Care to elaborate? An effective debate is a collection of points and counterpoints etc. You are using what is called ad hominem. Essentially, attacking a person’s character when you cannot attack his or her logic. You’ll have to do better than that.

You are right in some ways, but it is also true that is is difficult to convey tone over the internet. You may see it as arrogance, I simply see it as telling the truth. You are targeting what I said, when the fact remains that the guy I initially responded to could have simply given the advice he was trying to give, rather than say that people will never get a good game on their dialup connections, and those that are computer literate don’t have that problem. I wanted him to know that what he was saying was a lie, as it has little to do with 3SOE’s terrible online experience. I would be the first person to accept constructive criticism, and am honestly not an arrogant person. Arrogance is a character flaw that I absolutely despise, second only to selfishness.

You have to understand that I have always had a leader mentality, I’m an introvert. So while friendship and all of that is a great thing, I can take it or leave it. It is a bonus, not a necessity. I don’t feel that anything I posted should have been seen as uncivil or deserving of degradation.

I’ve just never been the type to accept any ol’ behavior from just anyone (if it is directed towards me), and I kowtow to no one. I return whatever is directed towards me, if it is negativity that is what I will return. If it is positivity, that is also what I will return. However, I’m not trying to take how I feel out on others, so I apologize for that, to ESN especially as he is a good guy for the most part.

Fair enough, that’s true.

I suppose there is also a language barrier in my case (I’m Dutch). This isn’t the first time I fail (and misinterpretate) at recognizing certain emotions conveyed in English since it is hugely different from the way it is conveyed in Dutch.

I disagree. Elena, Gouki and especially 12 are much harder to win with at scrub level (as you put it). Both Gouki and 12 require above average execution and matchup knowledge, and neither can take much punishment as they have the lowest defense in the game. To be capable with 12 also requires a large understanding of that character and how he should be played. As for Elena, many of her moves must be cherry picked, as throwing out the wrong move is simply parry bait that can lead to a large punish, she also has below average defense. If you take parrying out of the picture, most of her moves still have a good bit of recovery. All of these things are the enemy of someone that is truly as new as you would say.

Chun on the other hand can be played pretty well simply by knowing which normals to prioritize. All other things equal, she is the least technical fighter in this game in regards to developing a winning strategy.

How is it that the online environment is less beneficial to Chun than it is to those 3 that you listed?

You’re looking into this way harder than you should be.

He’s saying that shitty Chun players are easier to beat than shitty Elena/Gouki/12 players, especially online. He’s not saying Elena/Gouki/12 are “harder”, he’s just saying scrubby Chun players just suck that much.

Seriously, stop overthinking. That’s also one of the worst things you can do in fighting games.
