For J.S use you can do a buncha things. Basically you can use J.S as a pseudo tri jump. So holding 7 or 9 + S can act as quick way to get some distance away or toward. J.S also OTGs now so you can use it to combo after an Air Throw (assist needed to continue rest of combo). Any old uses still pretty much apply here in Ultimate.
The Scythe… cant really say much. All I know is that they fixed it so that the Scythe never hits opponents away from Arthur and always toward.
Check out the Combo Thread, I posted some videos of old Arthur BnBs with some of the new things you can do. For the timing for the basic firebottle relaunch I would say to delay the S as much as possible, I personally dont like this combo since its still pretty easy to miss the Scythe. Axe relaunches are pretty much the same as theyve always been, you either got the timing or you dont.
Thanks for the tip. I don’t think Golden axes can be negated so this is pretty useful. Also good for covering things before tagging in another character before the armor breaks so one an make the most out of it with an assist.
I’ve stopped relying on Golden Armor so much now in case they’ll want to punish. This made me kinda look at Arthur’s regular arsenal more, and i’ve since gained a new appreciation for Reg Axes. At first they seem slow & not ideal for a such a fast paced game, but from the opponents perspective the space they can occupy is daunting as long as they’re out. Axes rock.
Like to throw axes in the air, and then cover on the ground with lances + projectile assist.In the past i also saved all my meter for armoring up even after OTGs, which was a mistake. In a game like this you need all the damage one can get. Even OTG is ended with goddness bracelet now.
Also Jumping S air combos which end with both characters in the corner is pretty common for me. With Gold armor the flame bottle is thrown out TOO fas and can’t OTG. With reg armor i can OTG into and air combo and then OTG again into goddess bracelet.
I’ll still use Golden Armor but am a lot more selective about when and don’t just Equip it whenever possible. Although the reality is that since Arthur is widely regarded to suck, few use him, and so many are inexperienced fighting him and won’t think to capitalize on his character specific weaknesses.
If during the match i get the “impression” that my opponent has not faced many Arthur’s AND i’m in a position where i can easily punish with King’s Armor, i’ll activate it and use it to its fullest. But before the armor breaks i’ll throw out a Golden axe and then tag into my other character for its assist.
All of this musing of coarse is regarding online ranked gameplay. Not the tournament atmosphere.
Whoa can you explain that in detail? And is that corner or normal screen distance?
And i’m learning reg fire bottle use in the air is deceptively effective. Just won a handful of ranked matches against wesker players who i have the most trouble with. Since i can’t stay in one spot due to teleport crap, and for mindghames, i jump around a lot and throw fire bottles plus Jumping S. As i can hear theme constantly trying to warp around below to catch me when i land, If Jumping S lands i can launch + OTG into goddess bracelet, or if blocked Fire bottle will back me up.
Since they’re frantically trying to intercept me upon landing the flames will are a good mixup and will hit often it seems. Also for some reason fire bottle ends up hitting those who are jumping up to meet me.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but did Arthur’s XF3 speed buff get nerfed in the H&H patch? I swear I can’t throw gold lances/arrows as fast as I used to. I might test this later. Anyone else feel this?
Too bad we have to wait until March to get that alt costume. Seriously, why did they had to delay the whole pack to March? I was looking forward for that alt :(.
Hmmmm…I didn’t realize the Golden Armor was so contraversial. The hitstun on his GA projectiles is huge, and Level 3 XF GA arthur can time lances in such a way that on block, it locks the other character down and is a guaranteed chip out kill. It does suck when it disappears but you can just throw his regular armor back on. I guess I tend to always think of GA combined with XF where it seems like for the two bars it takes to activate it and put your armor back on, the enhanced hitstun and massive damage seems worth it. I’ve been throwing his GA on him and using the enhanced assist until he is my last character.
I’m not that great at UMvC yet though so maybe I need to re-evaluate the whole thing.
Got raped while playing arthur. Projectiles aren’t safe with teleporters, characters with fast normal eat you alive, and people tend to lame you out while in GA, depressing.
