aerial golden axe setups easy and damaging relaunches.

Whats the timing to combo into the aerial golden axe? I keep missing it for some reason.

My Arthur game has leveled up again! Sorta. Back when i was a newb i used to spam golden armor, but overtime learned to disregard it, and use all the meter for goddess bracelet instead. Due in part to breakage & hard knockdow(and lack of corner OTG).

However, recently just messing around and went back to my old ways…wow. Normally for every 3 matches i win, i lose 2 or more. Rarely have a win streak going…not this time.

Golden arrows, daggers, lances, and fire bottles are just sooooo good. And the reality of it is---- nobody gives a crap about Arthur in this game. He’s a pure keep away character in a game built to heavily reward aggressive play.

As such nobody plays him out outside the occasional 3rd assist/Cheesey X-factor gimmickry, so when they meet an Arthur most are inexperienced & aren’t aware of the opportunity broken armor represents.

But just in case, i always throw out an axe or fire bottle just before it breaks.

Going to a tournament soon and totally regressing back to my newb Arthur days, by saving all my meter for spamming Golden Armor. Gold projectiles just rock!

Sure no meter left for goddess bracelet and no corner OTG, but i feel the trade off in damage, durability, and other benefits might be worth it.

After playing Arthur exclusively in silver for the longest time and disregarding gold, i can really see the difference in damage, chip, and durability that Gold has. Really makes Arthur more viable if only Gold armor wasn’t temporary. Characters like Spencer & hulk with armored moves that i’d have a rough time keeping away from me, get knocked back pretty easily and torn up with Gold weapons.

And Golden arrows do a pretty good job of homing in on the usual spencer trying to zipline inside, and knocking him out of the air.

Did your tournament happen yet? How did our brave knight do?

Its been over for a while. Since i’d noticed i’d made 3 back-to-back posts, i wanted to wait for a bit till others posted which they did not. What the hell? Things are pretty quiet around here, am i the only one brave enough to fly the Arthur flag on the frontlines?

Anyway, i did decent. First tournament i beat two guys and lost against four. The losses were all fairly close though. One match in particular i beat this guy once, and on the second round it was down to just his spencer and my Hawkeye. I thought for sure he was far enough away so i did scattershot to finish him off with chip damage, and he killed me with a bionic Arm. Sooooooo close!

The guy who won the tournament was one of the better players, and actually placed in the top 50 at final round. My first match against him i did alright, but on the second my Arthur game really took him down. I had Arthur with 40% health + full health Doom, and he was left with Dante at 1/3rd health and no X-factor. Though for sure i had it but he did some crazy stuff with Dante to win it.

Second tournament i went to, i beat three guys and lost to two. Getting 3rd place. Not bad and my Arthur was able to take down this pesky Frank West user that had beaten me in a previous tournament, so i was happy about that haha :smiley:

Overall, the Knight made his presence known.

Marvisto apparently rocked a great Arthur last night at Big Two #26, though he ran him as anchor for his Firebrand/Taskmaster.

The knights are still around for sure True grave, just a little busy in faraway kingdoms.

Yes he’s very good with that team. But Firebrands damage output is so damn low, it’s kinda depressing. If that char had more of a damage output Marv woulda taken that tournament FREE.

what are peoples opinions for using air scythe for air control and ground pressure? I find it nice to add in after daggers, beam assist, lance x2 scythe. If they stand there and take it I can set up a high low with -> H and Haggars pipe.

Never gave it too much thought, I dont use the scythe too much.

I’ve been experimenting with the scythe and it’s not as high-risk-low-reward as I thought it to be.

I don’t agree with throwing it out naked like on the ground or after a jump; nine times out of ten, you’re leaving yourself too vulnerable thanks to its heavy startup and low movement (the one tenth is when they’re being overly aggressive). But I prefer it on these setups:

  1. Super-jump into the air, dive with j.s to the ground and do the scythe during that. This eliminates most of the window of vulnerability, leaving you leeway to block and move around.

  2. Cancel a j.H into scythe. j.H is actually a great tool for warding off enemies on the same aerial level, and cancelling into the scythe gives you the time to do a small combo. That combo turns into a not-so-small one if you do it in the corner. j.H -> Scythe -> neutral jump -> j.M -> j.H -> Axe -> Launcher -> your typical air combo from there.

Technically, you can cancel into Golden Armour on the ground, which should give some options. I’ve just not practised with them.

Just a quick check for everyone. How many of us knew that Arthur’s ground daggers and lances, after the first one is thrown, can be team-hyper cancelled?

Not me. This sure does make confirming from Daggers a lot easier. I do know that you can link a THC after a Goddess Bracelet though.

I believe I might be able to break that with 1 bar. Or at least 1mil. This combo is one hell of a bitch at first though (it’s friggin long, especially for an ARTHUR combo), but easy after you get it down. Still trying to maximize the damage, I’m not even halfway through and I’m at 7-800k.
