Something that not a lot of people seem to realize is that Yang and Makoto get roughly the same max damage off of command throw > U1 (without factoring in Makoto’s super, which is rare to see). Yang just requires stricter inputs.
Not that this changes the tier list or anything, what with our bnb being weak as all hell.
Well, I posted this in the general discussion thread, but I figured I’d post it here as well;
I’m going to be testing some other ways to set-up a cross-up set-ups to see who they work on. Right now I’m gonna test Rolls into cross-up in the corner (lk, mk, hk and EX versions), see if I can find any way to get cross-up to work after any kind of reset, and see about one interesting cross-up set-up I saw someone post; forward throw, dash, jump, cross-up. I’ll post some more info once I’m able to hit the lab.
Anyone have any cross-up setups that they had in AE that they’d like me to test?
So I just stumbled into this today and had never heard of it. Maybe others have but it was the first time for me and I think there are others who also don’t know about this. I found two practical uses for it. The first is after for example two light attacks. Then the other, and IMO a much stronger use, is to use it after the Close Medium Kick, HP Palm, Far Hard Punch combo.
You could basically achieve the same thing with walking forward after the Hard Punch but here’s the difference. Walking forward is a rather obvious throw attempt and really gives away the mix-up. Now if you do this technique you’ll land the throw so that the opponent doesn’t see you move forward thus actually making it basically impossible to react to. It’s still a risk but as a mix-up it’s much much stronger.
It’s also is an optimal damage set-up since now you can go for the command throw after a Far Hard Punch instead of cr. LK or Far MP. This mix-up into command throw, if you do the Cl. HP xx HK Rollkicks combo, nets you 520 damage and 780 stun and gives you an ambiguous cross-up set-up.
I only got it to work with EX Tenshin. I’m not sure if it works meterlessly and maybe it depends on the button you use but even if it costs one bar I’d say it’s worth the damage. The tick-throws from light attacks did work without meter.
I’m not sure it’s a real kara or is it just like Iori’s command throw input in KOF but either way it’s something I think is of great value in the long run.
