I second that. Dude had Topher’s mannerisms and speech pattern down pat. The new tech in the ep and the Senator set up some really interesting stuff, and the preview for next week’s 2 hrs looks pretty dope.
Anybody know if we’ll be seeing more Summer Glau? It seems like they’re not done with her but I seem to recall reading somewhere that she’d only be in a few episodes.
I think the series finale is supposed to happen sometime in January.
semi-spoiler for finale
Spoiler
Series finale is going to be Epitaph Two, with more Felicia Day. I still haven’t seen Epitaph One, so I’ll be sure to check that out before they wrap up the series.
Throughout S1, I was pretty unenthusiastic about the show. It was just something to watch while eating, and only like 2-3 episodes were really outstanding. Then I watched Epitaph One and had my mind explodinated. It’s hands-down the best episode of S1.
I have to admit, I was with Topher on all the reasons Summer was looking good in those two episodes last night. Even with the dead arm in the cast thing.
One of the really disappointing things about Dollhouse getting can canceled is that Victor (Enver Gjokaj, and IMDB says he has a twin brother) won’t get to show case his talents in more roles.
I don’t even pay attention to this stuff and I noticed how insanely well he does it.
What really happened to Perrin…
[details=Spoiler]Basically, Summer aka Bennett, instead of a mind shut down, activated his sleeper agent killing spree mode, in order to kill echo. He felt such guilt about killing his bitch of a wife/handler that he didn’t run away with Echo in time to evade capture and thus was over programmed by Rossom to straight clear the companies name, screw over “November” and be a overly ambitious dick.
Also while Bennett aka Summer turned out to be an insane vengeance driven bitch, I’d still probably would have tried to holla if I was Topher after I knocked her the fuck out. [/details]
Honestly, I never liked Caroline because she seemed like such a douche hippy chick. So any reason they can create to make it not seem like a bad thing that the bitch personality stays gone, I am cool with. Shit even in the last season episode with Alpha, old girl in another chick’s body was annoying.
I think this issue is less with Caroline (although I admit she’s annoying), and more of an issue with Eliza Dushku in general. Although she’s admittedly hot (i.e. the callgirl persona with Perrin), her acting ability is just. . .somewhat poor.
Every time Dushku is in a different imprint, it feels like she’s struggling to pull it off. It’s a lot different than the guy that plays Victor. He manages to act/imitate so well that it’s just stunning. Hell, the way he played Topher was spot on–even down to the facial expressions, body language, and voice inflection.
They’ve used it in every single episode (treatment -> mind-wipe -> info/personality/ability upload -> mission/encounter), but it seems more explicit in its use to help take out Rossum. I think that plus Echo using it on demand plus the Attic made it much more Matrix-y.
I like how they managed to pull some Pain/Rinnegan type stuff in the hivemind ep. The teaser for the final eps look dope but there are only three episodes to go
matrix rip off or not, i’m pretty excited for the last few eps. i think the pacing with the hurried up schedule has perhaps been the best thing for the show. it fires on all cylinders and doesn’t have any filler whatsoever. every situation, every line of dialogue has some meaning and lasting effect, and i would assume its because time is short for the show anyways.
i’m excited to see where this goes, but obviously we have a pretty big idea where it’ll end up.
If nothing else, I’m really surprised at how this show has turned around. The latter part of the second season has been all kinds of fantastic compared to the snorefest that was S1. Granted, it feels like Whedon’s been rushing to fit several seasons worth of development into 6 episodes, but the fast pace actually works out rather well.
I hope another network picks up Dollhouse. At this point, I can safely say that it’s finally become an awesome show. Friggin’ Fox.
I honestly didn’t get the Matrix vibe before because they’d implant real people’s personalities at first (hostage negotiator). Then when Rossum put in fake people, the dolls still felt like real people who have lived entire lives and learned the info the “normal” way. It’s only in the few episodes with Echo using different personality’s skillsets on demand does it feel like Matrix to me. And of course when they put in even more personalities into Echo before she and Prya broke into that complex.
I kind of thought that “last soldier” would be Alpha. Either way, you know he’s coming back as somewhat of a good guy soon. After all, he WAS mentioned in Epitaph 1.
[details=Spoiler] First RIP to my baby Summer, just when they humanized her, they blow her brains out all over Topher’s lab. Also I am going to miss that little cute Asian girl Ivy, to speak a little like Million for a sec, that hair she was rocking in the episode made her look extra DELICIOUS.
Second, I ain’t mad Boyd for grabbing Claire/Dr. Saunders.
I AM mad at this loco ass twist because damn I didn’t see the older mature black guy being the villain coming! I mean after he broke old boy’s neck, I thought dude came back to be a hero, shit those fucking flashbacks have gotten more criminal then Lost with revealing shit.
Oh well, good shit. It is a shame it is all ending so fast, although it does make for a much more entertaining viewing experience in a way. Can’t wait to see what Boyd’s master plan has been all this time.

Not really a SPOILER but was Rick Fox in the last episodes I missed or did he just make a cameo for nothing?
