one thing ive been trying to figure out is how to save replays to my HDD. i cant even seem to find a way to save the replays at all would love the opportunity to view my fights and learn from my own mistakes but i cant do it. havent really done a whole lot of searching on google for it, so i suppose i should. but if i can figure that out ill definitely try to post some vids.
checked on that link you gave me and posted for players in my area on FinalBoutâs website. might get some leads from there so, we will see. hopefully i can find some skilled, but modest players lol
The game is just a lot harder now. I was in the same situation I used to go on massive streaks in Vanilla with my pretty basic balrog, quit for over a year, came back and got bodied nonstop for like a month. You just have to get better. most people online are good there arenât many easy wins, most of the casuals have moved on to other games by now
just focus on learning from your losses
yeah ive definitely learned quite a bit even in just the last few days. one key piece of information i would suggest to ANY noob is to learn about option selects. i just learned about this tonight. what a mind blower ROFL i mean the sheer versatility of the grab option select against many of the situations ive encountered is really unrivaled. this information alone will help me save HP quite a bit from now one. now to focus on counter attacks after teching a throw lol another piece of info ive learned is to gain more of a rhythm. this game favors rhythm over mashing in almost all aspects of the game (save for chars like honda/chun li with mashing attacks) which has definitely been hindering my game a bit. im only now starting to get more into the rhythm of the game.
Dude itâs alright your new, and option selects are damn hard to get your head round, but donât let anyone put you down, i can name a million and one people who donât have the balls to create a thread asking for this information, one note if your not enjoying the game then donât play it, the last thing you want is to be wasting your time in something that you donât even enjoy, no one will hold you against it, so if you find ssff like a mindfuck atm, come back to it later, (or go out and buy skyrim and donât eat sleep and socialize for days XD), P.S the main thing i find is that my friends all buy street fighter and realize thatâs its not just how hard or fast you hit the button and quit, itâs good to see people actually ive the game some time and donât just jump to COD or fifa,
yeah im not one to give up easily lol this is one of the main reasons i brought up my tales of DS/DKS⌠if you can get through that game then you can get through just about anything, or at least sit there and endure the punishment with an open mind to try and get better. games like those weed out the casual from the serious gamers. I dont really consider myself a budding casual SF player, but without tournament knowledge or the immediate desire to head out to tourneys for it i cant really justify calling myself a true âdedicated street fighterâ yet. im not playing the game in 30 minute intervals twice a week⌠lol i think the time i spend on it is more than satisfactory, and even bordering insanity lol so id like to think im at least semi-serious
oh, and fuck COD⌠im probably one of the most blatantly verbal non-supporters of the COD franchise lol I mean as shooters go, they are by far the worst. If you can get past the nonstop onslaught of RC bomb cars, helicopters, harriers, satellite missiles and even fucking nuclear bombs, you might just see some of the douchebags camping out somewhere with 10,000 kills on the newest map pack expansion from the previous years title that you just spent a whopping $60 for like it was a new game or somethingâŚ
Iâm going to say some stuff. It may rub you the wrong way. I apologise if so. But here:
-
You sure donât write posts like a grown man with kids. Embarrassed to try new things / get owned because youâre new? This isnât high school. Unless youâre explicitly trying to be childish.
-
No one asked you to go out every single week a tournament is being held. In fact, you go when you want. You can make it a bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, or what have you.
-
WTF is pro level? Youâre still in a ânoobâ mindset as you put it. There is no âproâ in the fighting game community. Nothing concrete separates the folks who win tournaments often to those that donât. There is something called skill, but you canât measure that objectively, other than tournament placings of course. But there are plenty of good players who donât ever place in tournaments because of one reason or another. See top 32 EVO; some of the best players didnât make it out of pools. So what? The majority of regular posters on SRK donât place, yet are solid players.
-
You can improve at a snailâs pace online over an input delayed connection⌠or you could at least attempt to make it out at your leisure to one of your local gatherings. Since youâre in California, there is absolutely no excuse not to try. If you absolutely hate it, then do tell us and the scene can improve. But if players donât make it out, how are we to know? Yes thereâs cost involved. Itâs called a hobby for a reason. All the âprosâ of the game have careers and jobs in real life. Theyâre not living off tournament fight money. Many people here who donât have scenes within a driveâs distance would be happy to be where youâre located because of the plentiful competition.
-
Get rid of your ego, and promise us youâll make it out to one local tournament. We could care less if you went 0-2. There are casuals and plenty of welcoming players who you can pick the brains of.
-
Itâs play to win. But you donât have to win in order to level up. You seem to contradict yourself when you say you donât want to âplay to winâ. As you say youâre a ânoviceâ player, itâs of utmost importance that you donât worry about what your arsenal looks like, but rather play with solid fundamentals. Get hit by an SRK-FADC, Ultra? Well thatâs not your opponentâs fault for doing an âeasy comboâ, itâs your fault for not respecting your opponentâs options. There is no ânoobâ tactic, there are only folks who canât deal with said tactics because they havenât figured out how to get around them.
- Demonâs Souls isnât strategic, itâs purely knowledge based:
- Ninja Gaiden isnât strategic, itâs purely knowledge/reaction based:
Spoiler
Iâve done all the Missions of NGB&NGII on Master Ninja difficulty.
- If you want to learn how to play Ibuki, read my guide:
Ibuki Player Guide (book)
P.S. I love Demonâs Souls and Ninja Gaiden (NES to Black).
P.P.S. My avatar is Irene Lew. =)
Wait a second, you have 3rd Strike? Play me in that. =)
The frustration trying to learn SF4 is much greater to the frustration of losing, so I choose the latter.
Plus I have no idea what all those jargon is (cancell into, FADC etc) and even if I did I would not be able to perform that not even in training mode. believe me I tried but unless you have a person near you to show and explain to you exactly how it is done, online tutorials do not help.
Besides, I need someone to teach me to do that on a keyboard and there are very few on that level I guessâŚ
I play how I want whatever the outcome and feel satisfied.
Hit me up on PSN. WarlockDLX
I think the PS3 arcade stick is linkable to the PC through USB, isnt it? I thought i read that somewhere that you could use it for PC fighters
Stop focusing on âdoing movesâ and combos and focus on the basics.
When to poke, when to punish, when to back down, when to get in their face.
At itâs core, SF is less about knowing how to do the moves, but rather being able to do the correct moves at the correct times, or better yet, making each time, the correct time to do a certain move.
People need to get this MadCatz = crap mentality out of their heads. The company has shifted from making cheap products to quality, specialized controllers.
The TE is designed with the needs of the fighting gamer in mind, and the man behind it is actually from the community (MarkMan who also mods the TechTalk forum).
Itâs arguably the best off the shelf (non-custom) stick money can buy. The choice between MadCatz and Hori (for the RAP.V series sticks) is often times simply down to preference.
I assume youâd call the Eightarc sticks custom?
After doing OODLES of research on the TE stick, and even calling madcatz themselves in the tech department to discuss the PCB issues i was hearing about (he affirmed the primary issues were on the 360 sticks⌠whew another day im glad i own PS3 lol) and actually spending a considerable amount of time with it, im actually VERY happy with how it came out. Not sure how the guts will last, and a âbodyâ is just a body. as long as it doesnt fold under pressure, its good enough. the parts that i touch are all sanwa so in reality, madcatz really didnt make the stick lol everything that matters and that would potentially break is made by a company that is known for making parts that can withstand brutal wear and tear. so with that said, im very hopeful for this stick.
you have to realize that ive had a LOT of bad experiences with madcatz⌠INCLUDING their âfightpadâ that came out at the same time as the original SFIV and coincidentally, the same time they made this fight stick⌠and that fightpad i got constantly stopped transmitting signal mid game for the first 2 weeks while i was using it, and then at the end it just stopped giving signal all together. i exchanged it twice and both controllers did the same thing. the manager at game stop actually had to say âi cant give you a replacement this time. we have had too many come back and its costing us money in returnsâ so yeah⌠i was just super leary. and back in the PS1 days their memory cards had problems with randomly corrupted information. controllers would have busted buttons or analog sticks, or would just stop working randomly. just a very bad list of experiences ive had with them. I really do hope they have taken a better road for the future, and this stick certainly proves they are capable. I flat out returned my Tritton AXProâs as soon as i found out they were made by madcatz⌠lol just bad vibes with the company.
but, so many people rave about the quality of these sticks i just had to try it out. loving it so far i only worry about the long term circuitry. you dont recall any known issues aside from the PCB in the 1st gen sticks? round 1 with the red IV
gr. GR. GRRRR. You might remember this sort of unbridled rage from such threads as the execution expectations. If we call footsies, frames, and yomi basics then basic execution is level ZERO. You can do it in tandem if you like, but you cannot do it out of order. It will always come back and eventually youâll have to fix up bad execution habits if you donât do it at the beginning. Otherwise you create people who hit a lot during footsies and are dumbstruck when the odd ultra combo hits for 500. You cannot win this way!
Not to suggest anything but youâre now talking about OSes in the same sentence as shoryu FADC ultra can be done if you put your mind to it⌠Iâd like to see a vid to be sure, but Iâm fairly certain you just gave yourself more ways to GET HIT just now.
Anyway Iâm still using my R1TE, it was my R2TE that crapped out almost out of box. IRrrrronyyyyy
I believe most people in NORCAL play on PS3.
well thats certainly a relief lol but 360 is as dominant here as anywhere (though with their lack of customer service and shoddy equipment, im honestly shocked 360 hasnt tanked as a system entirely⌠halo is the glue holding that system together lol)
It is indeed. I have a Hori PS3 stick and it works flawlessly on the PC, though Supercade does not recognize it yet.But it works on PCSX2 for fighters and Taito X2 as well.
No, it is just that I use the keyboard that suits me better than a pad or a stick regarding speed and reaction times. Using it for fighters for over 17 years.
interesting. i didnt even know they made fighters for pc that long ago lol i barely knew they made em for PC even now⌠for that very reason. how the fuck do you pull off what needs to be pulled off on a keyboard? lol so many keys but only a few used. seems like it would make for a lot of frustration and missed moves.
