As ridiculous as this movement is, I’m not really at all surprised by this.
In this country, the will to just do good is not something instilled into us as a society.
What is it instead? **Fear. **Fear of not doing what you’re told, the fear of losing your possessions, the fear of having to pay money to the government for basically nothing. We are a nation that uses fear as a tool of making us do “what we’re supposed to do” through the fear of getting our rights taken away. Whereas in some other countries (and probably most), the inclination to just do what the fuck you’re supposed to do is a value that is practiced rather than forced upon you by how the law is set up.
Think about it. Why do people choose not to speed? Because they don’t want to possibly endanger other people?
No, because they **fear **being apprehended by the law and being given a ticket.
Why do people choose not to steal from a store? Because they don’t want to financially dent the establishment in which they’re taking from?
No, because they** fear **the consequences of being caught.
We as an american society are not expected to do as we are told right from the start, and our government knows this. Therefore they will go to whatever lengths they please (which usually includes invading our privacy and “constitutional rights”) to keep us in check. So yeah, I’m not really surprised by this movement at all. It’s just as ridiculous as the full-body scanners they used to implement in airports (which basically showed guards your entire naked body), or SOPA, or that one law that they’re actually talking about passing right now which allows your basic rights to be stripped away under “reasonable suspicion” for being an illegal immigrant. It’s all just fucking ridiculous.
And before anyone jumps on my grill, no,I don’t think it’s ridiculous that we have laws in general. Obviously we need laws or else it’d just be chaos. But you can’t argue that we don’t break these very same laws due to the fear of their persecution, rather than the moral bearing of breaking them.
it sounds like you’re talking out of your ass. how can you assume to know the differences in motivations between americans and people living in other countries?
It’s just my opinion based on my surroundings and how things work, combined with what cultural differences I’ve learned about between this country and most others.
I figured the “two cents” comment at the end would have been enough of a disclaimer to let everyone know that it was merely *my *opinion. o_O
If you don’t want to be treated like a criminal, you should stop acting like criminals… With your rap music and baggy jeans…
I for one salute the oppressors.
Yes but we can openly protest these thinggs out here. That girl who looked at the motorcycle couldn’t protest getting acid in the face and beaten to death. Like women in other places can’t protest their rights for fear of being killed.
Come on now you can pick better examples when trying to shit on america
This is ridiculous. That’s some serious Big Brother shit right there.
Frankly, I’m surprised there weren’t more students who opposed the policy. I’m pretty sure if they tried that shit at my old high school the students would be practically up in arms about it.
