You lack discipline oh foreign knight! The Arthur Thread

Hulk gets no speed boost from X-Factor.

ok thanks for the input… Yes, I’m using the team that exact order
I’ll be doing some experiment too… but I am not really a good fighting game player anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

I was trying the sj.FireBottle strategy online, and it trolls so many people! I run Wolv/Haggar/Arthur in that order.

I kind of want to see how others play Arthur, but usually Wolvy/Arthur combo is enough to to take out most players. The good players that make it to my Arthur gets troll by sj.Bottle!

What can you do against this?

I play on PSN: slammage1786

Getting back into using Arthur now… was using Hulk/Haggar/Arthur.

But I suck horribly with Hulk lately for some reason, so now I think I’m gonna go with Spencer/Haggar/Arthur. Dagger assist and Spencer’s Wire Grapple ability can cause confusion to anyone who may not know which way to block.

I suck with Spencer too, but hopefully I’ll get better with him, he’s really fun to use with Arthur.

I can’t imagine how annoying Wolverine online is. He’s already hard enough to block offline.

Although that’s why I run Haggar on point with projectile assists!

Also my Ryu would troll sj. Bottle so hard. =P

I run Haggar (Pipe)/Ryu (Hadoken)/Arthur (Daggers). Haggar is the battery. Ryu is the meter burning big gun of the team. Arthur is the projectile assist/anchor. Usually my team falls apart if Ryu gets killed early since my main strategy is threatening to blow you up with Shinku Hadoken and using that to scare you into playing my game or to ideally get rid of any dumb assist that I don’t want alive. I can lame out most projectile wars with either Ryu or Arthur on point. Haggar I mainly have for building meter, though in some matchups like X-23 and Wolverine I find him useful there.

This seems like a nice team that has a good counter for a lot of the craziness in this game, may have to try it myself sometime lol. Don’t know why people say Ryu isn’t good, good damage and an aimable beam hyper is never bad imo. How do you find using pipe assist over lariat?

sad time for arthur users 2 tournaments and not a single arthur :frowning:

sadly that’s how it always is’ nobody plays arthur at tournaments they write him off as low tier garbage

Well he just takes to much practice to be such a situation-based char. Replace him with Pheonix or MODOK and you get the same rank projectile zoning but with more mobility and full screen level 1’s.

lance charge has opened up so many combos for me its insane. Arthur rushdown is possible and effective

I haven’t had alot of time to practice but tell me what you guys currently think of my new team idea.

Trish(peekaboo), She-Hulk(torpedo), Arthur(Daggers). My idea behind this team is a really strange chip/lockdown with trish’s traps, Sparda, Arthur’s assist along with regular melee blockstrings in addition to unblockable setups via Torpedo assist and dive kick.

When trish dies, She Hulk comes out and having Arthur’s Daggers aids her getting in.

And when Arthur comes in, he should have enough meter to be a serious threat with XF3 and Armor
I haven’t really played this game in a while BUT it makes a little sense on paper. Hopefully I can get the chance to play soon.

My regular team is Arthur(daggers), Shehulk(torpedo) and Tron(Gustaff Flame). It’s probably the team that makes the most sense to me right now aside from Arthur not having a projectile assist that covers his blind spots

Also, is it just me or does Arthur have the best lvl3 in the game?

I actually just figured out something potentinally broken about arthurs level 3. What you need is arthur + either c.viper or taskmaster, 3 bars and x factor.

As an example lets say the team is taskmaster/c.viper/arthur. Kill the opponents first character and switch to arthur and have 3 bars. Let them come to you and call their assist use level 3 hyper. Now here is the broken part if they blocked then as soon as the attack comes out x factor and change to either c.viper or taskmaster. C.viper first dash foward hold down :h: and :s: for the full duration so that it is unblockable, proceed to x factor combo. As taskmaster use his sword master :h: unblockable series.

What you have here is a guarantee kill on the point and very few characters in the game will survive the level 3 as an assist and of the assists with that much hp are not really get in assists. Even xfactor is useless against this, the only thing is they have to be close to you but since it is 100% invincible it does not really matter

^^That’s sick, I’ll see if I can work Tasky or C.Viper into my Arthur team for that.

The easier character to get it to work for is taskmaster, although I am unsure of how his unblockable combo actually works where you can combo after it or not. Viper On the other hand takes 77 frames to get the unblockable so you might have to throw out arthurs assist some point during the level 3 to increase the blockstun enough to allow the hit or be close to frame perfect have to test that more throughly but don’t have a second person to help me test it out.

Ok so for taskmasters unblockable heavy combo the last hit does an unrecoverable knockdown so either an otg assist to pick them back up or jump heavy arrows then hyper arrows will work but don’t know damage, just looking at the information from the book.

Just thought of something but can’t confirm atm. you will probably want 4 bars in case they have they have a invincible hyper that they can x factor into. Im not sure if during save the princess even if they xfactor they are able to get a hyper in time before getting hit again. In which case c.viper has 36 invincibility frames 1 meter hyper which will beat everything but raging demon i believe from akuma and taskmaster has his counter hyper

i have returned! seems i can’t leave arthur behind

welcome back, he’s addicting isn’t he?

indeed but sadly he doesn’t provide much for my main team(in sig)

I’ve been looking up stats and reading stuff and ive got to say Arthur is the Answer to Phoenix point blank period. He has every thing to counter her from the screen flooding with projectiles to their being only one way in on him for her. Dark Phoenix CANNOT throw balls on screen his “Save the Princess” lvl 3 does exactly 400,000 which if I’m not mistaken IS Phoenix’s health. Enhance that shit to lvl 3xf PLUS it’s full screen EQUALING the bitch dies. FULL screen not like Okami Shuffle only hitting whats ON screen, FULL screen, so let DP fly up there chunking balls, Fuck snapping her in let her get her 5 meters AND kill her. His Gold Armor lasts 20 seconds hmmm XF3 lasts 20 seconds, hes small as hell to hit so she can only overhead him and you can see it. He also has that counter stagger shield thing. The whole reason he jumps the way he does is so he can CHICKEN BLOCK longer than most characters.

Capcom knows what their doing they wouldnt make a bullshit character without legitimate ways to beat them, unless its a boss or something, but thats why their called a boss, they are meant to be harder to deal with than every other character.

Your answers to Phoenix/ Dark Phoenix are:

  1. Get the snap in kill before she reaches 5 bars, since EVERYONE in the game can kill her with 1 combo + hyper meter.
  2. Run the time out, with you having more health.
  3. Counterpick the Phoenix team with Arthur.

Arthur is the ANSWER, fuck Phoenix. Everything about him counter’s her. Sit back in whatever corner and activate SHIELD DEFLECT and SHE CANNOT HARM HIM PERIOD! His Shield Deflect Counter’s Mid and Low attacks, AND DESTROYS NON-Hyper PROJECTILES. She can then only attack from above and you will be able to see that.

I cant believe people haven’t thought of this yet, or atleast utilized it.

Edit: Wow I was dead tired when I wrote this and good lawd I had some grammar slip ups lol. Fixed, aswell as added Phoenix answers.

Arthur definitely does not need ANY changing. He’s a powerful anchor and an awesome assist. In my opinion, Arthur has no business being on point (for that long). The risks heavily outweigh the rewards, no matter what assists you have. He is most productive supporting the team and holding it down. Basically, if you outplay your opponent, but your first 2 characters die due to X-Factor, Arthur is the “trump card”. You chip them out or you super-jump into their face and do instant overhead mix-ups.

For example, in a tournament setting, the most common characters that are a problem to Arthur on point are Wolverine, Wesker, Magneto, Zero, and Phoenix. The odds of you keeping them out forever are a lot lower than them hitting you with a single combo and killing you. However, the Dagger assist just happens to be extremely effective in keeping Wolverine and Wesker out and gaining the upper hand in the projectile war against Magneto.

Also, as Klique says, Arthur is extremely effective against Phoenix. It is imperative that you find a good Phoenix player (one that utilizes teleports well) and play as much as you can with them. It is also helpful if you play Phoenix yourself, just to see what she’s capable of. Playing her for only 3 days has made me understand a ton of things I didn’t know about her before. She isn’t THAT scary.

tl;dr

  1. Arthur doesn’t need fixes.
  2. Arthur is a wonderful assist/anchor.
  3. Arthur isn’t good on point. (IMO)
  4. Arthur has a pretty good match-up against Phoenix.

Thank you.
