Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm, IndieGoGo campaign thread

In hindsight I wish that groupee doujin bundle happened much earlier, we probably could have gotten all the characters :frowning: The donation progress skyrocketed after that bundle.

What’s done is done. Hopefully with the Nesica Live support and more exposure for the game that this opportunity can attract publishers/investors to take on this project full time to give these guys full time work and revenue to put more content into the game such as more characters, ura characters, refined features, and etc. Kinda like how it’s implied that after all the funds are used up from the Skullgirls campaign that it seems likely that Lab Zero would work with Autumn again and have the revenue to continue work after the 5 characters and such.

Developers didn’t promote their game much from the begining.
They had several blogs and game sites but only the last one is updared semiregular (at least not once in 3 moths).

Much thanks to everyone who donated. It went from ā€œI doubt they’re gonna make it.ā€ a week ago, to them blindsiding the goal and even getting the extra character.

I honestly didn’t think we’d make the new character goal. Good job everyone!

As per above, we’ll get back with an update on next steps and character voting results soon. The character votes are all with the Yatagarasu dev team and I have no idea which character won. We had some pretty big donations over the close of the campaign and the ranking may well have changed completely since the last update! FUN! :slight_smile:

this campaign was like a good match, the deciding moment came at end with a fantastic come back.

Thats the third best combaack in fighting game history.

Oh yeah, going off of the rewards, I’m assuming there’s currently no official OST for the game? Because I really like this game’s music.

I don’t think there is one

But i do believe, you can listen to most of the songs in the Sound Test menu

It’s missing that one song with a singer though

The singer song (assuming you mean the final boss theme) is there, though, I never saw it there until I used applocale strangely.

I wonder if the graphic effects and sound effects could be changed a bit. I enjoy the game but they could be better

they said they were gonna increase the graphics. to what extent, i dont know. i would love for the game to look like 3S visually.


I can see the sprites become more sharper and clean looking.

So happy to see the funding go as well as it did, especially for GGPO!

I’ll be fine if the backgrounds just become better. Some are okay like the crashed train stage, but some are awful like Juzumaru’s stage and the final boss stage which are basically just look like unfinished water color paintings that if you look closely, begin to resemble a mountain or a forest. There also needs to be stuff going on in the backgrounds preferably. Not every stage feels it, but ones like Hina’s stage feel dead with nothing really going on.

Also, are there translations of the win quotes anywhere?

I think they’re gonna increase the graphics on Level 3.

Something else I discovered about the Parry system but first let me set this up:

In 3S if you want to call a dude out on doing Parry and throw or whatever on wakeup (and it’s generally frowned upon) you have two options. Either walk in and out of throw range and bait them then throw/punish them. Or do a meaty that you can confirm into Super. I.E. Ken’s cr.MK into SA3. Nearly every member of the cast can do that. If the guy on wakeup Parried and then mashed throw or Super or whatever, your Super will beat it. Except in very specific circumstances like Hugo SA1 (which is 1 frame and has invincibility) or Alex’s SA2 (Which has no hitbox during the first hit).

In Yata, you can’t really do meaty into super on their wakeup if they Parry. Their wakeup super or throw or in some cases specials will beat your super. And so far Yata doesn’t have Kara throws either.

My gut is telling me this might need to be tweaked. One the one hand you can justify it by saying that the Parry window is smaller and therefore riskier and if you fuck up you take double damage. On the other hand it lessens the meta game that much more.

Also, the trip guard needs to be tweaked. It’s like the opposite of SNK trip guard, you can jump in and hit buttons and still block a low when you land.

Some other thoughts:

Best pokes/AA game belong to Jyuzumaru. His LKx2 target combo AA’s (why?), j.HK is godly, EX Rekka is a good mid-screen tool in general, and his HK SRK beats meaties on wakeup (I.E. you knocked him down and want to pressure) and SRK Super is easily the best AA in the game.

Chowdah might have the best pressure game on wakeup. EX Punch beats a lot (even beats Jet’s punch super, even if does 40% damage to you, he can’t escape it). He can mix it up with cr.D into Punch or Drop Kick. And I think you can get away with cr.C into 360 if they Parry it.

You can punish jumpins with low normals Louis.

I know i’ve definitely done shit like parry against jump in and 5C when they land.
