesture as he continues…

Who here has the STONES to thrust thyself headlong into battle, and facing insurmountable odds, whilst holding only your lance? Who i say?!

Not I, sir. He is certainly enjoyable to play, but I believe I would tire of him being on point.
