You lack discipline oh foreign knight! The Arthur Thread

Hey, have you guys seen the end of the combo video oin the front page with v.joe, rr, and arthur? There is a small loop with his j.S and canceling his crossbow, I can’t quite see all of it because my computer glitches. Can anyone watch it (the last 15 seconds of or so of the video) and post up the notation?

I remember messing around with something familiar to combo off peekaboo assist, I believe it involves sj. HS xx crossbow. Looking at the video atm
Yep it’s looping sj. HS xx crossbow. If you did normal jump instead the S would bring you too close to the ground too soon to cancel into crossbow. Also that xfactor solo otg loop with j.S xx dagger is pretty spiffy, I guess it solves anchor Arthur’s problem of not being able to combo after throw. Good stuff~

Thanks for checking that out for me
And yes, I agree now that arthur is finding more and more viability in the game.

(silver armor, corner) aircombo into sj.S finisher, land, OTG j.S+ VJ uppercut assist, sj.H-S-crossbow, land, sj.H-S-crossbow land, sj.H-S.

Unfortunately, for this combo to work, you have to get them at approximately launch height without using a launcher (or sj.S will knockdown). That puts a rather serious limitation on the global practicality of it.

The other combos are XF gold heavenly slash infinite and an interesting one:

(XF, gold) launch, sj.S, land, [OTG j.S-dagger x1, land, launch, sj.S] repeatedly

That latter combo has some tech that could be a gamebreaker for me.

The last combo you posted was really glitchy for me so I can’t wait to bust it out in training mode tomorrow after work. XF all put aside it looked cool.

Heading off to a Tournament, time to put my Hawkeye/Arthur/Doom zoning team to the test.

Fear not! I’m coming princess!!

Good luck!

Good luck!

I placed 3rd in the tournament, beating 3 players, but then also lost twice after. Not bad i guess.

First guy i was doing great against, almost destroyed his first two characters without incident, then he brought out a mean super skrull and teleporters are the Zoners worst enemy. Especially skrull who can always coming crashing down on top of you whenever he wants.

Second guy, i was doing well against until he brought out Frank west and proceeded to do the same crap all Frank players do. Which i saw coming…but it still worked i’m sorry to say.

My only lasting regret is I did not represent Arthur well at all. For the last couple of weeks i’ve been playing Hawkeye on point instead of arthur, in order force myself to get better with him and i have. In the first matches everybody was wowed by my Ironclad Hawkeye zoning and i thought to myself, “wait till they see my arthur, mwhahahaha”.

Nope, those times i lost after hawkeye finally died, they were still in my face and on a roll and i choked. The skrull player got a 2 for 1 on my assist with his inferno spam also, so it was just Arthur by himself.

Overall, only thing i would have done differently is play him on point. My hawkeye is decent but Arthur is who i’ve spent the most time with.

FC released a video of some of Arthur and RR’s hitbox data. They kinda leave some stuff out but its better then nothing I suppose.

This guy really has talent to leave out every hitbox I want to see for every character…

he made a Firebrand video without Air Bon Voyage and the unblockable…
and now an Arthur vid without Heavenly Slash and the level 3 hyper…

So how good is Arthur’s shield? Its one of those moves i just completely forgot about. There are plenty of times someone was wailing on me and i just push-blocked to get them off me. Thinking back now, perhaps i could be using shield to counter instead when characters get close.

Seems like a good idea. Whenever opponents finally close the distance on my arthur they’re pretty rabid, seems like most would run right into it.

Anyone?

I use Arthur’s shield a lot. Its great on wakeup or after a blocked GB or Armor on at close range. Its great to see people’s reaction once you land it, I caught Masta CJ with it once lol.

It’s not good…
totally situational.

It’s awesome when you see an xfactor guard cancel coming or to get past beam or purification spam

as it does not counters aerial attacks, you’ll be very vulnerable while trying to do it.
There’s very little Shield can do that Heavenly slash wouldn’t just do better.

What are the limits besides over head attacks? Can it block against beam supers with no damage?

What is heavenly slash? And why is it good? I never utilize either of those two sword attacks he has.

spit take

You dont know what Heavenly Slash(DP+M) is? Its his 4 frame startup(?) invincible DP move that goes through everything.

Shield Counter doesnt nullify any hyper projectiles, itll lose every time.

Interesting, I’ll have to look at it more. Any gameplay examples that it works great for? Sounds like it would be good for stopping bionic arm.

it does stop bionic arm and anything below 14 active frame (it’s invincible from frame 1 to 14)…
it cuts through Gimlet, Bionic Arm and most supers at point blank.
Hell, it can punish Shinkuu Hadouken if you’re close enough.

If it could cancel Arthur’s projectiles, this would be Arthur’s version of Vanilla Dante’s Hammer… lol.

Heavenly slash is awesome, you can get happy birthdays quite often with it, just remember to cancel it into a hyper every time it doesn’t connect because it’s hella unsafe on block.

some of the main uses imo:

  1. spam it when people are rushing you
  2. use it after an xfactor guard cancel before activating for the princess for the kill.
  3. punish anything at point blank
  4. loop to kill anything during golden armour xfactor
  5. punish jump back happy opponents during dark arthur time.

Nice job in your tourney.

And shame on you for not utilizing that amazing HS sword option.

Since i pay Arthur(& Hawkeye) on point, often the toughest part of every match for me is just the beginning. Once they see what character i have they immediately begin walking towards me before the start of the match to close the distance early, and its like a Russian roulette crapshoot as to what they’ll try and if i’ll be able to avoid it. Plenty of characters seem to be able to do big damage at the start if they score a throw.

Any tips?

So far i’ve learned to jump and try to airthrow. As sometimes they’ll “anticipate” that i’ll try to jump over them to get away, and go for an airthrow. So if i do the same i can unexpectedly throw them instead or counter/breakaway theirs.

Would heavenly slash be good to defend whatever they’ll try?
