Nice match Mike. Think you need to punish harder. Coulda just been nerves (or lag) I guess, but punishing a crumple, a HP SRK and an EX SRK with a simple cr. HP xx CU won’t do. Tsk Tsk! -fixes his monocle and smokes his pipe-. Not saying go for the Momochi special each time, but even a st. HP > cr. MP xx HP CU would have finished round 1 without needing to waste that bar to chip him out with EX zonk.<div><br></div><div>A few risky LK Ruffians here and there, but meh, sometimes you just have to be random.<div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>P.S. I was recently destroyed by Yun player.
Never did learn how to play against him, to be honest.
Keep him away! Once he is in it’s super tough.
Also two things: 1) block those cross over shoulder dashes. 2) When he ends his blockstrings with shoulder you can either ultra or simply focus dash forward and punish him for it.
Yeah, you could Zonk him if he ends in shoulder too. I feel like that Yun only had cross-up shoulder in his arsenal. Things good in the match-up are stand jab, EX criminal upper when you think he’s going for command grabs or regular grabs. Don’t forget the unblockable on him in the corner. 4f safejumps when he has meter, 5f when he doesn’t. fake rocks and rocks at the right ranges are good at keeping him out.
Don’t get discouraged when getting blown up by Yun, it’s that kinda match-up. Yun’s low stamina vs Cody being so slow, someone will get blown up. I ran a few sets with Remybleu awhile back and it’s not that bad a match-up.

I also idolize John Choi’s fundamentals and was mindblown that i had to play him. 1:57:00 is my match against el cubano loco who sent me to losers. Of course, critique my play. my tourney nerves will wear off after a couple more offline seshes.
Damn, honestly I think you did great, you beat John Choi ffs lol. Watching the Vega match now but against Choi everything was pretty solid besides the missed comboes, your setups were nice, like the fake rock back dash to make him jump out of the corner, I really liked that. Don’t know what else to say I’m trying to get my Cody at that level heh. Are you going to NCR?

I actually don’t know him on a personal level which is weird because I used to see him alot at south town arcade over here in SF. Hopefully I meet him soon, me and him could do some damage if we trained with each other. I actually do know BJ over there in SoCal though, we’ve played abit. Do you attend WNF over there? I actually know more WNF players than I do players at Ex-factor lol.
Yea, I’ve been going to WNF more recently, don’t do too well but I still go.

I’ve not played this seriously for a long time but will attend an offline tourney in 3 weeks, so I figured I’d better start hammering the game now and try to get as good as I can. If you’d be willing to look at the video, you’d see that I have my work cut out for me- I’d appreciate any and all assistance.

@manicmike313 nice stuff. Definitely think Cody/Vega is slightly in Cody’s favor.
Just to give some critique. Rather than cross up j. MK > cr. LP > cr. LP > cr. MP/LK Finisher, you’d be better off going for j. MK > st. MP > cr. HP/cr. LK xx finisher. Both of those latter options do more damage (332/514 and 268/394 is much better than 240 or less dmg and less stun of course). Equally as easy to confirm IMO.
Also, end in LK Ruffian as opposed to MK Ruffian vs Vega. Just for spacing and the hard knockdown. I mean, obviously against someone like Gief you’d go MK Ruffian. It might have been the case that you opted for cr. LK xx MK Ruffian over cr. MP xx LK Ruffian because you had ex zonk loaded or wasn’t sure about the spacing. It’s something i need to get out of the habit of myself.
