Really? I tested it with the dummy doing j.HK and holding downback when they land and they can still block. You can hit them out of the air though.

I’d suggest you continue testing.

All I know is people tend to get hit by my cr.HK a lot when they’re landing from a jump. Not sure if they can’t block it or just keep falling for it.

Since it’s a 3s-like game, I’ll presume there is trip guard in the game. Meaning, if you don’t commit to any aerial attack, you can block any grounded, low-hitting meaties as you land on top of them. Of course, if you do commit to something such as an early air-to-air, when you land you will be hit by a meaty, low attack such as a sweep or a crouch light kick.

So in regards to Third Strike, and presumably this game since my laptop only works in safe mode now and I can’t test it, when you parry someone’s jump-in, obviously you parried something that the opponent committed to in the air. So as they’re stuck and already committed to an air attack, it’s only natural that low attacks would hit them.

But yeah, it has to work as a meaty and not after they had landed. In games like KOF, there is no trip guard whatsoever. So if the opponent did or didn’t commit to anything in the air, it doesn’t matter and they can not and will not block any meaty, low-hitting attacks.

The term for anti-airing someone with low attacks is called tripping or trip anti-air(ing).

Okay I was wrong, it does have traditional trip guard. Maybe I was thinking of 4.1?

Okay, looks like I spoke too soon. I knew I should have tested more and then posted. It actually depends on the super. So, Hanzo can do cr.HK into Kick super, and generally you can Parry then throw if she’s close enough or just do your Rush Super and it beats hers because it’s bad.

So far from what I’ve tested:

Jyuzumaru (QCFx2 Kick super)
Crow (QCFx2 SRK Super)

Are Unfuckwithable and in general Chowdah is gdlk on wakeup just because he can just Parry and grab you with whatever 360 he wants.

Only very certain things can counter them and I haven’t tested everything yet. I know that Kou’s EX SRK will beat Jyuzu and Crow’s respective supers.

So, this is really interesting and I hope to see dudes keep this shit in mind.

Pro tip: respect Jyuzumaru on wakeup.

I tried to do Hanzo’s kick super to air target combo and go for a reset…against chad. Of all times, why did I forget that 360s don’t give a damn if you’re in front or behind?

Here’s a weird thing with Shimo and Chowdah:

Chowdah cannot confirm cr.HP into LK Drop Kick if she’s crouching like most of the cast (Excluding Hanzo and Jyuzumaru) but if you confirm into cr.HP into EX Drop Kick it will work on everyone regardless if they’re crouching except for Shimo. And that applies to any range for that combo. But, so long as you don’t do EX Drop Kick at less then 2 character spaces away it will hit her if she’s crouching.

Weird…

Late to the party, but 'grats to Hotapen and Nyu Media on a very successful funding campaign! And very major props to all of you supporting the game - just one week ago, I didn’t think we’d even make the GGPO goal. I’ll be looking forward to the reveal of the 3rd character. I have tons of ideas as you can imagine. It would be nice if Jyuzu and Dark Jyuzu were a little more diverse. Maybe Dark Jyuzu can have a different Rekka game?

Maybe we can make the shotos not shoto anymore, while retaining the style of play that they have. Hina and Shimo could use more unique animations. Jyuzu and Chadha could be a little more different from their inspirations, and Hanzo is perfect. I honestly don’t know what to do with jet

I actually have a document prepared but I’m not at my home PC and don’t want to be premature with my fanboy gushing/demands.

I was thinking Hanzo could have a Half Circle Back+Punch Overhead? Similar to Makoto’s QCB+Punch overhead but maybe it’s more of a body splash? I don’t know how well it would go with her UOH as-is but it’s just an idea. If not that then some sort of new special she could do in the air but right now she’s the most unique of the lot.

Chowdah I think they need to either tweak the Negative Edge system or change the input for his Drop Kick to be a Reverse SRK motion to avoid accidentally getting his AA Super out instead. That -and just an idea- he gets a new super. His qcfx2 LK super is kinda’ garbage. And Peredu Great Moment would be good if it had invincibility because right now it’s pretty risky but making it better might make him OP. So my idea is that qcfx2 LK is now a Rush super where he hits the opponent with his shoulder and either (A) scoops them up and slams them down or (B) hitting them with the shoulder causes a wall-bounce and he can follow it up with an air grab or a standing normal for a reset. The catch is that the new super does about the same damage as his previous super (about 25%) and LK Super has to be his reserve and it takes two bars to use it but he can combo off of cr.HP, st.HP, and cr.HK.

Maybe Dark Jyuzumaru can play a little like Gato from Garou and KOFXI? Meanwhile the regular Jyuzumaru can get some new Rekka combinations ala Kyo.

It’ll be fun to see what they do with the Shoto’s.

As for Jet, the only thing I could think of is that he gains a new special or super (or maybe EX) where his gloves are set on fire or are glowing with energy and he either has access to new links or more powerful specials or something. It would be an interesting visual but it has to be measured against his top tier status.

Just my ideas, don’t shit on them because the campaign did say they were going to add new moves.

I would focus on making the original characters more unique/interesting before trying to make “dark/ura” versions of them more unique.
