Shield deflect can neutralize any projectile even Plasma beam, so if Arthur can’t win in the ground neither can Doom.
Double jump + two lances/axe/crossbow can beat anything Doom try to do in the air.
If Doom goes for rushdown, Arthur has heavenly slash and shield deflect for personal defense.
Arthur can beat the finger lasers hyper with goddess bracelet on reaction from fullscreen distance.
In my opinion the matchup with Doom is in Arthur favor (without the golden armor).
Well, in paper, sure, Arthur has all the tools to play this match, but no way he has the advantage.
If they spam Plasma beam and you avoid it with shield deflect you buy all the risk while doom sits on a very confortable zone.
If you mess up with the timing of the shield, you eat the beam… if they mess up with the timing of the beam, you eat the beam.
up close, Doom can footdive the hell out of Arthur and all Arthur can do is spam heavenly slashes that are hella unsafe unless you cancel it into super and meter is not a infinite resource.
Doom is not the worst matchup for Arthur, that would be Strange or Dormammu, imo, but Doom is a bad matchup that becomes a good matchup just by having Golden Armor activated, not impossible to win without it, but I cannot see it any way but a uphill battle where Arthur has to take a lot more risks than Doom.
Doom is an extremely good matchup for Arthur.
Let’s ignore gold armor because once you use that, Doom is quickly reduced to footdive-or-get-hit. If Doom does SJ photons, grounded crossbow will eat them and force Doom to block. Jump daggers stop all normal jump footdive approaches. SJ daggers clear photons off of the screen and force Doom to block. Jump back crossbow has the perfect angle to stuff grounded plasma beam attempts (eats grounded photons too, if they were thinking of being cute). Jump axe eats up photons and (if done at approximately normal jump height) represents a threat that grounded plasma can’t beat (Doom’s best hope is a trade), so free lances while it’s on screen. Bracelet counters grounded photon array on reaction, so random super is not an option for Doom, either.
This is all silver Arthur. Gold Arthur can shut Doom down with basically one move: crossbow. The rest is fun and games.
Oh, and up close, I like Arthur’s instant overhead over Doom’s footdive. Just saying.

Footdive is also very unsafe. Heavenly slash is the obvious counter, but up close Arthur can hitconfirm with j.H, axe toss, land, hellbound slash, etc. I dont see Doom as a threat for Arthur. Characters that are bad matchups for Arthur are, Amaterasu (worst matchup imo), Strange, Vergil, Dormammu, and even so Arthur can beat them if he is played right.
Cap is tough for me to deal with. I’ve gotten blown up a whole lot by him just from playing my regular Arthur game. What’s the trick to beating him? Just wait until he makes a move? Do projectiles only when he’s in the air/after he’s done something which he can’t cancel into Hyper Charging Star? I’d stop him with heavenly slash if only I could cancel into it with my lances. D:
The key things to take away are 1) air S cancel into weapon toss to reduce his window to hit you in the air (watch for random HCS) and 2) stick to grounded weapon toss when he is outside of CS range.

It does about 600-700k with one bar mid screen depending on your mashing.
My on-point Arthur game has leveled up again. Now all i use are Daggers, lances, and Fire bottles.
When some distance is gained between the opponent, i just keep jumping and DaggersX3 plus projectile assist. Works awesome for keep away. They can’t jump up because daggers are always flying at them, and my Projectile assist is hitting them on the ground for lockdown. If they do try to jump out usually they’ll run into something. So daggers are great in the air for keepaway and to knock back an advancing opponent.
Previously thought that Axes were good for this purpose and i suppose they are technically, but only one can be thrown out at a time and they fly a bit slow. A decent opponent intent on getting in close will be able to avoid them usually.
When grounded i always use Lances. Great for projectile battles and i’ve gotten good at reacting to when the first lances hits, to super into goddess bracelet.
Fire bottles are same usuage. Good for covering the ground when up against opponents trying to run/dash in, like Capt & wolvie, and for superjumping near the opponent to cover ground and mindgames(and of course OTGs into goddess braclet).
My Arthur keep away is solid. Now if only i could find two more characters to back him well + add to my keep away game. Dr. Strange’s Bolts assist is awesome, but outside of that he has low stamina and i just suck with him. Hawkeye looks cool but is weird to play. If only i could pick three Arthur’s lol.
Does anybody have the notation for this combo? Also, would someone mind telling me how to do the heavenly slash loop?
For the Heavenly Slash loop your Arthur should be in gold armor and XF. Spam the HS until the other character is dead, the combo can go up to 3.600.000 -.-
What about Doom? I can definitely see missiles/beam being a great assist for Arthur. Also Hawkeye is pretty easy to learn imo. His combos are kind of weird and his variety of arrows take some getting used to, but you can get past all that fairly quickly.

Rikir beat a punch of people on stream using Tron/Dante/Arthur, including Winrich in a FT5. I’d say the stream loved him more for his impressive Tron display than anything.
To be honest, Arthur didn’t really get to shine all that much in his matches. He went for the Heavenly Slash infinite once, but beyond that it was definitely the Tron show. Amazing combos, excellent approaching and setups. Rikir definitely showed that the character still has some juice. Highly impressive.
Yea what Phase 3 said. He also beat omg itz fraudulence, but that doesn’t mean much I guess lol. He plays a smart Arthur & made a couple Arthur comebacks, but I gotta say, I was really impressed by his Tron. The stream monsters definitely know Rikir by name now lol especially after that epic last second tron level 3 grab to win it …
