You lack discipline oh foreign knight! The Arthur Thread

Can u guys clear this up for me plz bec i really dont understand wat u guys are talking about.
Does s.:m: block hits?
Are u guys talking about block strings and ending it with s.:m: then cancelling it with Hell slash?

If your opponent does a middle or high attack, you can use s.m and if their attack connects within the time that your attack is out, it will instantly block that attack as long as their attack hits your shield when that happens crono is saying to do hellslash when it is guarded

If you just want to be safe cancel the st. :m: into a projectile, but since not many people expect this autoblock business then might as well go for the good damage with hell slash.
I’m also looking into combos where you activate GA midway through, but currently the ones that I’ve found are very situational. Too bad, we can get such good damage off the air axe relaunch stuff :frowning:

Ok then situation where u press s.:m: is when now, bec i know we wont just spam it when they r attacking. So what after a push block in most cases against Arthur i know alot of players like to rush him down, is that the time to use it.
if thats the case then i would like to know something, if they attack and they miss just in front of u will the cancel hell slash after the s.:m: have priority an hit them?

Don’t take anything I say as final, I’m just throwing ideas out there. I don’t know what the best options are after s. :m:, Hell Slash just seems plausible to me. Also don’t think that s. :m: is the end-all anti-air, but it doesn’t look bad either. I’d say it looks useful for stopping fly mixups and the like, as there is enough time to react and call the s. :m: early enough to get the sweetspot. Mess with it a bit in training mode and see if you like the autoblock’s timing, if not just keep it safe and block instead.

Do you guys have any good videos channels or streams? I’m super frustrated at my lack-of-win rate. Maybe I’m just missing out on the essentials of this game. I know I advance guard a little too much, but I can’t seem to come up with appropriate punishes. Crouching light can connect if they’re close enough. But it’s not just with Arthur.

Didn’t mean to blather, but in short I could use some videos - not necessarily of pros or how to do a 100% combo, but just normal players. It really helped me get down Hakan back in SSFIV.

what assist benefits arthur the most?

Double Lariat(Haggar)
Gustaff Fire(Tron Bonne)
Shadow Blade(Morrigan)
Tatsumaki(Akuma)

Same here would love to see some vids.

But u really have to get down the essentials of the game first, more or less look for ur most priority move to punish with i use c.:m:, look for an opening when opponents are hitting u on block and don’t push block spam. Just block, it will give u alot of experience seeing that its one of if not the most important thing is this game for me, push block if u know wat ur going to do after and it should keep u safe or have priority over the opponents attack.

I run Chris/Arthur/Chun li and the assist i use goes with my play style so to me asking about the best assist will more or less let u play with someone u don’t want to, keep in mind that it can be a good thing for someone else as they can play anyone etc.
when Arthur is out i use Chun li for my assist (legs) most of the time the opponents like to rush down Arthur, i usually jump once doing j.:m:,:h:,:s: xx crossbow land s.:m:,s.:h:,f.:h:, its my go to approach in the air unless u play keep away which i dont but from far away i approach with crossbow then jump call chun li assist and do the above approach.

DHC Combo for my Team

1,115,900 Damage

After Storms DHC to Golden armor, I kept it pretty simple. I’ve been having issues with hit stun so please feel free to add to this in any way.

Also, is there a way to OTG to Goddess Bracelet in the corner without an OTG assist? With Golden Armor, fire bottle flys over the character.

If your in the corner for Arthur’s starting part, skip :qcb:m: :f::h:

honestly i feel like my team will never be completed
arthur needs a good get off me assist
but the team would be lacking speed
but if the team had some speed then it would be lacking a good assist for arthur
some could say use akuma(W/Tatsu)but it’s not as much of a get off me as lariat or gustaff fire

one guys suggestion was just to drop one of my zoning characters and make my team 2 rushdown with 1 zoning/keep away character but that’s just not my style

i don’t want to drop my whole team and change my play style

You could make a compromise and pick one zoning (Arthur), one rush down, and one jack of all trades type character with a good assist (Taskmaster, Trish, Dante, Magneto, Iron Man, Ect).

Me, I play Arthur with Firetorch/X-23 with Crescent Scythe/Taskmaster with Vertical Shot. The fire torch works great with X-23 and Taskmaster rush down, the Crescent Scythe is a decent get off me assist though it’s most certainly not top tier. And Vertical Shot denies the hell out of super jumps once you get it out, allowing you to focus on ground and chipping. Arthur is 90% zoning, X-23 is 90% rushdown, and Taskmaster can switch between rushdown and keepaway on a dime. Between these 3 characters I feel like I have the tools for most situations.

i know that but zoning has always been the key part of my teams in crossover games
(Used Saki omokane constantly in TVC and Ironman/Doom/Cable/capcom were my most used in MVC2)

I might steal some of your stuff since my team is Storm (typhoon) Arthur (daggers) Dorm (Purification)
In the corner as GA Arthur your best bet to get a bracelet off is to do the typical air series into :qcb: :m:, land, :dp: :m: xx Golden Bracelet.

That’s why I’d say use a jack of all trade in place of the second zoner. I’ve seen Taskmasters and Magnetos who went for some really heavy zoning based games with the right assist. And a jack of all trades would give your team more tools and adaptability, you’d be able to zone 2/3rds of the time but also rush down 2/3rds of the time if you really needed to. Also, there are very few zoners that I know of who have top tier get off me assists. Most of those are with the rushdown people. So I’d say the ideal team for arthur would be

Arthur/Rushdown with get off me assist/Zoner or jack of all trades with assist that aids zoning.

That way you’ll be equipped for any situation. I don’t think Arthur needs two zoning assists that badly, nor does he need two rush down assists. One of each should suffice.

so which sounds better then

Tron(gustaff fire)
Haggar(Double Lariat)
Shuma(Mystic Ray)
Akuma(Tatsu)

in the case of mystic ray i would use molecular shield instead of hidden missles

Mystic Ray is awesome but I’d use it as a zoning tool or to compliment rush down and not defensive. You’d have to find a zoning character with a good defensive assist if you wanted to maintain two zoning one rushdown team.

Tatsu would probably work as defense but the way I see it, that assist compliments rush down better what with epic priority and keeping them in block stun for all eternity. And You’ve already got Doom for the block stun.

Personally, if you were gonna do Doom with hidden missles, theoretically I’d go with Haggar since he really needs stuff to get in and Hidden Missle could lead to epic lockdown with him if you could get them in the corner with dat pipe. Tron is better for covering ground though I think. and seriously beware of people who ever epic slides or dash in’s like She hulk cause if you get hit by that and Haggar’s I frames wear off before they finish the ground chain, then you can wave good bye to both Arthur and Haggar, best bet would be to push block the initial hit on Haggar then then keep them in block stun with whatever you have once the I frames wear off, at least that’s what I see the Dormmamu/Haggar teams do.

Honestly though, you shouldn’t pick someone just because they have a god tier assist. Mediocre assist on a character you’re really good at > Epic assist on character you suck with. For the rushdown slot on your team I’d just pick whoever your best at who also happens to have a good dragon punch or whatever as an assist.

i seem to do better with haggar then tron(her assist has helped me out quite a few times though)
then again i might like him better because he reminds me of the characters i usually play in SSF4/BB(T.Hawk Zangief Iron Tager you get the drift)

also doesn’t help that tron’s hyper’s are extremely unsafe

okay seriously…Arthur is getting no love at tournaments
i thought this would end sometime but it seems like pro players just don’t wanna use the guy…

BTW after DHC glitch s. :h: xx Hell Slash, s :h:, :s:, air series xx :qcb: :m:, (land) :s:, air series seems to be the most damage we can get off in one combo without spending another meter.

It really is annoying that no pros use arthur. looking at frame-advantage.com where it has videos of a bunch of tournament matches from many different tournaments, the only time arthur was used was the very first wnf (assuming 1.3 is the first one, whatever the .3 means) and pre release. He really is not that bad that no one would be using him
