WNF 1.3 is the third session of the first season.
it’s just people have been given this idea that if you use someone like arthur whose purpose is to run away and throw crap on the screen
that your a loser of a player and nothing but a coward
If only word spread that arthur can beat every other projectile based gameplay given the right amount of space between you and the opponent.
Dormammu?
the 2 things dormmamu has on us I believe is his teleport and chaotic flame, otherwise all his projectiles take too long to come out, according to the guide dark hole takes 26 frames to start and purifacation takes 32 frames, our daggers come out in 10 frames, lances come out in 13 frames so even at full screen with the computer contantly using his projectiles as long as we hit him once then he has to block the next ones always. Basically when he goes on the defensive get ready for a teleport or a chaotic flame, otherwise use daggers/lances. It is basically a battle of who has more meter that will win the fight
Have not tested this yet but golden armor super jumped crossbows will probably get him hit out of chatoic flame.
edit: forgot to mention about his charge up specials, the only one that is dangerous to us would probably be level 3 fires, don’t have much advice for that because I have not seen anyone been able to get 3 of them against me, so still a work in progress but its a good start that has let me beat all the dormammu’s barring any failed blocks after a teleport.
the problem is that nobody wants to play keep away
i play keep away with arthur, i even got my first rage quit because of him much love watch for arhtur at evo
I like that we’re basically getting one arthur player every WNF. Not too little exposure (like Hsien-Ko or VJoe), not too much. Politix got pretty far with him too.
Sorry I didn’t get any further guys, I threw away the match one too many times (especially against Duey). I may be switching my team to Deadpool/Arthur/Trish by the next WNF, we’ll see how that goes!
How’s Arthur / Ammy / Doom sound?
Arthur / Trish / Doom maybe?
:looney:
You have no idea how hype I was when you got the double kill with fire dragon and when it got down to Arthur vs Magneto at the end. I gotta admit, I started punching shit once you lost, but you did really good. :pleased: Better luck next time I guess!
Have you considered throwing out golden axes in conjunction with homing crossbow? It just seems like a good option to me, since the trajectory it covers is basically the tri-jump height, but I’m not experienced so I wouldn’t know if it’s worth it.
Realpolitix, use more bottle. Especially in gold armor. Once people start moving in vs. gold crossbow it’s good to use since it hits very close in front and below Arthur and pushes them back so you can start crossbow/axe/lance again. IMO the only time you should throw out multiple crossbows is if they’re staying far away and jumping or superjumping above you.
Otherwise good shit, lv3 win was too good, you were surrounded I saw the super flash and was like “oh shit fire dragon son!”
I played a set today where someone was able to completely negate the chip from XF3 Gold Lances by pushblocking each one. Not sure if it was just the game being buggy like it always is, or if that’s just something that can be done against the XF3 Gold Lance lockdown cheese.
@zangief2000 Yeah, the crowd reaction was great, but from what I hear, the stream reaction was better! That, and UltraDavid gives the awesomest biased commentary.
@Crono_SteelShade Appreciate the hype, in any game it’s my goal to put on a show! I’ll definitely look into using Golden Axes, as well as other methods of keeping tri-jumpers out.
@Brahma Definitely going to add Fire Bottles in my game. For some reason, it was the attack I used the least. And when I hit that Fire Dragon and I saw two characters, I knew he was fucked, LOL.
@Sleazoid The people I play with tend to do this too. If you delay your Lances just a bit, however, the chip shouldn’t be negated.
@Master Chibi Both teams sound good as zoning teams, but they seem to lack in damaging DHC’s. Whatever suits your style!
I don’t care about damage.
I just want to be annoying.
:looney:
yeah, great job real politix! after seeing your video last night, my ass decided to pick up arthur and learn some tricks, haha.
^^ I would say Storm. She is good overall, can DHC glitch to both Arthur and Thor, gives the team a fast character, and DHCing into her is a piece of cake. I play Storm/Arthur/Dormammu and I think both daggers and bottle assist do pretty well to help her get in. They would probably be good for Thor also. One of the things you could do is DHC glitch to Arthur’s Golden Armor, do your favorite BnB that ends with a knockdown, and switch to Thor while the opponent is on the ground. That would safely get you pretty good damage, get Arthur’s assist upgraded, and put a heavy HP character in so Storm can regenerate health.
Of course, there are other characters to choose from so just experiment a bit.
Here are some random tips with Arthur:
vs. Akuma: st.M is the perfect punish for his air tatsu, it’ll absorb one hit and you can go into a full combo. With Akuma, stay on the ground if you have 3 meters. Without meter or being on the ground, you’re susceptible to get hit by a beam super.
vs. Ryu: If you already blocked 1 LP Hadouken, the other LP Hado will not give you significant time to Lance. Counter this by negating the 2nd Hadouken with st.M and cancelling to Axe, with Lances following afterward.
vs. Dark Phoenix: To counter her X-Factored state with 2 characters left, your best shot is to confirm a blockstring with your non-Arthur character and end it with a super that will keep her in block stun. Then DHC into Arthur, and with practice, chain all your Goddess Bracelet supers until you have one meter left. On the last meter, Gold Armor and X-Factor, and throw repeated Lances.
vs. Magneto: Remember that you can win any projectile war by blocking any Disruptor and throwing 2 Lances out of blockstun.
List of Strength of Knockback (w/o Golden Armor) From Strongest to Weakest:
2 Lances, 2 hits of Boomerang, fully blocked Fire Bottle, Axe, Daggers, and Crossbow.
^^ Good stuff. It seems like st. is also good against frying pans, but I don’t know if the risk of getting panned meets the reward of the counter combo. Something I’ve seen while playing around is that if you jump forwards while throwing a bottle, then joust as soon as you land, Arthur looks like the baddest motherfucker in history. I don’t know if the fire actually protects Arthur much, but it certainly looks good.
Thanks for the info Realpolitix.
Speaking of Sent–I seem to be having some problems with this match up. I’m fine if I can keep him at full screen but eventually he make it to half screen and I feel like there’s nothing I can do after that. Arthur’s zoning gets negated by Sent’s jumping normals since they all destroy/negate projectiles, so if I throw anything (besides Goddess Bracelet) then I end up eating a jumping H into combo which means ggpo to Arthur. Is my only option to use air to air attacks or maybe an air throw? Arthur jump is so floaty that I find it takes forever to meet Sent air to air, especially if Sent is using flight mode where he can zip around much faster. If I call assists then they are just as likely to eat a stomp combo (unless its Haggar lol). So any tips for this match once Sent gets close half screen?
I’m terrible paranoid of using standing M against his jump ins.
