hey guys i have a question. it seems whenever i try to get my opponent off me with b+mk xx yoga fire, the yoga fire does not come out especially in crucial moments. is anyone else having a problem with that? idk why, i can consistently do it in training mode but in te heat of the moment i screw up on the yoga fire. i’d like to use it more often. any tips?
Sim can’t do anything once he has attacked in the air until he lands.
Yoga fire question.
Sim n00b: it always feels slightly faster on recovery a f.yoga fire but event hubs data suggest all fires are -8. Is it just the speed of the fire that tricks my brain into thinking it has a faster recovery?
Yes.
Quick question really. What do you think Sim’s worst match up or match ups are?
Just kinda curious really because Im not too sure what they are.
Is the “negative edge” timming on SSFIV a bit different from Vanila SFIV?
I don’t know if it’s just me, but in SSFIV I get A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of yoga blasts while doing the BnB. When I play regular SFIV, I always do the jab yoga flame without a problem.
So it seems like i’m doing the medium yoga blast instead of jab yoga flame, after b.MK (like i’m “negative edgeing” the MK)
I don’t need to say how bad this is for Sim right?
I would love for every non EX yoga blast to be removed from the game.
But then how would you hk.blast >> super?!
LOL i actually really agree with this statement
im trying to take double tapping out of the BnB combo, think that should help
question here. what do i do against a rush down ken who uses f.mk -> cr.mk ->(ex) fireball? he does it a few times in a row to kind of push me to corner and what not. i usually just block but cant seem to get away or see an opening. if im fast enough and can see f.mk coming i’ll try teleporting. but if i tele back then he’ll hurricane kick and if i tele behind him and he’s anticipating it then he’ll just srk me.
im generally good at keeping him out and keeping my distance, but once he gets in or gets a knock down on me, i cant seem to do anything.
Yeah it annoys me too sometimes. I sometimes focus it if I can predict it. If you lvl two it, you can punish with Super/Ultra. That should slow them down a bit.
If you absorb the step kick with a focus, then backdash after absorbing the hit, you can avoid the crouching mk usually and avoid having the fireball link come out. It’s very useful on a lot of characters, especially if you’re in a position where you want to keep some distance with a normal, but can’t. Otherwise, just punish him if he’s not in range of hitting you.
When I watch vids of strong sims, I see an inside block string often of back LK back LK back MK or something like that to push folks back. I’m just wondering… is that safe? Or are guys like Arturo doing that because they know their opponents respect them enough not to try to pop a DP between them?
Honestly I really want to give Dhalsim a shot, but unlike in ST, I don’t feel too comfy fighting inside w/ him. Is that a reliable approach if the enemy makes it in but is outside throw range? Or do we just want to teleport away? Thanks!
It’s not safe, but something that is called a pseudo blockstring… I think it can be interupted!
The b.lk is -1 on block so, technically, alot of characters can even interrupt you with a 3 frame normal. That is, it’s not even a genuine frame trap. Oddly enough though, that doesn’t happen very often, so I think b.lk must have a nice hitbox.
Use it sparingly against anyone that mashes dp through blockstrings.
Then are there any good rules of thumb for when the opponent gets inside (besides ‘don’t let them get inside’)? I played a lot of ST sim and I’m good w/ the whole zoning/keepout game, but it’s inevitable they’ll find a way in some times, and that’s when my SF4 sim is left wondering what to do, aside going for throw. Or is it basically block ‘n’ pray?
Ye… block… Wait for the opponent to puch himself too far away, do a b.lk->b.mk->fire or something else to push him away. If you are not in the corner, you could do a back teleport, but that can be punnished. If you tech a throw, you are out and the same if you land one. I find myself predicting a throw attempt and doing yoga tower and then punnishing. That is also risky. If the opponent is really good at keeping you near him, block and pray as you say:P
LOL So much unnecessary damage.

Out of curiosity, is Dhalsim’s B.mk -> Yoga flame a 1 frame link (I don’t really know what BnB’s in this game are considered 1 frame except Fei Long Grapple into hp into rekka)?
How could it be a 1f link? The b.mk recovery gets canceled.
