You lack discipline oh foreign knight! The Arthur Thread

Hmmm Ill see how much I can do with one bar when I get back from Vegas.

Well see, this specific combo requires Joe and RR. Joe because his DP assist is the only assist so far I know of that aids him in doing his new j.H j.S crossbow loop, and RR because he is the only one with a wallbounce that hits high enough for him. After those are used up, it’s all Arthur.

Right now, the notation is:

c.L, c.M, s.H, f.H, S, j.H, j.S, (jump) Joe assist, j.S, [sj, (instant) j.H, j.S, qcf+H,] x3, s.H, RR assist, j.S, sj, (instant) j.S, (delay) dp+H, qcb+L, qcb+H xx qcb+LM, (delay) dp+H, qcb+L, (instant) sj, (delay) j.S (instant) xx qcb+H, jump, (delay) qcb+M, qcb+H, dp+M.

[Note: All dp+H must only have the second hit strike them.
Crossbow loop works midscreen and carries, but this full combo will NOT work midscreen]

Now this combo is sort of unfinished since I believe you can do more before you end with dp+M (and into qcf super if you like), but my execution bars me from doing very much more at the moment. I just know there is more you can do (through random encounter or by theory fighting) before that finish, which would probably result in 1mil with just 1 bar. Still theory though. Can’t remember how much the above did, but I have broken 800k before the finish.

And hey, if it doesn’t break 1mil, you still did over 800k with just one bar, with THIS guy. That’s big for him imo. At least now if you actually land a hit you get damage. But again, team specific. Feel free to experiment with assists.

Oh we can use assists? Well my team doesnt really give me good assists for comboing with Arthur, but ill see what I can do. But the cross bow loop sounds godlike. I should see if I can pull it off regularly.

It’s rather easy. I did it at the end of this. Fucked up with no SJ, but at the time I didn’t know you could continue it with RR assist.

Allright so I can get the loop to sorta work with my setup, but the most I can seem to get with Jam Session and Gustaff Fire is 787k.

How does that work? I only know how to continue from the wallbounce.

s.LMH6HS > j.MMHS > j.s + Tron assist > (sj. MS xx 236H) x 2 > 5S > j.MMHS > 214L > 5S + Dante Assist > j.MM (double jump) S > 214L > 236XX.> 623M

I cant do the full bow loop since my assists dont put them in the right spot + too much scaling.

Hmm, I see. Really I’m just trying to see if I can find more assists that set him up to do the loop and keep going, this almost does that but it ends too fast compared to with Joe/RR assists and uses Ms instead of Hs, both lowering his damage and not following the original outline. Definite props to finding it though, Arthur needs everything he can get. Gonna lab it up some more tonight.

Scythe is quite possibly half of my arthur game. When they are at fullscreen and trying to get in, call an assists (I use Chris’s gunfire) and use air scythe at max jump height. If they jump, they have to block sythe, which causes huge knockback on block and on hit. If they just block, they are just sitting there, making no approach. And by the time the assist ends, Arthur is on the ground ready to throw some more stuff at them.

So heres some fun stuff.

Sorry rikir, the video is lagging too much for me, what are you explaining about the kara heavenly sword?

Also, do assists need to be used to make the crossbow loop happen midscreen?

Basically use heavenly sword’s invuln + powerup invuln to get through things and punish.

Basically this.

so do you do the sword and then powerup right after it to jump through supers and what not?

Pretty much. You can even use the Goddess Bracelet instead in some situations.

interesting, I play a lot of super spamming akumas, this could be very helpful midscreen.

there’s a vid somewhere of this tech being used to avoid an entire Spell of Vishanti, which lasts for 30 frames.
Heavenly Slash has 14 frames of invincibility and golden armour has 20…
just in case, Goddess Bracelet has 10.

the max frames you’ll get from heavenly slash into golden armour is 34 which is enough to deny and punish lot of supers in reaction

still… this tech has 2 big problems.
1- Golden Armour is VERY risky due to that ridiculous hard knockdown when it breaks.
2- you’ll only be able to do it when you’re grounded AND not throwing stuff… and this makes it REALLY situational… but still useful

Arthur can’t win without golden armor, gonna say it now imo

Perhaps with an assist that will swipe them out of the air, but without golden qcfH it’s just that much harder to stop them from simply jumping at you, and SJ with projectiles is possibly the worst idea for Arthur. His new j.S helps with horizontal movement but you can’t depend on that crap.

Ehhh unless youre fighting a better zoning character, going gold isnt really necessary. Saying he cant win without it seems a little too… harsh? I mean Capcom didnt make regular Arthur so bad that he cant deal with people jumping in on him. You should still be able to zone out anyone whos trying to jump in on you. If you can predict when Wesker or whoever is going to jump, then jump with him and shoot him out of the air.

Oh and dont forget that you dont always have to throw stuff at people, you can pause for a second and wait for them to jump and just air grab/anti air them. I guess you can think of it as like… Sagat. Yeah that guy.

Tiger shot! Tiger shot! What? Youre trying to jump over? TIGER UPPERCUT! Goes back to Tigershots

Also going air to air with your projectiles isnt exactly a bad idea, as long as youre actually air to air someone and your shots are actually hitting them. If not youre just superjumping and firing at nothing while the other guy is wavedashing under you, now THATS bad.

Of course I have Jam Session (woot) to help me out so I guess im not in the same situation as you are.

Allright so… 34 frames with armor, 24 frames with GB. I dont actually own the guide so I cant check the frame data, haha. Nice to know.

And yeah I guess it is pretty situational.

It’s not SF though. Marvel’s movement is much faster and harder to react to. Jumping in SF is shitty. Arthur can’t just DP every approach from the air and air options for say Nova or Mags are so good that he’ll just get destroyed for trying ANYTHING against them really. Assists or gold armor are the only way to keep them off you without being extra-predictable (up-back, heavenly sword), then you have to consider THEY have assists…
