Yang Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

where can i find yangs frame data?

http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Street_Fighter_IV_AE/Yang#Frame_Data

It’s technically not a dive kick at all, but a regular jump-in since you’re actually jumping in with mk first, then initiating the target combo.

Anyone find any interesting applications to EX slashes?

Sako wastes every single one of his bars on EX Slashes, since you’re only at -1 after blocked first hit, you can catch people a lot with throws and once they start trying to crouch tech, cr.lk and maybe counter hit them. It can also be used as a punish against certain moves, like Honda’s headbutt.

Personally I use it only for chipouts and EX Slash (1st hit only) EX Command Grab when I need the gimmick.

I’m having a hard time doing Yangs Low Shorts into Hard Slashes. Is there some trick to it?

You have to get the timing down, it’s a pretty easy link, since it’s 2 frames and fast. There’s no trick to it other than hitting the training room and grinding it out unfortunately.

For me, since I can’t plink cr.lk, I do crouch tech twice and for some weird reason I find it much better to just hit cr.lk later (instead of cr.lp+cr.lk).

If you mean you’re having a hard time cuz teleport keeps coming out, you gotta refine your inputs a bit.

Thanks I’ll just Hit training and try to grind it out then, On another note what is the timing for FADC’ing out of two slashes? I cant do it consistently. When i do hit it I have trouble Comboing afterwards. It might just be my sucky execution but I want to make sure…

PS: Should I be using hard slashes when I do the Above?

Hit mk+mp as soon as you input the motion for the second slash and dash. The follow up has to be delayed slightly, plinking the normal you want helps a lot (mostly cl.mk).

If you’re 100% confident, you should use hp slashes whenever you hit confirm. Use LP when poking and when you’re not confident in your combos (ie: laggy match). Always try to end with LP slash, because the loss in damage is negligible and you get better positioning afterwards. Exceptions are Zangief/Hawk and maybe Guile, Blanka etc, people you want far away from you or in the corner.

Ahhhhh I’m going to try delaying and
plinking the cl.mk, this helps alot thanks.

actually there great for a sort of fake poke in game. Especially with fei long. you dive kick in the do EX mantis slash then jump out and it really catches people off guard. Other than that you can combo it them really well but if you get blocked the recovery time can bite you in the butt.

I use ex slashes to punish akuma sweep

Using EX slashes to punish anything does not seem like a generally good idea when cr.MK has the same (if not quicker?) start up, more range, and cancels into HP slashes.

Thats just what i use. To each their own!! You could find many different moves for different situations even. Its just something that i use.

hey everybody. i need help with this one. i got every trick in the book for Yang but im having trouble with the command grab cl.mk. it really hard to hit the medium kick after i do the command grab. is it a strict timing in doin this? i hit it a couple of times but its most of times, i dont.

command grab is +7
cl.mk is 7 frame startup

it’s a one frame link. that’s why it’s hard.

you can try plinking it… or you can just go straight for dmg. you can do at least 200 dmg without meter by using a simple rekka combo like standing fierce -> hp rekkas… or if you have 2 bar, go for some dmging combo FADC then launch kick.

Thank you bro. ive been in training 24 hours to figure out how to get that command grab launch kick to connect. no wonder its very hard.
Thank U so much.imma keep training to get it down

perhaps someone can help me with this one.

Does anyone have a solid list of options after an untechable knockdown like after sweep or forward throw? perhaps cross up or safe jump setups w/ divekick? I saw the alioune vid, but it didnt come with any explanation for the timing and I dont have 5+ hours a day of training mode to try and replicate it…

I’m a big fan of Yang but I keep getting destroyed when I play him. Even if I do well enough typically whoever I face tends to have more life than me so even if I play equally well I’m typically the one who ends up biting the dust due to life. This character cannot take a hit. I’m an average player and I feel it can be difficult (even with all his tools) to avoid getting hit. Knockdown situations prove to be particularly stressful as many of my opponents anticipate EX dash with a jump back roundhouse. We all know that wake-up DP will get you punished. So many times my only option is to block (I am used to this from playing Rose), and even then it can be difficult to switch the momentum into my favour. I know this is SF 101 but what options do I have to get out of pressure situations safely and getting out footsied? Any particular normals or specials Yang can effectively bait with?

P.S. I find it particularly hard against grapplers and Shotos.

Forward throw > dash forward > hold jump forward > dive mk just before the pic of the jump
sweep > walk a bit > jump forward dive mk (aim the back foot of fei long)

Merci pour le reply. Je pense je vais y re-essayer ce soir, mais la derniere fois, j’étais juste pas capable de frapper fei long aq ces deux setups. Mais je pense que j’utilisais le HK dive-kick.
