You Can't Escape - The Alex Thread

Yes UAS Alex is too good. There are so many ways to setup Hyperbomb now:
A on hit AND block
B on hit AND block (1-2 frame delay)
C on hit AND block (3 frame delay)
3C on block (2-3 frame delay)
deep 2C on block (3-4 frame delay)
j.A on hit AND block
j.B on hit AND block (delay necessary if too deep)
j.C on hit AND block (must BBQ)
Air Stampede on block (1-2 frame delay)
Flash Chop on hit AND block (1-2 frame delay)
Slash Elbow on hit AND block (1-2 frame delay)
Headbutt throw in corner guaranteed (2-3 frame delay)
Headbutt throw from ANYWHERE GUARANTEED (confirmed but it’s VERY hard to time AND you must walk forward a little bit)
Roll behind opponent after snapback (not guaranteed)

And one good air rave command throw combo builds SO much meter it’s ridiculous.

I beat down nooblets so fast with Alex that I feel bad afterwards. Unless they’re using Zero and Tekkaman Blade. Then they deserve every Hyperbomb I lay on them.

OK here’s my list of combos I’ve come up with using Polimar as team mate

Mid Screen:

{2a, 2b, 236b, BBQ} 2a, 2b xx 236b, p, 236[c] = 18bn {22bn}

{2a, 2b, 236b, BBQ} 2a, 2b xx 236b xx 236ab xx 12369874ab = 23.5bn {28bn}

{2a, 2b, 236b, BBQ} 2a, 2b xx 236b xx 236ab, p, Air Stampede on second run of drill = 32bn {35bn}

{2a, 2b xx a elbow, BBQ} 2a, 2b, 2c xx b elbow, p, 236[c] OR 3c, j.a, j.a, j.b, j.b, 63214c = 20bn {23-24bn}

Linking the b elbow’s with the assist is somewhat strict, you want to hit it around the same time you start the elbow. It can connect late and leave you out of range for a 236[c], but you can still get the launcher combo off that. They do pretty much the same damage anyway. You can also try and time the 236[c] slightly late into a reset, which does around 17.3 bn on it’s own. Either of the basic baroque openers can be swapped around.

Corner:

{2a, 2a, 2b, 2c xx b elbow, BBQ} 2a (1-3), 2b, 2c xx c elbow, tiny step back, 5a, 5b, 2b, p, 2c, c elbow, 5c, 3c, j.a, j.a, j.b, j.b, 63214c = 25-27 bn {??? bn}

{2a, 2b xx a elbow, BBQ} 2a, 2a, 2b, 2c xx b elbow xx 236ab, p, 236[c] = 32-33bn {35-36bn}

So yeah, thanks to the new Slash Elbow properties, you can do some ridiculous corner shit. I don’t know what the baroque version of the first combo does because I suck too much to pull it off. I’m pretty certain it’s possible though. There’s also room for a lot of variations off the wall bounce, that’s just what I found worked best for me. Don’t try to 5c into 3c if they’re only just hanging off the ground from Polimar’s kicks.

The interesting thing with Polimar’s drill hyper assist when done off a b elbow in the corner, is how it will juggle the opponent right at eye level, allowing you to combo into a 236[c] (or even a launcher if you wanted). Alex may slide through to other side of the person when doing this though, so make sure you do the Flash Chop in proper direction. And again here, it’s possible to try and reset into the 236[c], which ends up doing some ridiculous range of 40-45bn depending on the combo. If someone finds a way to combo out of the wall bounce elbow into the Boomerang Raid, it gets even more painful, but I haven’t found a reliable way to do that yet.

Is J.C into Hyper Bomb a good way to get his Lv 3 or should I just get it off of block stun or something?

Even when comboed with J.C it still seems to do alot of damage.

Well it’s either do that or a basic launcher combo. The weird stagger status j.c infiiclts doesn’t leave you with a lot of options. I guess it depends if the extra 8 billion damage you get over the launcher combo is worth 3 bars.

Will the hyper bomb setups being discussed really work with advantage guard around?

Ahh good point…I suppose not huh? I guess that means Advance guard really puts a damper on pretty much ALL of my block setups and is something I’m bound to run into when I’m not fighting noobs online. Good thinking sir.

I usually just do it off j.C too, but sometimes during the j.C I will charge back then do A, A, 6A (for the non-knockdown flash) then do the Hyper Bomb right away.

The damage difference is minor but… it’s fun to do!

Can you cancel into an AB Stungun Headbutt to catch someone off AG? I know the range is right, not sure if it’s fast enough to catch them though.

Also I don’t think you should be doing that off of J. C, the first move you hit with sends them airborne off the stagger, so that slash elbow is not comboing if it’s leaving them on the ground (it doesn’t reset airborne characters to the ground) and they could be blocking it.

Wow alex is a beast…No mixup just raw power…If he lands a hit you can easy end up taking almost 45% if they don’t mega crush.

edit: i think he might end up top/high in the long run

i managed to DHC boomerang raid into polymar’s drill and make it combo

it was hard as all hell

what you have to do is DHC into the drill on the exact frame or so as the 4th hit of boomerang raid

the timing is really strict

if done correctly it will look like alex is just barely hitting them with the 4th hit

What are some of Alex’s BnB?

I want to know what ANYONES/EVERYONES take on Alex with Cash-Earned is. I’ve been looking to run the Alex/Casshern because Cassherns assist is HELLA incredible, and I love both of the characters. Either way, I’m going to use them, but does anyone have an opinion on how the team will work out?

Been playing Alex like crazy lately, fun as all hell and does some good damage.

Approaching while being safe is obviously the hardest thing to accomplish with him. But I’ve been having some pretty decent success with IAD j.B. If it connects you can go directly into j.C, or you can just drop into whatever ground combo without it. (I’ve also been able to cross up IAD j.B sometimes while staying on the same side)
If it’s blocked you can go into poke mixups, maybe a stomp or a grab/command grab. Or you could try for the hyper bomb. You can get in j.A j.A with an IAD instead of j.B, but honestly it gives you the sh*ttiest advantage. Hard to connect anything from it.

Been messing around with the setups, if you’re in deep enough, they’ll still work. Especially 3C.

Oh, and I’ve found a pretty cool trap with Roll. Basically, when you’re in close, hit assist, go in for the grab. Roll’s assist will go past the opponent while they’re being thrown and the water puddle will be on the floor right behind them. The opponent slides forward from Alex’s throw, if they don’t block low, you get a free launcher/elbow combo. They do block low, you get to go for an easy overhead C/j.C into whatever combo. Or you could just hyper bomb.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, you have to wait a bit after you hit the roll assist. If not the assist goes wonky and in the opposite direction

C-Powerbomb has the most range AND damage? or am I seeing things?

Been dicking around with Alex/Tekkaman team.

c.A, c.B, c.C, C Elbow, P, wait a second, launcher, a, b, c, Power Bomb is pretty great. I can get more damage using Keits’ a, b, b, wait, power bomb tactic for the air combo, but the timing on the launcher is a little stiff for it.

Not sure how viable this is, but just something to add to the mix.

nope, I’m seeing the same thing

Nope. All versions of Powerbomb do the same damage. There is more range the higher up it goes, though I assume it probably has a frame or two more startup. As far as I know you generally always want to use c-powerbomb for the range though.

Few combos I capped. No idea if the stuff is good or bad. Didn’t do any research on Alex before I went into training mode. Will work on some more stuff tomorrow.

Alex doesn’t really gain any massive game breaking combos from assists, because all his hyper moves require the opponent to be grounded, so they can’t be used with assist combos (other than those Roll trap shenanigans mentioned above). However his only damaging non corner combo without meter/assists/baroque is basically 2a,2b,3c or j.c, 3c, so at least Casshern is one of the assists he can do a 20bil+ midscreen b’n’b. Basic midscreen would be 2a, 5b, 2b, 2c, c elbow, p, j. c (whiffs), 3c, j.a, j.a, j.b, j.b, powerbomb. You need to call in Casshern’s assist late enough so it gets a few hits on the wallbounce, or it’ll just knock them out of Alex’s launcher range. Though with Casshern this does less damage then say, with Ryu, since you’re only getting partial damage on the assist. I’m sure there are some corner combos variants too, though I doubt anything as good as Polymar’s.

OH shit man, you can get his wallbounce without assist off a stungun doing j.b, 5.b, c elbow!? That’s pretty fucking awesome, I was hoping someone would find a way to do that.

Also j.b land j.a j.c? A way to hitconfirm j.c? Fucking awesome stuff.

Whoa, those are sweet. Amazing man!
