Yang Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Does anyone know the properties of the different versions of Yangs command grab (including ex)? I keep getting stuff even If I use it as a meaty.

the normal one has a 10f startup, no grab invi.

ex has 7f statup, grab invi from 1-8f.

both is +7 on hit, forces stand

normal has 0.96 range, ex 1.19

ah that ten frame startup totally explains why keep getting stuffed. so you dont know the difference between the normal versions?

no difference. all the same.

You might find some other stuff here:

I finally got it down.i finally got my loop goin for Yang.command grab and cl.mk is a hit for me now. ive been using it online and its a hit for me. Thanks otori for the advice man. i really appreciate it man.

What are your inputs for HP Rekkas FADC Ultra 2? I can’t get it consistently yet. I can do it like 40% of the time on the 1p side and 60% on the 2p side. Thanks.

:qcf::hp:, :qcf::hp:, :mp::mk:, :f::f:, :qcf::qcf::lk::mk::hk:.

No need for shortcuts. It’s easier than FADC U1.

I watched a match a couple days ago where Acqua used c.lp, c.lk, s.lk xx rekkas instead of the usual c.lk x3 into rekkas on crouching opponents with smaller hitboxes. I tend to be much more consistent with the first combo than I am with the latter, is there any reason why I should use the c.lk’s instead?

s.lk is always better because it reaches farther. For instance, after a crossup mk it’s possible that the last cr.lk in a cr.lk x3 will wiff, whereas cr.lk x2, s.lk won’t. If you’re confortable linking a s.lk and cancelling into a rekka, you should always do it.

s.lk buffered rekka is also a better poking tool than cr.lk, again because of the better reach but also the bigger hitbox.

Ok thanks a ton for the advice. So then would c.lk, c.lk, s.lk be a more useful bnb against the smaller crouching characters than both c.lp, c.lk, s.lk and c.lk x3?

Yes, cr.lk, cr.lk, s.lk is the best bnb off a low. Although I’d point that interestingly, unlike most combos, if you add an extra light attack (cr.lk, cr.lk, cr.lk, s.lk or s.lkx4) you get maybe 10 extra damage with Yang.

I don’t particularly like cr.lp, cr.lk, s.lk because starting with cr.lk is better, since it hits low. If you start your string with cr.lp, you’re better off doing cr.lp x2, cr.mk (or cr.lp, s.lp, cr.mk for an easier version) for more damage.

anyone care to share oki games after a sweep ?

Yang players Question?

  1. Do I need to do to be good Yang player?
  2. I wanna learn Yang and what do I need to do?

Does anyone have any tips for safe jumping after a sweep? I’m getting a 1/20 succes rate on Guile in training mode :frowning:

My tip is don’t go for it. There’s so much room for error since you have to manually time it and I don’t see the point, considering Yang has very good options of doing crossups and ambiguous divekicks that will stuff/make wiff 90% of the reversals. Guile is one of the hardest characters to safe jump, because he has a 4-frame reversal, which means you need frame perfect timing to get it.

Safe jumps and options selects are not an important aspect of Yang’s play. You should only bother with them in some matchups where the opponent has no reversal option or it’s too slow. The only safe jump setup that is reliable is forward throw, wiff cr.mp, jump in.

I do feel like there’s always a time and a place for safe jumps. When you know you’re opponent is gonna backdash or reversal.

But this is probably a 1 frame window against 4 frame reversals? Other then Guile, what other characters have 4 frame reversals?

Out of the top of my head, Ken’s MP Dragon Punch (LP and HP version are 3 frames), Dan’s shoryuken, Dee Jay EX upkicks, Dudley’s EX Upper, Guy’s EX Spinning kick thing.

Yun’s EX upkicks =p

Really? Lol. I’m surprised they didn’t give him Adon’s wakeup timing and Seth’s DP (except 3 frames).
