Yeah, I understand why you might use a super to escape some situation, but sa1 is not the kind of super you would really ever just throw out, and I would imagine if thats what you are doing, it would seem rather crappy, but its not worse than any of his other supers. Sean does have some decent ways to combo into a super and hit confirm and such. Its just a pain to get meter and deal damage otherwise.
Anyone have any strats against Pink Seans? They’re they only Sean that give me problems.
JK…but I prefer SA II over SAI. Hit confirming options might not be as many as SAI, but I like the damage it brings. It’s also the only super that can be used to desperately as an anti air if needed…although it’s pretty easy to parry.
Run and hide.
Green Sean > Pink Sean
Sean is BALLEN i saw him on the court last week.
but on the real he is ballen and fun the play with or more like win with nobody likes losing the kobe. i fell that you have to work harder with him so it helps my game when i go back to ryu or akuma fuck ken too many people play him
top tier= less work
low tier= more work but more fun when betting a top tier ho
Thought this was common knowledge but no one mentioned it in this thread.
Roll beats throws, so bait a throw, then LP Roll.
It’s best if done early/anticipate their throw so you can punish their throw attempt, otherwise they’ll be able to tech your throw attempt.
This can work after a tornade (ex is best i believe), c.HK/HPxxLP Tackle feint, or cross up j.MK (people love to throw after this).
Sean’s j.MK and rolls will crossup in the right hand corner.
For whatever crazy reason, dragon punch and qcf+K can be thrown out of.
Because a lot of his game is based off of throw mixups, ub+MK/HK can be useful instead of those. Tornade sometimes can beat throws… it seems random. Sometimes too slow and it get punished, other times pegs them. Haven’t messed with EX version, and I think that might be viable.
Lately I’ve been working on using f+HK to this effect. Because it resets, you get some nice options. In the corner, bait a throw, and punish with f+HK. As they’re resetting, walk up and mixup with throw or another f+HK. If you land the throw you get wakeup, otherwise the situation is reset. The main problem is that f+HK doesn’t beat throws right away, so you have to do it early. If it’s blocked, depending on the character, sometimes you’re safe.
With c.LK>dash up>throw and UOH>throw antics, it can work as well. Mainly because he moves forward in the animation. If you can kara throw, this is 5x better because the threat range of the throw and f+HK become more similar.
With LP dragon smash, you can seemingly setup an unblockable if they don’t tech. Basically like the SAII setup, basketball, lp or mp roll. Sorta crappy move, but you can combo lp dragon smash off of c.LK so it’s not total garbage, plus decent damage. Still working on the setups for when they tech.
Here’s some basketball antics to try. Knockdown in the corner, taunt. As they get up, many people parry into throw. Go for option select c.LK~LP. If they throw attempt, you can tech it. If they block you get a low for a mixup. Not that great, just something I thought of. Been meaning to bait this for f+HK, but haven’t thought about it until now.
A little sample of my Sean strats–stay tuned for more. He’s low tier, but that makes the victory that much sweeter.
Check out the most recent postings by TheShend. Sean P (Sean) is beasting.

I just want to say I love you sean users… i look up to you… keep fighting the hard uphill battle…
SAI is my fave…some combeable and make nice moves…
if u got an opponent thats airbound (cunt-lee, Twelve, maybe akuma) His bdf-kick is a good way to clear space.
Hope Sean will get more attention now that 3SOE is on its way.
Agreed. I hope that 3SO won’t make him even worse… I see flocks of gamers playing other characters and finding new tactics, yet few playing Sean and finding tricks we don’t know already.
It’ll be hard for OE to make him worse than he already is. I say that, and he can still be decent enough in the right hands. Obviously there are no tricks or tactics he can really take advantage of, only the basics of basics. Still, if there are any Sean players besides Bodler that wanna try and step up when OE’s released, good luck and god speed.
Kinda sucks though; all three of his Supers are really good in their own ways, but Sean is ultimately the one that’s bad. ;(
Hey guys!
I’m new to 3S and I’m going to be maining Sean when OE comes out (I don’t care what anybody says!) and I was wondering if there were any combos or set-ups into SA1? Thanks, I really appreciate it!
l.lk, c.mp, mp, c.mk, close hk, hp, srk. Thats everything you can cancel into SA1
There is also a kinda reset link thing - you forward roundhouse someone in the corner and when they recover in the air you do an SA1, it can be parried of course.
Good luck
I’m having trouble cancelling cl.MP>HK xx SA3. It’s one of his trials.
It’s not a cancel, it’s a very very VERY strict link that only works on Makoto.
sounds useful >.>
Welcome to Sean! Enjoy your stay
